- This video was shot with a Canon 60D with a 50mm F1.8 lens. The lighting is provided by a Mole-Richardson Baby Solar Spot bounced off a white wall. The mic is an Audio-technica AT2020 plugged into a Behringer Xenyx 1202FX mixer. The mixer is plugged straight into the camera's mic jack.....but since the mixer is line out and the camera is mic in, the mixer is turned way down as is the gain setting on the camera....seems to work. The video is edited in Sony Vegas 9.0 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. The guitar is a Larrivee LV-04.

Thanks for commenting. I plan on putting out some videos soon after my lengthy hiatus. Look for Air on the G string coming soon.... or the way I play it...Error of the G String....

The method I described above is probably not the best way owing to the line out mic in issue. I now run the mixer into my computer using a Behringer UCA 202 usb interface and record the sound using the free program Audacity. I then replace the cameras audio with the good audio in the video edit using Sony Vegas. Audacity allows me to clean up any hum using a noise filter. It also allows me to edit out and replace any notes I may have messed up on.

I have a mackie mixer, when I plug it into my Canon 60D or any other camera, I get huge fuzz/static and sometimes hum, you dont have any! please help??

The way I do my vids when plugging the mixer straight into the camera is,
1) Set the mixer so both channel volume and master volume are neutral ie 0
2) Turn up mixer mic gains to a nice rich signal with no clipping
3) Set camera's sound recording on manual and set the rec.level to one clic above zero.
4) Plug mixer into camera's mic input with mixer's master volume at minimum
5) Turn mixer's master volume up for rich signal at camera with no clipping.

Yup...that is why after saving my pennies for the last nine years I was finally able to afford a nice Alhambra nylon string guitar. Maybe after my hiatus of nine years I will start posting again.
