Y'all are amazing. Like I tell my husband in curving/mtn conditions..."Slow down, we are not in a hurry." We want to get there safety and not carsick. Nathan, you're doing a great job...3 hours and a little is just fine. The kids (especially JJ) seem to be growing so fast! I love that they are getting so many experiences so early in life! I'm a bit skittish around breathing fumes or close bear/animal encounters. Marissa, you did an amazing job driving! Love from SC, Stay safe! Jane in SC❤️🙏
It warms my heart to see you enjoying adventures as a family. You are actually showing the advantages of having less junk so you can have more journey!
If you are ever near southern Indiana you should visit Turkey Run State Park. They have some EPIC hikes that I think would be right up your alley. It is a really small park but totally worth the hikes that remind me of Fern Canyon!
Your family is so connected, your kids will love the memories. I went camping as a kid in diapers sleeping in the back of a station wagon and I did it for years as a teenager and as adult. I took my son camping as much as I could and i know he enjoyed it. I’m now living the rv dream and doing it full time for a year now. Keep up the great videos.
I lived in Redding for 24 years. Lassen Park is such a hidden gem - one of the least visited parks in the USA. Glad you got to see it. And a bear sighting too! Quite special. The entire area around that section of Northern California coast is also fantastic. Fern Canyon and the Redwoods are so unique.
My wife and I were out in Redding, CA the first week of May, my daughter lives there and is attending school in Redding. I drove through some of Lassen during a snow storm on the 10th of May. Props to you for even attempting to drive into Fern Canyon that's a no joke ride for sure but yes the views are spectacular.
This video was WOW!!! absolutely loved it. I felt again that I was right there with you. I hope you had a great time. Stay safe around those bears. Sending much love and prayers for your family.
God Bless you kids for sharing this life with your children. You are giving them a GIFT that they won't fully understand now, but they will remember these adventures for the rest of their iives.
You are all in my backyard, and I am almost embarrassed because I have never been up to Lassen like that. I have lived in its shadows for many years. Always in the back of my mind that it could blow and wipe out the whole area. I love that Hensley's idea of the right way to dress for a hike is a dress. The dresses don't slow her down either. Obviously if it is going to be muddy and wet wear a jeans dress!
We have been to Lessen National Park 51 years ago. We also have spent quite a lot of time in the NW of CA in the Redwoods. Beautiful places. Very different. Glad you got to Yosemite before the big fire at Wawona and Mariposa Grove this week. By the way, the Pacific Ocean in Northern California is quite chilly in temperature. Yes, Fern Canyon is beautiful. We briefly lived in Arcata years ago. One last thing, watch for Poison Oak (know the look of it - leaves of three and often tinged with reddish orange in Fall).
Love watching JJ & Hensley exploring! How sweet were they running on the beach! I love the coast too! I live on Hilton Head Island, SC and so grateful I get to see the ocean every day! Safe travels LJMJ!
Do not own an RV but have been following you for over a year. What y'all are doing for you and the kids is amazing. Yes, I am from GA. hence the y'all comment. You should hear my southern draw in person. You have helped me and my bride ( yes after 34 yrs. of marriage I still call my wife my bride ) to want to see the country even more. We started last Oct. '21 doing the east coast. Playing nomads with just a small plan of our route but never booking any places to stay because we never new where we would end up at the end of the day. Started out from Cartersville, GA with plans to go pass through Ohio in 2 days. We ended up in Ohio for an entire week. Ever time we turned around there was more to see. Hence, as you say stay flexible with your plans. Thank you for all your content and be safe. Me and my bride are both retired now and and what you are doing is wonderful for you and the kids. Be safe and happy trails. We went thru 13 states, drove 4,005 miles in 1 month and 1 day. Best trip of our lives, thanks for the help. Our last run was thru the Shenandoah National Park from the north end. Not a route hauling a camper but the beauty is worth it if you can do it in a car. STUNNING !!!!!
Thank you again for taking me on this journey of beautiful nature with you and your family. Very beautiful seeing the ocean. Have a great night and weekend and week. See you soon!
Great video. Your family is so full of love. What a wonderful childhood your kids are having. Love that you got to that campground ! The Pacific coast looks so beautiful.
That was an awesome campground. At least that bear crossed the road at the correct place. Just after the be prepared to stop sign. 😁😁🤪. Saw those 2 VW camper vans.
Now you’re in God’s Country! Have been going to Lassen since 1965 when I was 9. Worked as a Ranger there at the Southwest Entrance in 1980 and lived in the old Ski Chalet where the Visitor Center is now. Overnighted in the parking lot last year this week. Sadly they had a horrific fire after that burned much of the Park. It truly is a beautiful Park. Maybe some you can come back and see it when the highway is opened. Climbing Lassen Peak is a must-do and only a 5 mile roundtrip compared to Half Dome. You were lucky to get into Gold Bluff campground. I’ve been trying each time we are in the area. We spent most of last summer on The Coast (and this March). Safe travels!
The only time you can take an RV/trailer down a road like that to your campsite - and this is a pretty firm rule - it WILL BE RAINING! You may also experience at least one, if not more of the following: Rain, hail, high winds, sand storm, snow, sleet. This is only way the RV Gods will allow passage. Well done, Nathan!
I had to laugh: in the intro when Marissa says "I am much bigger than him", I thought she was doing it for the kids, then in the video I realize she is doing it for her own courage! 😂😂 The guy who parked in the road wins the rude-dude award. I will say it so you don't have to, "what a tool" 🙄 I remember deer hunting along the coast in the Los Padres NF. The beauty is almost indescribable, so much so in those canyons and river bottoms that I got lost for a long while (about two hours that seemed like six 😳😂). Thank goodness for a quality compass. One of my favorite memories now.
I love your videos! They are informative and amazing! Your drone footage along with your music and editing to get just the right video completed for every episode is unreal! Thanks for sharing your adventures. ❤️
Love it. Your kids are learning so much more about the importance of life and the value of it on the road with you then they would ever learn in a classroom. It’s not for everyone but seriously you guys are rockin it. 🤗
My celebrity friends, Love to watch your videos and enjoy seeing the children having fun and getting so big. Thanks so much for all your hard work that goes into making your awesome video's. I appreciate you both, safe travels and God bless you and your beautiful family!!!!!
you could camp at pismo beach on the sand but be sure and air down and stay close to shore on the packed area. the creek crossing isnt a problem in the summer.
Fern Canyon is definitely a wow. My wife was well and truly surprised when I talked her in to going in there. Not sure if that or Ferndale was the highlight of our trip behind the Redwood Curtain. We also caught a herd of Elk crossing Big Lagoon.
We were lucky enough to stumble upon Gold Bluffs Beach Campground a couple years back. Such a cool spot, so rustic, I think we camped on the other side of the tree you were camped by. I wish I had know about the Fern Canyon hike though, missed that one, but all the more reason to go back.
Just loved seeing you in both Lassen and Humboldt County. Am I remembering that you visited Humboldt before? The place is near and dear to me as I lived in Arcata and Eureka for 10 years. All that rain and mud are so typical 😂, yet the area, especially the coast is so empty and beautiful. I am a native Californian and I think Lassen is one of our treasures. So glad it is still off the beaten track. Just love the way you let your kids get wet and dirty while they soak it all in. Sending you much ❤️ as you continue in your journey. I have been watching for years now 🙏🏻 (I have driven 299 between Redding and Arcata many times in a car. Yes, it is awfully winding, but I have always found it so spectacular. One of my favorite roads!)
Yes... You are making great videos. My goodness, I miss California. Blessings. Man! So great. I enjoy when you guys are just chillin' somewhere beautiful. I love seeing the kids experience a great family vacation. Good stuff. You don't have to thrill us every minute. Sometimes watching you eat spaghetti as a family is a good time too.
Sorry for the little mishaps you have had on your adventure but,I guess that also can make the adventure. The fern canyon looks magical. Just a great place to be in the moment.
The adventures your children will talk about forever! So loved this video, except the STRESS from that drive into the campground and the CLOWN that did not move his car. I was yelling at him for YOU! Great video! I am betting someone slept good after all that running around exploring on the beach!
It's a very long drive from Redding to the coast... and ugh... we almost got a speeding ticket on that road (my husband loves to drive his Corvette to the coast)~ It's worth the effort! If ONLY we had some of that rain now! 105 and ugly drought! Safe travels!
So much fun watching the new video! Of course we love it that you showed our selfie by the Lassen sign! I'll let you know when we post our Lassen vid in a few weeks so you can see just how different it was for us there! LOL! I've been there in the summer but never when the road has been closed! SO much fun! Jealous about your Fern Canyon journey...we just didn't have time this trip. SO beautiful!
Another awesome video! I seriously look forward to Sunday evenings when I can relax and watch your video. My Uncle used to be a ranger at Redwoods National Park so I have such fond memories of going there when I was young and seeing him as he was my favorite uncle lol
Yah gotta watch out for the Mama Banana Slugs, too. Last time we were there, jeez 11 years now, you didn't need permits for Fern Canyon and there were two pop-up trailers in the campground. It was in late September, so might have been in to low visitor count time.
We took a road trip about a decade ago on the inland side of California. The interesting thing was, in this day and age, there were places north of San Francisco where we couldn't get waited on. The wait staff would ignore us. I wonder if it was because we're Japanese?
I don't comment very often as I usually watch your family on the big screen TV and have no way to reach the comment section. But, tonight I'm watching you on the desktop computer upstairs. I'm really enjoying you taking this trip to so many of the places I've spent a great deal of time at, like Yosemite and Lake Tahoe. Hey Marissa. I am a nurse travelling on the road fulltime. I carry a substantial first aid kit. It's unbelievable how many parents travel without child related Tylenol to treat fever.
What a beautiful place you ended up at. I wonder though, how hard would it have been for that man to back up his car to let you pass? People sometimes.. That ocean, i think you found the spot for a tiny human contemplating about the bigger things of life. Amazing! Thank you for sharing!
Love the patch hats (brilliant!!!). I love that JJ is going barefoot (true Southern boy)! Hensley is going to be an amazing photographer. I love her sense of style! ❤️🙏 from SC, Jane
Another super vlog, looks like you're having a great adventure. You did good guys getting through that small space with your vehicles 👍. Enjoy your week take care and safe travels. ❤❤🇬🇧
Fern Cannon is so epically beautiful. I hiked it with a bunch of high schoolers when my daughter was in high school. That creek crossing you drove through is so fun to forge in a suburban, lol
Great video. Fern canyon is amazing! As long as there’s no rattles on the tail the snake is fine!😂 I’ve lived in California since 1983 and there’s a lot I haven’t seen. I think it’s the most beautiful state in the country. Where else can you ski in the morning and go to the beach in the afternoon and spend the next day in the desert?
Hey there guys another great video people are so crazy these days. Becareful going through the woods with all them animals.. your kids are growing up too fast enjoy your special time together .. have fun stay safe out there on the roads keep the videos coming. Take care God bless . .Your friends Gerry and Pat from Amarillo Texas Yee Haw
Loved watching the roads as you drove down Fern Canyon - really cool! And please tell Hensley that I thought her fashion choices in this video were great! 💕
😂😂 We visited Gold Bluffs campground a couple years ago & it's such a GORGEOUS beach but I don't think I would ever go back because the road is CRAZY 😅🤣🤣

Son is working that fire now , he has been to Sierra Nevada area 3 times just since March 😔 Yosemite was our play ground growing up it just kills me !
"I'm much bigger than him" LOL....I love JJ's reaction to slugs! What a great video! Thanks for doing this and have a safe journey!

Lassen is a hidden gem! Hiked and summited Lassen this summer after watching your videos 🥰

What an adventure! Can't wait to see footage of the Redwoods!!
That Suburban parked in the road at 15:00 wins some kind of prize. It's a shame being that stupid isn't painful.
Great video. Your family is so full of love. What a wonderful childhood your kids are having. Love that you got to that campground ! The Pacific coast looks so beautiful.

ok, that guy could've definitely moved 🙄😤 but I'm glad y'all could explore before the wild fires in Yosemite 😭
North of Redding is the best part of California! Go to Eureka, Ferndale and Crescent.
I lived in the little town of Chester in Lassen county when I was a kid
Love it. Your kids are learning so much more about the importance of life and the value of it on the road with you then they would ever learn in a classroom. It’s not for everyone but seriously you guys are rockin it. 🤗

Why did the bear cross the road?…….to prove he wasn’t chicken….lol
😂
My celebrity friends,

End of May and Nathan jumped in! Much respect for you! Love this!

Be happy you’re not in Redding now, it’s over 100 degrees! But weather’s perfect in the coast!
We timed it well 😀
Fern Canyon was awesome and the beach shots weren't too bad either. Keep the good stuff coming guys and give Hensley and JJ a hug for me.
Thanks! Will do!
Great channel your bringing up your kids in a beautiful way out doors and with nature what a blessing 👍🇺🇲
You are so kind, thank you.
I bet no one is by that campground In Yosemite right now 30 ft of 🌨 lol
Sorry for the little mishaps you have had on your adventure but,I guess that also can make the adventure. The fern canyon looks magical. Just a great place to be in the moment.

So fun to watch your family explore our state!
We love it, thank you.
Judah and the Lion!!!!
My step daughter saw them opening for Mat Kearney years ago. Great guys!
It's a very long drive from Redding to the coast... and ugh... we almost got a speeding ticket on that road (my husband loves to drive his Corvette to the coast)~ It's worth the effort! If ONLY we had some of that rain now! 105 and ugly drought! Safe travels!

It's Boy-Ee-Uhl, Marissa. Come on. We Southerners gotta increase the syllable count!!!!
I hope you love it! The coast is my favorite!
I will always remember " I am much bigger than him". Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Thanks for watching!
Another awesome video! I seriously look forward to Sunday evenings when I can relax and watch your video. My Uncle used to be a ranger at Redwoods National Park so I have such fond memories of going there when I was young and seeing him as he was my favorite uncle lol
What a great show! Wonderful videography and music! 🙂
So Awesome!! I Love your Family!! Cutest ever! Thank You so much for taking us along with you!! Beautiful
You are so welcome! Thank you.
I wonder if it was because we're Japanese?
your channel is an inspiration. the needle drops are just right. and the b-roll footage is breathtaking. thank you
You are so welcome!
Please keep your shirt one . All that white was blinding !
If you haven’t gone yet, be careful on coast 101 - parts are very scary
We were at Lassen at the same time you were. Sorry we missed you. Keep having fun and safe travels.
Awesome 👏, I was hoping you guys would be able to go to round valley lake, near Quincy,California. That looked beautiful there.
It is fun to see your reactions and you sharing your perspectives on places that are not at all new to me anymore. I've lived on the east side of the Sierra Nevada for 41 years now. Thank you we are loving our adventures.
Love the way your videos have improved over the years. You are amazing Love jj he gets so excited.
That is so sweet of you. Thank you!
you folks are neat. what an adventure. great video again.
These Humboldt County roads are no joke, huh!? Glad you made it out here!
Just a little garter snake… they’re so cute
Great episode! This is a beautiful part of our country. Thank for putting this all together and sharing your travels with us.
Our pleasure!
Loved the adventure!! Great music/audio supplementing your video. Thanks for the ride along.
You were a lot more patient with the truck in the road. For me it would have been, " Can you please move your truck off the road so I can confidentiality clear your bumper? The fern canyon was amazing. Sad that Yosemite is experiencing a fire, another beautiful place bites the dust.
Yeah, For him to not be considerate enough to move and especially parking in the road? Really?
Hey Marissa. I am a nurse travelling on the road fulltime. I carry a substantial first aid kit.
It's unbelievable how many parents travel without child related Tylenol to treat fever.
That was an incredible adventure. I felt like I was there with you. Thanks for sharing. God Bless!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I know that road between Redding and Arcata well. It’s very curvy but so beautiful.
I live just east of Lassen National Park, about 45 minutes away. It’s such a beautiful place.
What a beautiful place you ended up at. I wonder though, how hard would it have been for that man to back up his car to let you pass? People sometimes.. That ocean, i think you found the spot for a tiny human contemplating about the bigger things of life. Amazing! Thank you for sharing!
I agree Hensley Boy-uh-ling!!! Do you ever talk Homeschool stuff on TeamJourney?
Yes we sure do and sometimes we talk about it in videos.
Enjoyed seeing how you did laundry, etc. Fun video. Thank you. Blessings
So glad you enjoyed Betty!
My daughters called it Fern Gully. May be to old a movie for some kids.
Good to roll with the punches, and wow, Lassen looks so different after the burn! And what the heck was that guy doing parked in the road like that!?
I did that same highway from the Lassen area to the coast one year. Took like twice as long as I thought it would......
I missed an episode or two, glad to see they have the jeep back. Did they ever say what was wrong with it.?
Here you go. ruclips.net/video/9C5tvsQcnos/видео.html
Love the patch hats (brilliant!!!). I love that JJ is going barefoot (true Southern boy)! Hensley is going to be an amazing photographer. I love her sense of style! ❤️🙏 from SC, Jane
Thank you so much.
Another super vlog, looks like you're having a great adventure. You did good guys getting through that small space with your vehicles 👍. Enjoy your week take care and safe travels. ❤❤🇬🇧
Thanks so much! 😊
We can't wait for our two hats to come!!! Love them!!!
Awesome, we hope you love them.
Fern Cannon is so epically beautiful. I hiked it with a bunch of high schoolers when my daughter was in high school. That creek crossing you drove through is so fun to forge in a suburban, lol
What amazing memories you're making.
So very much enjoyed this journey with your precious family! Thanks for being so authentic 🖖🏻😘👍🏻🙏🏻
Thank you so much!
Thanks for bringing us along!
Our pleasure!
Good job Hensley, it’s “boy-L-ing”. 😂 😝
TIP: many ferns species are iridescent on the underside. Lighted with black light at night shows a very different world.
That's pretty cool to know!
Very cool. Thank you.
Oh Marissa. :-D It's "boy-al", not "boll"... LOL Three of my grandchildren are in TN, and I love to hear their colloquial accents. Just love it.

Loved watching the roads as you drove down Fern Canyon - really cool! And please tell Hensley that I thought her fashion choices in this video were great! 💕
I love the music you used for this video.
😂😂 We visited Gold Bluffs campground a couple years ago & it's such a GORGEOUS beach but I don't think I would ever go back because the road is CRAZY 😅🤣🤣
Beautiful campground and trail, of course, once you got there because of that narrow road.
