So a few quick statements about Kelty and our stay at Migrino Beach.
1. Kelty had an owner (Hensley even talked about him in the video). It was a farmer in the village a few hundred yards behind our boondocking spot. He also owned a camel.
2. We called 2nd Hand Ranch the the day after we met Kelty. We were told they could not take her because her life was not in danger (that changed once she chased us).
3. Kelty needed medical help before she could make a 20+ hour trek under our dinette with our family of 4 in the Viva. We contacted 2nd Hand Ranch the day after we dropped her off. We knew she was sick and had a hurt paw, but the full diagnosis after being treated by 2nd hand ranch was Ehrichiosis, Kidney Infection, and a Vanarial Tumor.
4. Our videos are typically 20'ish minutes. This particular video spanned 14 days. We cannot (and honestly will rarely) ever be able to share every detail of every situation. We cut out the day we volunteered at the local Mexico dog shelter to clean out the pens & play with puppies. We cut details about how between Marissa & I we adopted dozens of animals between our families as kids including cats, dogs, rabbits, horses, pigs, iguanas, raccoons, ferrets, and pretty much any animal you could imagine being taken in. We didn't show the hours and hours we spent with Kelty rubbing on her, feeding her, and loving on her.
We loved Kelty. And we adore animals.
Please redirect energy toward helping animals rather than hurting Marissa with comments about her not being a caring person. She has been crying and is shattered because she knows how much she loved Kelty.

@@bethdawson889 We genuinely wanted to and had discussions about it. We didn't mention it on the video, but Kelty also had medical issues. We knew she had a hurt paw and was sick, but after contacting 2nd Hand Ranch the next day we also learned she had Ehrichiosis, Kidney Infection, and a Vanarial Tumor.
You made the hard and correct decision to get her healthcare. It is harder but the right thing to do. If she has CTVT she is way better to be at a place to get healthcare and play with other dogs as she recovers. Too many people would have done the easy choice and take her with, then later find out she needs healthcare. Marissa is a very smart Nurse and I am grateful you made the choice for Kelty and showed this, to many people do not think of the animal first. From a family that took care of many abused dogs to show them love and get them in a safe home I thank you for doing the right thing for Kelty.
You did the right thing.
The fact that a rescue place was called, and your volunteerism shows how caring y’all are. God bless you. A similar situation happened with friends of ours and a stray who “adopted “ their family. There was simply no room in their truck to accommodate a dog as they travelled. 😭
The sight of Kelty chasing after you just about broke my heart. What a sweet dog!
She was so sweet. We would have loved her, but she needed care and taking a wild animal in 24ft would have been challenging for her. After she gets some care, she will make a great friend for someone.

I know your situation was not ideal for a wild dog but I was bawling my eyes out and yelling, "Don't leave her" at the tv. I'm so glad you all got her to the rescue and pray she lives a happy life ❤
She is definitely at Second Chance Ranch. If you check in their pictures she’s in a pool with another blonde dog. You can tell it’s her by the spot on her head. Thanks Lindsey for making that phone call. ❤

No one can find fault in you finding Kelty a place to get medical care and play with friends, riding in a small RV when she needed medical attention was not the choice to make. Man that had to be so hard, I am very grateful you thought of her and her medical needs, thank you for showing that also. It is heart wrenching as she loved your family but top priority was her health care. I hope when she is adopted you guys can visit her. Thank you for showing the very difficult decision to get her healthcare not just take her with you.

Oh man glad you guys were able to call someone about Kelty. The driving away scene was heartbreaking. RUclipsrs Eamon & Bec just helped open a dog rescue in Cerritos Beach. The Cerritos beach dogs and coffee shop. (I’m case you find any more strays lol)

Looking at the comments it is clear that many of us have a soft spot in our hearts for dogs. 🐶 That "soft spot" can make it more difficult when we make the choices we know we need to make. I totally get why you could not keep Kelty. It is a good thing you guys sought to make things better for her. 👍

She was a free range dog and that was the life she was accustomed to- how would it be fair to make her live in a tiny rv and never free roam.
It seems so easy to say we should have just taken her- but there’s so much more to the story that we didn't have time to share.

A family friend has been rescuing Mexican ferrell dogs and getting them adopted in California. Kelty has got to be a sweet dog based on how she tolerates the kids.
She was amazing! Once she is well, she will make someone an amazing friend.

I live at the coast in NC. There are authorized volunteer organizations that mark and protect turtle nests. When it gets time for the nest to "boil" and the hatchlings to head to the sea, we often get out chairs and go sit and wait with the volunteers. Sometimes it takes sitting (in the dark, no lights to confuse the turtles) at the same nest a few nights before the magic happens. I never get over that special sight of those babies waddling to the ocean.💙💙

It's so cool to see things like the turtles through a child's eyes. JJ was feeling fear for the turtles because of the big wild ocean. Then he talks about the turtles moms. I got to do the turtle assist in Bonaire. We found 16 that hadn’t made it out of the nest, so our visit/search was their rescue. It was an awesome experience for us too. 😊

It would have been impossible for me to leave that sweet dog. What a sweetheart. I can relate to Hensley’s reaction. Can’t tell you how many dogs my parents took in because I wouldn’t leave them. But, I’m happy she will be taken care of. Hopefully she will be the perfect match for a family out there.

Thank God you rescued that dog It was clearly one that had been abandoned as it was so good with humans. It broke my heart watching that and I was just praying and then you said that you'd called the rescue. I really hope she's okay she deserves a good home. It's really sad you couldn't take her. Also I would not feel safe travelling in Mexico as I have another camper friend on RUclips who had a terrible time so please be careful all of you but the turtles were adorable and the whales. I've watched your channel on and off for about 4 years and you always have the most beautiful camera work well done. It's also very impressive that you've lasted so long in this lifestyle which is not easy as I know. I've done it myself for a few months in the UK. Bless you ❤

Amazing, beautiful lessons your children will learn and remember from these experiences. Both with calling a rescue for the sweet mama dog and the baby sea turtle release.. We were able to do a sea turtle walk in Georgia in which the mama turtles were coming on beach, making the nest and laying the eggs! It was a wonderful adventure. Thank you for sharing your travels.
