    I'm in the middle of testing foundations, too, and the Bourjois Healthy Mix has been my HG for years now. It's also carried on the Walgreen's website (for a bit more than ASOS). Thank you so much for doing such a thorough job!!

    So excited to see all of these reviews and comments about foundations! I am 62 and getting pigmentation spots on my cheeks, as well as enlarged pores on my nose. Angie, you are so thorough - making videos during application, and later a review! Thanks!

      If you like light coverage foundation and you have dry skin, you will LOVE Skinn Cosmetic's Plasma Fusion Nourishing Serum Foundation. I bought the medium set for around $15 (I actually think it was $12.99) and it includes 2 medium foundations - one is a little lighter than the other. It was a great deal - couldn't pass it up. I also bought 2 6-pan palettes and love them sooo much. The pigmentation and blendability is amazing and the shadows are very large.

    Great review Angie! Big thanks to you for all of the reviews you do because they have really helped me decide what is best for my own "mature skin". I'm 55 and went through a rough time finding what works and I'm still on the hunt for a foundation that just rocks my world. I think those days are past for me lol...but I still have some hope that I'll find the holy grail foundation for my skin someday. Menopause was like a wrecking ball lol and 9 yrs. later, it hasn't stopped...groan. Thanks again...love your videos!

    Fabulous Ang! You completed my to do list of foundations to try with one exception. The Guerlain Lingerie one. I am so excited. I now know I want to get the Bourjous next:) Awesome info as usual!! Thanks for continuing to keep us informed:)) I just tried the Makeup Forever Matte Velvet and it's ok but still not what I'm looking for. Currently loving the IT CC, IT Celebration powder and Covergirl 3-in-1. I think with the anti aging products my skin had changed from oliy/combo to comb/dry. I also been loving the Clarisonic Aria (my skin had never felt so clean) and the Josie Maran serums all of them! They are amazing and really healing my skin. Hugs!

    Thank you Angie for your research! I was recently color-matched at Sephora and was going to get samples of several of the ones you mentioned in not having liked, so you saved me some time/work, thx! I too have been on the hunt for a HG foundation. I loved Lancome's Teint Idole but cannot wear it for its chemical sunscreen w/my hyperpigmentation. Additionally, I think the Revlon Colorstay wore great and looked really well at the end of the day on you :)

    Thx Angie! I appreciate you putting yourself out there to help all of us who are struggling with problems associated with mature & aging skin. Your videos are fun, well organized & informative. In the future, would you please consider telling us the shade for each foundation? My skin tone is lighter than yours & it would be help me hone in on my correct shade. Additionally, I was wondering if you noticed that the foundations you tried, w/the exception of Revlon & Bourjois, looked a bit blotchy or uneven immediately after they were applied? Was this a real effect or something to do with the camera &/or lighting? Many thanks!

    • @AngieHotandFlashy
      @AngieHotandFlashy  10 лет назад +1

      When filming I show the color I'm trying, but this time it ended up being edited out (people always complain these videos are too long...) I'll put all the colors in the info. box when I get back from vaca. I'd say they were probably blotchy and uneven (some even after applying 2 coats).

    I'm not surprised by the outcome of this test. That's the foundation I use daily, even when I had oilier skin, it worked fine for me. When I get more redness I use the 1,2,3 version; and only when I get angry red skin I use Bye Bye Redness from iT cosmetics. Love your reviews, very helpful. :)

  • @Chgogal1

    Great Job Angie,
    I cracked up listening to some of the comments your daughters made about the various foundations you had tried. Kids can be brutally honest. I was really excited to watch this video since I too have been battling dry skin these past two years, especially this year since I started using Retin A.
    Nars Sheer Glow is a lot of hype, but I found that if I apply it very lightly it works better. If you apply it too heavy it does seem to stay tacky.
    The Neutrogenia Healthy Skin is a nice foundation (nice but not fantastic) and it has an spf as well. I like to use that one in the summer over my sunscreen.
    However, unfortunately I have not found a foundation that I really love either so basically, I have resorted to using a BB cream most days.
    Have you every tried Tarte Amazonian Clay Powder foundation? I am intrigued by that one, and would love to know how that one works on dry skin. If you decide to test more foundations, can you test that one.
    Thanks again.

    Hi! I share the dry skin problem with you and often find foundations that just make the dry areas stand out. I finally found a super cheap and affordable foundation that wears really well and seems to get the job done for my dry skin! It's called "Wet n' Wild Cover-All Cream Foundation" I am a young user of this product so I don't really have wrinkles or fine lines for it to settle into but I do have pores and this foundation seems to stay afloat rather than sinking into them! The claims on this product are:
    *All Day Wear
    *Medium to Full Coverage
    *Light-Weight, satin-matte finish
    *Visibright TM complex reduces the appearance of wrinkles and rejuvenates skin.
    This foundation doesn't really feel caked-on when I wear it. After a day in school, I don't really notice any spots wear it's rubbed off or become shiny. It stays on pretty nicely for me and still looks good after Gym class! 😄 I get it at Walmart for about $4. I wear the shade "817 Light Pale". Before I apply this product, I apply "Garnier Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen Ultra-Lift Transformer Anti-Age Skin Corrector" which is really moisturizing for my skin type. I strongly recommend that you try these two together! I don't usually wear a setting powder with them and it stays on fine. Some days when I go without the Garnier product, I still feel like I look the same as I would with it on. Very affordable and I hope it works for you if you decide to try it! 😊

    I love how detailed you are in your videos! It's so funny when you said that the Nars would make your face collect dust and other things! I have not tried the Nars, but today for the first time I tried using the Revlon Age Rewind, and all this stuff is sticking on my face, like black specks and little hairs.. even though I powdered it. I just thought that was funny because it's never happened in my life and it was happening to me at the very moment you were saying that about the Nars in this video haha

    You don't have to spend a fortune to get good makeup. Bourjois is produced in the same labs as Chanel so it's not surprising that the quality is good. Even though I have a decade on you, powder foundations are still my favourite. I'd like to suggest Lily Lolo, a popular English brand of mineral makeup now available in N. America. Great colours, especially for fair skin, lightweight, buildable coverage, and excellent lasting power on my very combo skin. I gave up liquid foundations when I discovered that several of the mineral powders gave me gorgeous coverage and didn't turn my T-zone shiny by noon. Even in the dead of a Canadian winter, with a good sunscreen/moisturiser, LL is not drying on my cheeks. Love your channel!

    I really love your reviews, Angie! You're always so thorough. btw...Bourjois is available in the US through Drugstore(Dot)com and on Walgreens(Dot)com. My fave formulation from Bourjois is the 10 Hour Sleep Effect b/c it worked the best on my dry mature skin (it doesn't cling at all to flaky patches - not one bit). However, you may not like it b/c it's more of a sheer to light/medium coverage.

    The Revlon ColourStay can be buildable to an even coverage which covers absolutely everything if you use enough. I used it religiously for years, however when my skin changed with age, the product dried my skin out overtime till the point where I had to stop using it.
    If your skin is normal and not prone to drying this product is the ultimate blemish cover foundation and has the perfect balance between dewy and matte - creating an even satin finish.

      Can I tell you a secret? Use Nivea... yeah, that greasy feeling stuff... Put it on your face at night before bed and in the morning your skin's like a baby's butt... You can also use a THIN layer of it under your make up (the colourstay) and it will float on top, kinda like a tinted moisturizer. Then you can build it, as you say. :)

    Great video. thank you. I'm 55 and wold love to find a holy grail makeup. I have to go back and look at your other foundation testing videos! I just finished a bottle of clinique even better makeup which I really liked and plan to repurchase . But before I repurchase I am going to force myself to use up some of the other foundations I've spent money on. such as E.L. Dblwear which everyone raves about but I find it very drying and too dry looking. I wore it today to my zumba class and then to work at my shop and uh. no it didn't look too nice after an hour of brink of death cardio.... I also have some Revlon something or other (not color stay) which is awful.... but I am not buying anything else until I use these dogs up.

  • @debbieps3056
    @debbieps3056 10 лет назад

    You mentioned so many foundations. I have cystic acne and even when using a damp sponge, revlon colorstay in either the dry formula or the oily one( I've trier both cause now I'm on benzoyl peroxide therapy ), can cover my skin pretty descently. And I expected a different coverage out of many of the ones you tested. So I feel the need to ask you to use a more bouncy movement, more stippling motion to apply some of those foundations. I just think you would love their coverage a bit more and there is a good chance that you wouldn't feel that your money was wasted:):) and by the way your videos are awesomeee!!!!!

    I have watched more than 20 of your videos. Many even twice. Love that you are pinning up your hair when you put on your makeup. Love the close up shots this year after each testing. My skin is sensitive like yours, but very very dry. I'm 52 had dry skin when young now dryer with menopause and retin A. Never tried bare minerals, but I find it foundation still too powdery looking. Love the CC cream love the Estée Lauder liquids. But I live in Miami so for summer I will use Jane iredale. I love this mineral foundation. Used at my dermatologist office. Please try this. It really is fantastic. I think it would be perfect for your skin once you stop using spiralactone and then may have some oily breakthrough. It really leaves pore less area. Great videos I will keep watching:)

    The Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum formula is the nicest for mature, dry/combo skin IMHO.

    You should try the Kat Von D foundation. Pick up a sample at sephora. It's got great coverage, not too sheer, is long lasting and applies easily with a beauty blender. It's a great foundation. I've tried SO many brands and this is my favorite for my combo skin.

    I would love it if you would try out the Colorstay for oily skin. It is actually more emollient and better for dry skin then the dry skin version.

    Thanks Angie. Great reviews! I am also in my 50's and have been searching for my holy grail foundation. My skin has changed and, where I used to once look for oil-free foundations, I now feel that a foundation with some moisture for the dehydrated areas of the face is a better choice. Could you please tell me if the Bourjois Foundation is the Healthy Mix or the Healthy Mix 'Serum' Foundation. I see both at the drugstore here. Thanks!

      The one I used is the Healthy Mix, but now I'm curious about the serum.

      Thanks Angie! Would love to hear your thoughts on the serum if you decide to review. Love your channel for us 'mature' women. The work you do to investigate ingredient lists, etc. is so helpful!

    I always appreciate how thorough your comparison videos are. I just noticed this was a month ago. I had a couple that I wanted to see you do if you do another video of this kind as you did a couple last year. How about Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse, The Sephora spray on, (really big on YT lately) and super high end Koh Gen Doh--is supposed to be the be all end all, maybe a Holy Grail? The other 2 I thought would be interesting since they are different in format? Anyway I learned a lot form this. I am glad to see you gain so much popularity, you deserve it.

      Thanks for the suggestions, Mary! I'll put them on the list for future foundation tests since that Holy Grail is soooo elusive!!

    I appreciate this review, since I have dry skin. I wanted to know how you found the right shade in the drugstore brands? I know that Bourjois can only be ordered in the US online. You and I do seem to have the same skin tone and coloring, so I would probably be okay with the shade you chose. But I always like to test a product in the stores. As for the makeup people in department stores giving you the wrong shades, that doesn't surprise me. I have had that experience too many times. For years I have been using Prescriptives Custom Blend liquid foundation. They are not in stores anymore, but have an online website where my formula is registered. It's pricey, but I get a shade blended to my skin tone with the coverage that I like.

    I'm trying to test foundations as well. My high end choice right now is Clinique Superbalanced Makeup and so far I'm quiet pleased with it. I love the Revlon Colorstay for a drug store brand & was so excited to find one I like from the drug store. Right now, however, I'm trying the L'Oreal Visible Lift with Absolute Serum and I'm still on the fence with it. Unlike you, I do use a powder to blot my face probably once or twice a day. I've never found a foundation, high end or otherwise, that doesn't end up somewhat shiny by midday. Thanks for the great video!!

      @AngieHotandFlashy  10 лет назад

      Have you tried Estee Lauder Double Wear Light? It doesn't get shiny... so no blotting needed.

      Not yet, but that's my next high end foundation to try. I saw where you loved it so much, so I will certainly be giving it a try. Thanks so much for your videos! I look forward to watching them!

    Well the Bourjois definitely looked the best on you. Now you've done it...I'm going to have to have it. Wouldn't you know the drugstore foundation that looked the best can't be bought in the US. Sigh...
    For your next foundation round I would like to suggest Time Balm from The Balm. It's a cream foundation that is medium ( but buildable) coverage and works well with dry skin. It especially looks nice when applied with a sponge. It's long wearing on me. I would be interested to know your thoughts on it. You can actually buy it and color match it at Kolhs . They carry most of The Balm line now. It's $28.00 so not high end or low end. I have dry skin and I'm loving this stuff!

    Thank's for sharing! You look great in this video! This weekend I've been mixing cover girl three in one and benefit oxygen wow and it's been beautiful ! Sounds weird but it works differently and one foundation is on the matte side but the coverage is good and the benefit is for more Glowey color matches very well and along with beauty blender the coverage is great!

    Angie, thanks for another of your thorough reviews. One question.....did you set each of these with powder? That's where I run into trouble..the minute I apply even a light dusting of powder, my foundation starts looking dry and cakey. Perhaps you could test some setting powders for us!
