@@ElonaldTrusk So simple but truly a perfect cutting tool. Thumb ramp is flat, the design is at its best scale between the lil native and shaman, the finger choil makes the most sense with a back lock, spyderco's back lock is almost the best on the market, I could go on.

The clicking sound was probably the machining of the ball cage. I dealt with that on my titanium manix 2 when I put flytanium cages in my two. It can happen even from them, eventually smoothed out. It's a shame because I think it's a necessity to do this on a manix 2, the plastic ball cage feels cheap. Haven't broken the factory cage myself but I've seen two others that broke. This is actually one of the strongest locks on the market once upgraded to aluminum or titanium, still awkward to actuate though.
I've got the all white manix 2 lightweight and did strip out a screw and eventually had to drill the scew out just to switch the pocket clip to the other side. I love Spyderco and their products but somebody has obviously gotten a lil carried away with the lock tite because I've heard of several people having the same problem
My biggest worry about making a Maxix/XL my goto folder is cold. That’s a a lot of plastic for n very crucial roles. I’ve watched the plastic al pot apart in cold weather just being bumped into by a poofer jacket. Hard use knives really need to be immune to earth temps.. or to nerve wracking. Oh and the one Spyderco I tried to disassemble the screws striped out and two didn’t go back in right. Last time I did that.
I got one in Rex 45. Same clicking noise. Doesn’t annoy me too bad. I plan of changing the ball and cage. Hopefully it fixes the problem. I put OG aluminum scales on it. The pocket clip screw had a ridiculous amount of loctite on it. I ended up destroying the LW scales to put vise grips on it. Got it out. Why they would do that on a screw they know has a high probability of being removed is beyond me.
They don't want you to take it apart. Honestly I don't mind though, I hate when a screw backs out and gets lost. The first thing I do with every knife I have with screws is taken each screw out one at a time and put GREEN Loc-Tite on them.
Regarding those tight screws: I don't know if Spyderco still uses it but they used to use the red thread locker which is very hard to break unless you heat it up with something like a hair dryer. If you have difficulty unscrewing your new Manix try heating the screws. Hope this helps.
I have a Manix 2 Lightweight I bought maybe a month ago. Mine is the CTS BD1N version. Never had any clicks or crunchy noises from disengaging the lock. I sincerely hope that lady you spoke too is wrong, because I'd have to agree that would turn me off from buying a Manix 2 again. If I had to guess, it sounds like lock stick (somehow). But why a ball bearing would have lock stick I have no idea. Maybe the cage was installed upside down?
@yuyuhaio That's a very true statement! Why, after all these years and now the lady is telling me, "This is how it will be going forward." I was certainly baffled.
I don't hear anything out of the ordinary, all manix 2 versions make a clicking when the lock ball engages and disengages on and off the blade, not sure if that's what you are hearing or not though, would have to hear it and i could not hear anything in the video
The finish on that blade is nice maybe it’s just lighting but is that stone washed? I have a satin m4 lw and a dlc one and I absolutely love both of them

It’s called lock stick. Sounds extremely minor. Rex 45 lw manix did the same for me. Awt scales, a ceramic ball and aluminum ball cage later and it’s smooth as butter. It should work itself out after a while if you don’t wanna mod it.
@SlamJamBlades It has nothing to do with lock stick. If you remember what I said in this video, Spyderco told me this was going to be an ongoing thing going forward with how they were manufactured.

My problem with the manix 2 is I always want to grab the native 5 instead.
I have a native 5 lw, stock clip, s30v... A basic bitch. 😂 I love it. It has the most solid lock up for a backlock, like absolutely no play.

Same here. Went to swap the clip out and the D shaped “pivot” stripped out. Just took the blade out and put it in a g10 Manix 2.

The most likely issue is the ball cage is slightly out of spec and too large. The ball can rattle around.
Thanks for sharing your experience 👍
@@DustinFlu Absolutely! 👉
the noise is a non issue unless you have ocd and use some heat on the screws to soften locktite before removal....
My LW version makes that sound too, my Crucarta don't. It don't bother me. It may go away after a year or two.

If it really bothers you can try putting in a ceramic ball and see if that quiets it up.
