when the chevy started up, it sounded like a portable tire inflator pump that runs off your cigarette lighter
That’s crazy because I have one of those and you are not kidding at all lmao
The reason the ford 2.7 is so good is, because it was designed by a racing car company from Germany from top to bottom.
I own a 2017, F150 4 x 4 with a 2.7 eco-boost and I would buy another one in a heartbeat.!!! 152k and still as strong as the day I drove it off the lot !!
It’s a damn good motor.
I bought a 2017 with 2.7 and to say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement.
Neither 👎. I’m a V8 guy.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've heard the 2.7 Ecoboost is a much better engine than the 3.5 Ecoboost. I've known several with the 3.5 and not 1 made it to 100,000 miles before blowing up.
@@guardrail2897 I have read many times the 3.5 having issues. If I got another F150 I would get a 2.7 all day.
Biggest difference:
The 2.7L ecoboost has stood the test of time. It's durability is proven.
The 2.7L turbomax has a lot to live up to.
Every 2.7 Ecoturd I've seen has head gasket problems. For ALL you Ford fans. Ford just recalled 83,000 Ford trucks and cars, because of leaking gas on the hot exhaust manifold.
Ford's fix is running a rubber hose from the leaking injectors to the ground, rather than replacing the injectors, as they should.
But, Ford claims replacing the injectors cost too much and takes too long to complete the repair. Ford holds the record for the most recalls for 4 years in a row.
I have a 2015 XLT with the 2.7 and it’s been great 286,000 miles and still going!
Damn that's awesome!
That's 286,000 kilometers, not miles.
It's gonna lay down very soon.
If that 2015 has 286,000 miles, it's never cooled down in 8 years. That's 78 miles per day.
I think not
@@ricktaylor3748he said miles you blind ass 😂
Dang that’s amazing 👍
@@Mark-zz9rt thanks just crossed 300k a little bit ago
I always found it funny how crap gm talked about Ford using a V6. Fast forward a handful of years and they are putting a 4 banger in the Silverado.
Oh the hypocrisy right!
EXACTLY shitty 2.7 4 cyl see how long that piece of shit lasts
Wow, actually GM 2.7 liter four banger makes much more torque at lower rpm's than the regular 5.7 liter Hemi V8 in the RAM, and it also has more torque than Ford's ecoboost 2.7 V6 in the F-150, pretty impressive power outputs for both small displacement engines especially on full sized trucks from Ford and Chevrolet!! Hopefully RAM will soon offer the twin turbo 3.0 liter inline 6 with 450 lbs torque and 400 hp as an alternative option for the 5.7 Hemi V8.
Eventhough I like both powertrains the sound quality is much more masculine in the Ford 2.7 ecoboost V6 👍. GM's 2.7 liter 4 banger sounds a bit tinny and makes a girly whimp ricer sound, it sounds pathetic 👎. GM needs to work on engine sound quality for the 2.7 it's too girly to be in a truck.
@@Seenoevilspeaknoevilhearnoevilarger piston and possibly stronger really helps with the torque.
Bought a new F-150 with the 2.7 in 2018. Put on 97,000 miles with zero problems. Traded it in for 2021 2.7, which now has 40,000 miles on it. And zero problems. The 2.7 is a fantastic motor!
The Ford 2.7 is one of their best engines. Just look at any RUclips comments on this engine, nothing but praise.
Sure. 🤡☝️ Neither 👎. I’m a V8 guy.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@zoobrizz You have a v8 in your tricycle?
@Dave Waldon must be embarrassing getting your ass beat by a 6 cylinder
@@zoobrizzhis is a uneducated comment. You can prefer the V8, but the comment lacked any kind of knowledge or facts. Especially to call someone a clown, because they prefer the 2.7. I have a Ford EB second gen 2.7 and it is a phenomenal motor. It hits peak torque very low and will outperform the 5.3 GM in many ways. It also uses the same graphite block as the diesel. It is a very reliable motor, If maintained. I have owned modified diesels, and the 5.3 prior.
Best engine's 🤣🤣🤣
I have a 2019 ford f150 with 2.7 and 10 speed. 75k miles and couldn’t be happier.
I have a 2016 F150 2.7 eco boost with 130k miles. 110k miles of that is with a 6" lift, 35" tires, 4:56 gears, Highway Product truck cap, Deck tool box, a front and rear Fab Four bumper, and a Firestone air compressor to include air bags in the rear. I tow about 7k-8k pounds on a weekly basis, and the most is 12k. I average about 16-18MPG in the city and 20-22MPG on the highway without the trailer. With the trailer 11-13 MPG.. This by far, has been the best truck I have ever owned and I work this truck just as hard as my old 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. The only issue I have had is the backup camera, which acts up here and there.
Chevy guy myself but I must say the 2.7 ecoboost in our work trucks are a blast. Very powerful
@ricktaylor3748 - what do you think about this? Clearly you haven't driven one or know anything about the 2.7 F-150.
@@kennetho5393buddy he just said the f150 2.7 was a blast to drive. Chill out lol.

@@kennetho5393 yeah I’m dumb didn’t see that. Sorry buddy.
I have owned both and I would highly recommend the Ford 2.7.
The first American, car company , to start small displacement, twin turbo, standard output. Was Ford and it seems like everybody’s following, that trend.
Drove the Silverado 2.7 and f150 2.7 ecoboost today back to back. I was very disappointed with Silverado 2.7... didnt feel like it had the 435 torque and felt way underpowered... On the other side I was blown away with the performance and mpg of f150 2.7 and bought the f150 same day!!
Totally agree with you on the Silverado. I have yet to drive the 2.7 f150 but will soon. I had high hopes for the Silverado but was disappointed that it didn't feel as powerful as advertised. I also felt like overall the engine with the 8 speed wasn't very smooth. The Duramax with the 10 speed on the other hand was very very nice
Your bill of B.S
The fact that Chevy didn’t give the first two trim levels an upgraded interior is a complete joke to me. The previous interior was terrible.
I have friend who owns’16 2.7 guy loves it
First owner and zero complaints
My Dad worked at Ford and I went to a Ford Dealer out of high school 34 years later still there,it just makes more sense for me to buy Ford, A plan, parts discounts, and if I don’t know something, I can just ask someone at my dealer for help! I never liked the looks of the chevy trucks.
Just the comparison I’ve been looking for
Had a 2018STX 2.7 and loved the power along with the fuel economy. Traded in for a 2022 Lariet and opted for the same 2.7 and has had zero issues and still plenty of power for me. Note, I don’t tow so that was considered and why I chose the 2.7.
My F150 has the 2.7L and I do tow. The 2.7L has enough power and torque for anything a half ton truck as any business doing.
@@rdsii64 I agree, this 2.7 has plenty of power to tow, it’s torque is amazing for a small V6. 58,000 miles between the two trucks and zero issues with the engine!
@@rdsii64 couldn’t agree more, I pull a 5,000 camper with my 2.7 and it never revs over 3000 rpms at highway speeds. Payload will kill 1/2 ton way before power becomes an issue.
Ridiculous gm didn’t put the new interior in the base model trucks 🙄
And they are asking high price
It’s garbage out dated
They can't afford to, they're still in bankruptcy
So let me say up front I have owned 3 chevy trucks two Silverados and a Colorado.
I had the diesel Colorado 2019 and loved that power train... Both Silverados were 5.3 v8.
I say all that to say my last two trucks have been Fords and I don't think I will ever buy a chevy again... My 2021 Silverado 5.3 with the 8 speed had huge problems… hunting for the right gear and early morning in cold weather not shifting correctly…
So I would never buy a Chevy 8 speed and the 4 cylinder has the 8 speed… I am warning you about that… my Ford 10speed has been flawless!
Here we go again with all the virtual keyboard engineers about the 2.7 4cyl.
lol yeah, mostly children in adult bodies that are ford fans. GM did years of testing on these engines, and drove trucks with the engine installed and put several hundred thousand miles on them with no issues, they wouldnt put an engine out without being fairly confident itll last at least 200,000 miles while being beat on
@@alexanderkennedy2969 and some of the internals are forged just like its diesel counterpart.
Gm doesn't have a great track record with small turbo motors, it's their history not an opinion.
@@alexanderkennedy2969 most of the bitching being done about the 2.7 Chevy is from its own v8 fanboys club
My 2.7 F150 can give 32 mpg highway and with the large tank, I can go 800 miles without stopping. I also think on a 1/4 mile the F150 would win hands down. Oh, I have an aluminum body also and got the 302 package. It is a dream machine.
i owned a 2015 f150 with the 2.7l and now the 2023 colorado with the 2.7l. i can say that the colorado has it on the low end, but falls off as you keep going through the rpm range where the ford seems to pick up a little. they build these new turbo motors like diesels, and they are made to last. the ford never had an engine problem for as long as i owned it. the chevy hasn't had anything yet either, but i only have 4k miles on it.
I have the 2.7 in a 2022 GMC and love this engine. Honestly do not expect over 20 mpg but is super smooth to drive city or highway.
Should've test drove the Ford before signing on the dotted line. You got the short end of the stick.
@@21divel GM 2.7 makes 430 ft lbs torque. Ford 2.7 400 ft lbs torque. 400 shorter than 430.
As of lately you been coming with actual fire videos! Like comparisons people ask for. That kid got you right man. Now you just need a legit fade.
The 2.7 EB is bullet proof and get better mpgs then 3.5
Problem with Chevy 2.7 is it's only direct injection causing intake valve to get carbon build up and ford uses port and direct injection to avoid this problem
GM will copy them give them time
carbon build up only happens with poor maintenance
@@craigryder3712 Toyota did that very thing
so is ford
My 2022 Chevy custom 2.7 is pretty good with 20,000 miles. It’s all on your foot for Feul economy and speed. Chevy or Ford can’t go wrong either one. Small engines powerful and decent Feul. ✌️
I just bought stx and love it, I was pretty much sold on the Silverado custom but was turned off when I found out about 4 cylinder. Whole point of getting a truck was to tow a boat and I rather have a v6 10speed at the boat ramp
Yes. The Ford tows about 2,000 more lbs.
@@rogerspalding5673 Towing capacity is usually more about cooling and braking power than engine power. I suppose keeping 2 banks of cylinders cool is probably a little easier than keeping the same power in a single cylinder bank.
Actually the ford tows 7200 pounds with the 2.7 4x4 with 3.55 gear crew cab. The 2.7 Silverado lowest rating in a 2022 model is 9000 pounds. I tow with my 2.7 Silverado and the 4 has zero issues in fact it holds about 1500 RPM less than my V8 Silverado towing the same load. I looked at a f150 the same time I bought my 22 it didn’t have the towing capability I needed. The 2.7 will tow more only in max tow configuration. 3.73 rear axle.
You won’t regret your decision the ford 2.7 is a very good engine. Its probably their most reliable engine they have
@@rogerspalding5673d
I recently traded my 2020 f150 stx with 2.7 for a 2022 chevy Silverado both engines perform great ford does have faster acceleration but the chevy does feel more torque the difference can be felt specially going uphill and towing but ford gave me better mpg you can't go wrong with either but only time will tell. Love em both.
neither of those trucks are brokein or up to operating temp when you start out, and with such a short drive and how innacurate those computers are kind of moot.
Ford all the way best truck
A tuned 2.7 ecoboost is super fun!
I have a 2018 2.7 TT with 55k miles. Its been great, lots of power. I "tuned" the truck at 5k miles with a 5 Star custom tune and extensive bolt ons and it has been trouble free even seeing over 22 psi of peak boost from both turbos. Even running a 3" lift on 34" tires it has no issues although I do average about 15mpgs combined but I can't stay off boost. Being tuned for so many miles I can say it has been a reliable truck. I tow about 4000lbs regularly and thats when my mpgs get pretty bad (11mpgs). I had it dynoed and it was making 380 whp, making HP is too easy on a twin turbo motor. The Chevy is a great looking truck but its hard to accept a 4 cylinder in a full size. Great review as usual. Oh and the 10 spd transmission with the custom Tune has also been great, way better than stock. Both great trucks but obviously I steer towards Ford. With the current pricing on full size trucks i will keep mine until atleast 100k miles hopefully.
It’s a great girls truck 👍🌈
did you get 380hp just from the 5star tune? or you did something else to it? i also owned a 2018 2.7 and i would love to have those numbers
I have a 2020 was thinking about putting a 5 star in also. I’ve noticed my transmission shifts harshly at low speeds I wonder if that would help
a tune would help
@callmekarza3242 no it took more than a tune. Intercooler, upgraded piping, intake, full 3" Exhaust
I travel for work, and get to drive lots of vehicles. I have not driven the Chevy 2.7 but have driven the Ford 2.7 multiples times (Driven all F150 engines). I like the F150 2.7 and it can spin the tires well. The only thing the F150 2.7 lacks compared to the V8 or 3.5 is when you are going 50mph and you stomp the gas down. The 2.7 does okay but the 3.5 really does well. I'm possibly looking at the F150 2.7 for my next truck (current truck is a 15 Colorado Z71 with 2" level and 1.5" rear blocks). Hopefully next year I will make the change.
Both great engine choices and have more than enough power, performance, and towing capacity for the average truck owner.I had a 2.7 in my first Ford, have a 3.5 now only because of the options I was looking for in this particular model.Honestly,I'd go back to the 2.
7,great performance
Ive drove a truck with the 2.7 and what an impressive engine for what it was. Something that small making the power and torque an old 7.3 IDI powerstroke would make. I cant relate to much with the 2.7 I4, but Ive heard a lot of stories about how bad the 8 speed is. Its funny because you hear a lot of griping about the 10 speed from Ford, but owning an F150 myself (5.0L 10 speed) I actually dont mind it. Mine doesnt hunt gears, stays in the gears it needs to, give it some throttle and she goes, and I get 20 mpgs with a 5.0L on 33s and 3.73 gearing in a supercab. The 2.7 I had was a 2021 XLT Sport Crewcab Shortbed and it averaged 25 mpgs on backroads and highway mixed driving. So if I can help anyone in the market, give the 2.7 EB 10 speed a try. Very smooth engine trans combo.
My ‘18 f150 ten spd trans shifts smoothly, it never has had any harsh downshifts, no gear hunting
2018 F150 4x4 with the 2.7 Eco, 92K miles and getting an average of 19.7 mpg driving in San Antonio traffic, was getting 20.8mpg when I was in Maryland. The power from this is remarkable, best truck i've owned to date. I had a 2017 Colorado with the duramax(miniMax) and while i loved it, the emssion problems with the systems were a headache. It did get upwards of 28 mpg on the highway though. I would say the chevy 2.7 i4 will need some years to be tested, those are some high numbers from a small package so reliability would be my only concern. The Ford 2.7 is compacted graphite iron block as well so I think the ford 2.7 will be more reliable long term. just my two cents
I'd buy either one, but it will take a dealer knocking 10 to 12k off the MSRP to get me off the couch.
Get the best engine oil for those spinners! Good informative video by the way, bravo!
So you buy poor quality oil for a v8?
The L3B 2.7 HO turbo in my ZR2 Colorado is also underrated on fuel as well.
They claim 16 and 16, but over the last 450 miles, my gauge reads 19mpg best with just shy of 18 average and thats here in hilly terrain at 3,000 feet elevation and a mix of city, highway and offroad.
In a state with less terrain and highway driving, id bet its low 20s highway, which isnt bad for a 5300 pound truck with 33s and a 3" factory lift.
What is the rear axle ratio of each?
my 2018 2.7 ecoboost with 10 speed is at the shop with 62000km . broken tranny. next truck, probably wont be a 10 speed ford...BUT the 2.7 is awesome!
The 18s were definitely troublesome, but they’ve come a long way actually. Being an owner of both a 2018 and 2021 f150, both 5.0s, they’ve definitely refined the transmission
I will never buy a 4cylinder truck. Never.
I absolutely love my 2.7 Ecoboost! Almost 30,000 miles now.
I don’t even care if the turbos go out and I have to replace them, it’ll be a lot cheaper to replace them than buying a new truck. So far so good, no problems with mine, fingers crossed.
Change the oil and they won’t.
5,000 miles oil changes and full synthetic is a must!!! Do NOT follow these 10,000 mile oil change intervals and your turbos and engine should last quite a while. These engines/turbos use small screens in the lines and they will clog if you don’t keep up with your oil changes. Turbos spin very fast and generate a lot of heat and that really breaks done a lot sooner along with low tension piston rings it does a number on your oil.
@@dperr338 I don't believe in 10k mile oil changes on anything but would go 7k-8k on an Ecoboost if you use a high quality full synthetic. Would use Blackstone labs if doing 5k and not convinced you can go a little further.

My dad got the new 2024 2.7 Turbomax. It’s a very peppy truck. I like a lot. I’d like to see how the 2.7 Ecoboost compares.
I think you need a better understanding of trim levels and option packages within trim levels. You made several comments about the feature differences. But you failed to reference what option packages and trim levels both trucks had.
Just bought xlt 2023 2.7 I love it I think it's faster than the 5.0
I just sold my 2018 Lariat with 5.0 and never had a prob/ loved it. Planned on getting a new F150 with 2.7 but I cant find any that arent bottom barrel work trucks
How did the trucks weight match up? and axle ratios?
Amazing that most of these "testing" folks seldom dig into what makes a good comparison - like weight, transmission and axle ratios, tires, cab and/or bed size and so on.
This hardy guy didn't even put it in sport mode, that ford will pull most half tons.
how times have changed I own 2015 FX4 ext.cab 2.7 eco boost paid 34000 out the door including ext. warranty back then people were losing it over v8 vs v6 turbo I haven't had any problems with the truck I in Baja this truck works hard towing my it is a good truck gets 18 combined 20-21 highway used to get 24 mpg until I upgraded the tires to a 285/65 r18 plus this is the fastest truck I ever owned .
I thought I needed to find an f150 with the 3.5L Ecoboost, but your review and the comments I'm seeing here make me wonder if the 2.7L would be fine. I'll be towing a 5k pound airstream in the Rocky's.
I pull 7k with mine with problems
My buddy tows 10k dump trailer loaded with drywall a and we thought it wouldn’t tow it and it’s tows it no problem just as good a 5.3 if not better
When u started the chevy tho, I can't get over it sounding like an aveo 😂😂😂
My 22 F150 2.7 will get in the high 20s out on the back roads at 65 mph. At 80 mph which is the interstate speed limit in Utah, I averaged 24 mpg my last trip.
Think G.M. needs to ditch the 8 speed!
Crazy that gm 2.7 is the only engine they ever made that they couldnt blow up during testing, the 5.3 and 6.2 motors they blew up plenty testing them, that little 2.7 is a torque king
Still not better than the ford ecobeast ford wasn’t playing around with this thing
Sure 🤡☝️ Neither 👎. I’m a V8 guy.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I like how you said Utah rain stops in about five minutes, but has rained throughout your past four videos😂
The 2.7 Ecoboost sounds much better and better engine with power and fuel economy.
The Silverado looks better but their 2.7 is new and unproven.... Ford's 2.7 is tried and true long lasting / reliable....
All 2:7s are not equal. Until the Chevy has been tested in real world conditions I’m sticking with the Ford. Both are beautiful trucks, but they are 2Big . Put those engines in a smaller truck and let’s have some fun
Towing capacity is on a sticker under the hitch passenger side i believe
After experiencing the 10R80 in my 2018 STX 4x4 I won't own a truck that doesn't have a 10 speed transmission. 2.7L twin turbo vs 2.7L turbo4 is a wash when it comes to doing real hauling and towing. Both have more than enough power and torque for anything you have any business doing with a half ton truck. For me it comes down to the transmission. I'm all about that 10 speed.
I never understood the Ford's rating. The Ford info they released in 2018 when they did the upgrade says 400 ft lbs of torque, but the power graph they released that year clearly shows 420 ft lbs of peak torque.
It makes sense when you remember the history of domestic manufacturers holding back certain engines and models because they were afraid it might hurt sales of a more flagship model. Ford did it with the Barra engine which never sold in America despite huge popularity in Australia. GM did it with the Grand National, Cyclone, Fiero etc.
For context I have a 5.3L Tahoe Z71 with Magnaflow exhaust and a ZO6 Vette. I'm big on good sound. We just got some new Sierras (fullsize) with the 2.7L Turbo 4 cyl. at work. I will just come right out and say I love em! I don't get all the sound complaints, they sound fine. Not loud & angry but perfectly decent sound. The power is amazing - smokin the tires is easy. I don't see where they need any more power (or I guess it's the TQ that you really feel). They drive super smooth. I would believe you if you told me it was actually a V8. I'd buy one, but ideally I'd get a Trail Boss with a 6.2L
Ford literally changed the Truck game. Everybody laughed and sneared when they released the first turbo v6s in the early 2010s.
4 miles is just not far enough to do a real comparison. Find a way to compare over 60 miles for mileage. Do a side by side drag and rolling. I wish Chevy would make the 10 spd available with the 2.7. Both seem to be remarkable engines. Personally, I don't buy a truck for how it sounds.
the 2.7 ecoboost blows the chevy 2.7 off the road in both races in fact it beats most v8s in a race
I find the 4 banger to be buzzy, but the V-6 is smooth.
So noticed when I test drove these the Silverado tends to hold / stays in boost and higher rpm range bit more then the ford does but ford felt bit more faster once you started going, it could be cause it's a bit lighter vehicle ... over all I wanna combine both into one lol
The Ford is like 30 lbs lighter, what you’re feeling isn’t the weight
Both companies have made very competitive trucks for this segment, with payload and towing capabilities that were only available in heavier duty trucks of a few decades past. For me it boils down to how these designs fair over the long term. The design of Ford's 2.7 ecoboost seems to be superior with respect to it's rotating assembly, coupled with the smoothness that a v-6 imparts over the vibration inherent in the in-line four design (which requires a counter balance shaft to smooth things out). While push button start is offered by both companies, I prefer a keyed ignition, as it's not as vulnerable to theft. Push button start vehicles are in constant communication with the remote. This communication stream can be intercepted and decrypted, allowing theft of the vehicle without having the remote.
Stellantis is finding out that problem with chargers and challenger being stolen so easily. A key is fine with me
Do a comparison on each with 150k miles when and if the 4cyl gets there.
I wouldn't buy anything with the crazy prices of today's vehicles. I got a 2019 f150 4x4 with 2.7l eco and have been very happy with it. Just normal maintenance to date. Out the door 38k for stx package.
I wonder what the difference in weight was between the two trucks…?
I have a 2.7 and it’s impossible to do a Punch acceleration test with a wet road!
why would someone want to floor the accelerator on wet pavement? you cant do that in any car not just this one
Holy shit Ben you put out a ton of videos do you ever take a vacation!!!???
2.7 turbo Silverado is definitely a different sound. I've had new GM V8's from 1985, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2016, & a 1999 3800 V6. I buy based on incentives, rebates, dealer & manufacturer discounts. I also consider performance (horse/torque, towing/payload), & warranty. I actually enjoy the torque from the low rpm, throaty, grunty pull / sound from 2.7.
TFL truck tested 0-60 on both and the Ford was over a second faster.
With 2 more cylinders and 1 more turbo, kinda pathetic if you ask me.
I believe the routes were too short in order to get an accurate fuel economy rating.
Doesn't the H.O. version of the GM 2.7 only comes with the new interior?
I have it and it's great motor as for power and torque, but sound is horrible and MPG is not that better.
Last year,
I got ford 2.7 with 2 hair dryers (my first)
I came from a coyote v 8 and before that a Honda normally aspirated v6
Larger pistons in the 4 cylinder plus the dual volute turbo means the GM 2.7T spools it's turbo much quicker. It has 90% of its 430lb-ft of torque by 1500rpm(430lb-ft at 3000rpm).
It's the 4 cylinder engine in the all new Traverse built the same way as the 2.7 from the Canyon and Colorado? If not I am not interested. Is it durable and reliable?
F150 has max torque at 2500 rpm.
In many ways, the GM 2.7 "acts" like a small diesel.....low down grunt. You just don't get the mileage.
@@blang38I have a 2.7l in a Silverado 1500, and the v8 diesel in a Silverado 3500. They get the exact same mileage.
Granted the weight to power ratio between the two is different, but in the real world they drink the same amount of fluid to go the same distance.
I have a 2022 Silverado custom with the 2.7 and I average around 20.5 MPG driving city and hwy combination and although I don`t tow much the four banger has more than enough punch for a truck.
Give me that 2.7 liter 4 cylinder in a S10 sized truck and you've got a deal. That engine in a 1500 is just OK.
Just remember that extra punch that you're feeling in the F-150 actually comes from lower gearing . The Silverado is only a 3.42 . I'm getting ready to swap ring and pinion for a 3.73 . It'll probably only cost about 150 RPM .
Own a 2018 F150 2.7! It’s a force to be reckoned with. Showed tail lights to many 5.7 Hemi’s. Due to the minimal engine weight, an extremely potent power plant.
It weighs about 5lbs less than the 5.0L
@@Desert_turtle and it still spanks the five oh😝
I have Silverado 2022.5 with the 2.7 for about 6 month now..
this is my first chevy pickup. Before i had 2019 ram 1500 with the Hemi.
For sure now i have better fuel economy with the silverado but i miss the Hemi Sound.
For the rest, interior soundproofing is better on the chevy side.
I recommend the chevy !
I still prefer a V8
Made me happy to hear that GM was investing for their next generation engines being V8s
So I'm in an interesting position. I own both of these trucks. The 2024 f150 stx 2.7 twin turbo and the 2024 Chevy Silverado Z71 trail boss. I use the ford for work and the Chevy for personal use. It was a very difficult decision to chose between the two. But if I could do it all over again I think I would go the Chevy route solely because of the price. The ford I picked up at 52k after taxes and the Chevy I got at 48k after taxes. So Chevy was way more willing to negotiate on pricing while Ford didn't want to give me the time of day.
I can break the tires lose on my 2.7 Chevy easily. It actually surprised me when I first did it. I do like the my Chevy but I’m a Chevy person whatever that means. Ford’s I think have the best looking trucks right now.
Do these come with a dental dam?
Doesn't the 150 sounds slightly better though?
Bought a new '23 Custom Silverado 4wd crew cab 2.7 turbo a few months ago. $50,500 sticker, bought for $36,800 (+ tax). A 5.3 equipped truck would have cost $6,000 more. Bought 40,000 miles worth of (87 octane) gasoline w/ that $6,000. Same payload and towing, but 2.7 turbo makes 430 ft lbs of torque (at lower rpm) compared to 383 ft lbs of 5.3 V8. (Ford 2.7 rated at 325 horse & 400 ft lb torque). 5 yr - 60,000 mile drivetrain warranty. 2.7 GM now referred to as Turbomax,.. similar to diesel Duramax, because of diesel like engineering of 2.7, but runs on 25% less expensive fuel. Considering the afm & dfm lifters failure issues, it seems as though diehards are willing to to accept less torque, pay more, & risk lifter failure to stay w/ V8.
Pistones más grandes ayudan a dar más par. Es lo que tiene la silverado.
Por contra, los pistones más pequeños del ford facilitan la subida de revoluciones.
Just an FYI, the Ford has a GVWR of 6800 lbs for the 2 wheel drive and 6900 lbs for a 4X4, the Chevy has a GVWR of 7000 lbs that is why Chevy has a greater payload capacity.
I'm still waiting for one of them to make a 3.6L turbo inline 6 cylinder gas engine, I could see GM doing it, especially since Ford is probably going to keep on going with the 3.5L V6 EB.
Have you seen the new Chrysler "Hurricane" engine?
It's a twin turbo inline 6.
Already sold in the new Jeep Wagoneer (massive SUV)
It's destined for the other SUVs and rumored to replace the Hemi in the charger/challenger
I have a one wheel drive 2018 F150 with the 2.7 ecoboost and I raced it down the 1/4 track and it ran a 14.88@ 96.90mph. I hope to have it for a few more years. I have 93,???? Miles on it now no problem with motor
Longevity (trouble-free) ownership is usually the most enduring impression people will have with ownership.
I'm sure the verdict is out there on the internet.
I was just doing some research as I now have a 2020 Chevy Silverado with 2.7L 4 cylinder as a work truck and own a 2022 Ford Edge ST with 2.7 Ecoboost twin turbo 2.7L v-6 when I came across this video. Good job with the comparison. I've only had the Chevy a couple of days and was surprised at how quick it is. the Edge ST is faster of course as it is lighter and setup as a sport tuned vehicle. The 2017 GMC Sierra with 4.3L N.A. v-6 I had as the previous work truck was slow but reliable and got near the same mpg via the dash computer vs the 34,000 miles of 19.8 mpg on the dash computer of the 2020 chevy.
The Edge is averaging 19.5 mpg. Last fill up was only 16.2 mpg, manually calculated. I was a bit heavy on the gas pedal that tank full.
Folks should not be afraid of these turbo motors. Yes they are a bit more complicated but change that oil more often (5k depending on use), keep the air filters clean and change the plugs a bit earlier and you won't have any issues.
Im a Ford guy, and I gotta say, the 4cyl Chevy might do just fine, but it sounds terribly to me. Ya, no thanks. I stick with the v6. I have the 3.7ltr in my f150, and I love it. On the last 400 mile freeway trip, I set the cruise at 77 and averaged 19.9. Ill take that in a big ol' 4door truck! Love that thing. They should have kept the 3.7....and never went to the 3.3😢
What was the axle ratio on each truck?
GM uses a 3.42 with the 2.7
Ford 3.55
