Another essential spare part I have learned is quite nice to have on hand for any particular generator is a set of fairly easily to change out brushes. Also don't forget to check your spark arrestor for soot build up. You may be surprised. Oh and...change the oil more frequently. My 2 cents!

Over a half inch of accumulating ice is something to take seriously. I remember the Rochester, NY ice storm of March 1991 where we got one full inch of all freezing rain. It crippled our city for about a week and 90% of our entire area lost power. School was closed for a whole week, and some were in the dark for nearly two weeks. About 25% of all the trees were heavily damaged or destroyed.
Ice is the worst, not just for driving, mobility, but all the power lines down, trees aswell. For example, the massive icestorm in Eastern Canada Jan 1998, 3-5 storms in succesion, 110mm, 4.331 in of ice, some people where out of power for a month, much livestock died as well as 34 people. $5-7 billion damage. I'll take snow anyday and 'I am Canadian'!
Down in Lincoln and I legit hope we get snowed and iced over. I've been wanting snow for a while. Plus it might equal a snowday(or week depending on the conditions)

My mom remembers the north Mississippi ice storm of 1994. 300 million in damage. She was without power 27 days. Over six inches of ice so it was a foot wide on the power lines. #2 on worst ice storm of all times.

We've got plenty of food and flashlights but I figure if we get an ice storm we'll have to all Pile in my husband's truck and make the 14 Mi journey to my parents house. They have a whole home generator. They also have extra bedrooms and love their grandkids! Lol. We'll just bring all our food over to their house

Here in Houston usually if it gets really cold and icy, our power grid can’t handle it, and it gets where people are so cold. They have no way of keeping warm unless they have a generator or stay in their car.

Why are we looking at Kuchera measures? This storm isn't going to produce precip at 10:1 liquid ratios. Why is the GFS ever referenced for winter storms? It's horrible at winter weather.

For those w/gas generators, check the carborators for old fuel/gunk build-up from last year.

I lived downtown during the 2011 snowpacolypse. It was weird to be the only ones out during it. The city was silent. 😂

3-6" is not a " very dangerous storm," this winter has been incredibly mild overall, will probably stay that way
