    Congratulations! I am a 48-year-old perimenopausal woman, a scientist, and a cell biology professor.
    You did an amazing job analyzing data, scientific bias, and commenting on important and limiting aspects of topic treatments (passing through the skin layers and basal membrane and stability)!

    Hi Angie I was a Registered Nurse for many years and won’t buy growth factors either. The possibility of proliferation of skin cancer cells in the human bioengineered stuff is a big no and plant based - well I am not a plant 😂.
    I have rosacea and eczema so my skin barrier is chronically impaired therefore I use a lot of caution when choosing skin care. My rosacea hates retinoids during true menopause (I could use them carefully prior to becoming fully menopausal), but I believe in their efficacy as a topical treatment. My active of choice is azelaic acid- it has made the biggest difference in how my skin looks. Obviously I use spf and as I live in the UK use ultrasun or Evy with their more longwear modern filters (ultrasun is available on prescription for skin cancer patients btw). Niacinamide is nice, my skin absolutely hates vitamin C and peptides are hydrating😂. There is no miracle cure for aging and I personally am happy to have lived long enough to even worry about it. I was involved in cancer nursing for many of the years spent in that profession and trust me not everyone lives long enough to worry about aging/wrinkling. I want calm, hydrated and moisturised skin but just embrace the signs of aging as a life lived. My smile lines are far more prominent than frown lines so it is a reflection of that life on my face.
    I am not however on camera on social media with all the pressure about how I look that entails, so no judgement etc. I do think procedures will have a far more obvious impact than anything topical, so for those buying 300$ serums saving that money towards a procedure may get you better results. Best wishes x

    • @halfamo2422
      @halfamo2422 Месяц назад +6

      Yes, here for the azelaic acid - makes huge difference to pigmentation (the only thing I really want to get rid of) - and niacinamide (my 66 y o skin was parched, nothing worked, until I discovered it, funnily enough in Cerave) Retinal works well, but so does a 1x week fruit enzyme peel. And why IS vitamin c so problematic - I sweat that was what wrecked my skin barrier and started off kp! Growth factors are such a half-understood science - def not going there.

(live in Scandinavia with dry cold air) I haven't notice any revolutionary results in terms of younger skin more than from the tretinoin I use. I will say though, the capacity to keep moisture in skin and keep dryness at bay, then the Egf is outstanding. I can have the most dry flaky skin, and if I put it on at night, I wake up with soft, moisturized skin that arent dry anymore. And it only requires a tiny drop from the serum, it's potent in that way.

Being and accepting your best self in every stage of life is the healthiest approach. The cosmetic industry is well aware of the “taboo” of aging in our society, especially for women, and they seek to financially capitalize on it. None of us are getting out of this life, “alive”. We are all going to age. Just do the tried and proven: limit sun exposure, wear sunscreen, use a retinoid or tretinoin, moisturize face and body, eat healthily, do both cardio and strength training min of 5 days per week. I am noticing the elasticity and overall plumpness of my skin especially my neck skin is better (not like in my 30’s or anything but it is improved) and my overall skin texture is improving, which was what I was hoping for. I blend three drops of the serum with Vichy Mineral 89 for better slip AM & PM. I have large pores due to sun damage and am post menopausal 56yr old using transdermal HRT. I have been using retin-a for 6yrs thanks to you, and vitamin-c serum as well. This brand is also approved for use with micro needling (I did a series of 4 treatments 3yrs ago and it works well for me with collagen stimulation and pores) so just had one of four in office MN treatment and used this after and my healing time was faster and I was not as red or puffy the next day. I plan to give this a good six months and decide from there, but as of right now I’m liking this addition to my skin care routine and it doesn’t interfere with the other goodies I’m using. I think I personally will skip the growth factors, and continue my experimentation with the vaginal estradiol used topically on my face in combination with the Tretinoin. So far, it's only been 3 weeks of using estradiol twice a week. I most likely need to bump it up.
    By the way, for anyone interested, if you use a Good RX coupon for Tretinoin, for some reason the brand name, Retin-A is cheaper! It's also much creamier and therefore you need less than the generic.
    Timeless Skincare is definitely the way to go for other products. I use all that you have recommended. I would never be without the Vitamin C, nor their Coq-10 serum.

Looking for fine lines and deep wrinkle help. Finally broke down and got the Snail 96 Mucin and eye cream. Was impressed with the hydration. Then I saw a utube video on Cosrx The 6 Peptide Skin Booster so I purchased the peptide along with their Spa Mask and All in one cream. 1st use of the peptide serum I saw immediate plumping of my deep forehead wrinkles. I've only been using less then a week but I'm impressed. Plays well with my Ordinary Retinol. Help with large pores that I've developed post menopause. I've actually been using Adipeau for the last two years and a bit. While it may also do some nice things for the skin, it's primarily a fat cream. That is, it's designed to help with loss of facial fat. I don't think Angie has any significant fat loss at this point, so I don't think Adipeau would do anything for her.
      Based only on my own experience, I think it does work to some extent. It didn't give me filler-type results, but it did restore some fat to the right hand side of my face. Benefits to the left hand side are less noticeable but extant. It's probably worth noting that my left side lost facial fat first. Adipeau also helps with the small hollows on the inside tops of my eyebrows. Alas, it did not help noticeably with my undereye hollows, but I've been happy enough with what it's done that I keep up a maintenance level. Also, it can take time that differs from person to person. For example, a You Tube journalist had some results with it within three months and not much more after that. It took six months for me to see anything (except lip plumping), but in the 7th month I got fast results for a bitand then incremental improvement for about another year. I'm now 72, by the way.

    Such an amazing scientific deep dive. This is exactly why I take Angie's advice. If you listen to anyone else, (but why would you), it would be interesting to see what they say about these products. And how may they link for you to purchase. So many RUclipsrs are all about the hype so you purchase and they get the kickback. Everything that Angie recommends has helped me immensely! Thank you for all you do!

    Have you looked into the anteage line. I have been using it for the last 3 to 4 months. Hard to tell if it's working. I feel like my skin looks better

    Thanks for this. I have been using Stratia peptide cream and I must say I like it. Reasonably priced and you do not need much. Great pump bottle too.

    When I worked in wound care as a nurse, we never used glycerin bc it is a humectant that will draw moisture & beneficial nutrients from deep layers of the skin that eventually leads to dryness and delayed healing. Although glycerin is marketed as a sought-after ingredient, I personally avoid it for that reason.

    Thank you Angie for doing the research for us on GF. I've been toying with the idea of purchasing the Allies of Skin GF serum for a whooping AUD$345 for 30mls. You've saved me from spending my hard earned money and the disappointment of not seeing the results I would've expected. Thank you, thank you, thank you ❤
