S30V Bodacious: $260. S30V Manix 2: $160. Nuff said.
And I completely get where you're coming from. Thank you
@@KnivesFAST Of course, my preference would be for the Tempest Fractus ... which I got last week! 😁
@@michaelinsc9724 excellent!!!!!
Rex 45 Manix 2LW for $106!! Spend another bone on OG scales, still only at $200 ish
To me, the Manix is too ugly. And I love that aesthetics of the Shaman.
I love the Manix 2 also
Absolutely!
It took so long to get my Shaman, I can't just replace it with the new option. Plus, I love the contoured handles, I like a thicker knife, and I have the 15V version. I love my Shaman. No one can take it from me!!!
Lol. Yeah, I'm not getting rid of mine right now either. I'm just given options for folks. But I hear where you're coming from. Thanks
Love the Shaman… the contoured scales are just special compared to most other Spydercos. I feel they should have kept the contours, deleted the choil, kept the name “Shaman” and just made it an alternative configuration.
That I could get on board with. Maybe they'll do another one if they get that kind of feedback. Thanks
I second this idea. Just call it the "Shaman 2."
Awesome video! Have the DLC Shaman in M4, Cruwear, and XHP steels. Can't wait for the exclusives of the Bodacious to arrive in the coming years. Thanks for sharing! 👍
Very awesome that you have those! And yes I like it a lot. Thank you so much
Helpful review as always, KC! I've been wanting to pick up a Shaman, but a few things have always put me off (unnecessary choil for such a large knife, and the notorious nub that creates), so it looks like a fusion between the Shaman and the Bodacious is what I really want. Those contoured scales on the Shaman are a big part of what sells me on it, so a shame to see them not present on the Bodacious (though I understand many will prefer the flat scales).
I'm sure somebody is making aftermarket contoured scales for the bodacious, but I'm not sure who right now. If I find out, I'll let you know. Thanks!
@@KnivesFAST Thanks a bunch, bud! I really appreciate that. ☺️
I have some Spyderco knives, but most are the budget line, Tenacious, Resilience and such because I am not a fan of forward finger choils. This brings me to the Bodacious, I'm liking the looks of it! Thank you KC for sharing your opinion.
Gotcha. That's why I'm glad there's so many choices so we can all pick what we like. Thanks
I have Spyderco's with choils and without choils. I prefer the models with the choil. I don't need a longer blade because its illegal over 3.5 inches anyway.
Gotcha. That definitely makes an impact. And I would be okay with either but just stating what I prefer. Thanks
I like the blade, the price is high as expected, for collectors and Spyderco fanatics (me included)
Definitely high but not astronomical in my opinion. But something to think about for sure. Thanks
I didn't know they made this! This is a really cool alternative to the Shaman.
Definitely a cool alternative with some key differences. Thanks
Love the comparison KC
Thank you Mike. Appreciate it
It’s so weird to me that out of all the different possibilities they have for new models they decided to make a more expensive shaman with no choil and objectively worse scales. Why not a mini shaman/comp lock native 5, or a new model with the ball bearing lock? Or smock style button compression lock versions of the pm2, para 3 etc or tanto and wharnie para 3s… or a wharnie manix?!
I’m sure people would be way more excited about any of those ideas than this model. Don’t get me wrong I’m sure it’s a great knife just a bit underwhelming as a rare new spyderco model.
I wish they would be innovative like that. I'm on board with that. But I can't just ignore this knife. It's not bad and I actually like when a larger knife doesn't have a choil and gives me more blade. Thanks
Theoretically, if one already has a Shaman, is the Bodacious worth the $ to upgrade. Or should I just be happy with what I have? (No knife person has ever followed through with that thought)
On the surface of your question I would say no. My issue is with a larger knife where I don't really need a choil on the blade would I rather have more blade and the question in this case is yes. But everybody's answers going to be different. Thanks
Not a huge Spyderco fan but I can appreciate their allure and quality. Thanks KC
Totally understand Tim. Not for everyone for sure. Thanks
I like a finger choil so it’s the shaman for me. I only recently got the shaman so I’m more inclined to pick it.
Sounds good man. Awesome. Thanks
Love my bodacious and I chose it for the same reasons. I put Titanium RSD scales on mine with a lynch clip and the action is fantastic. Probably my favorite knife.
Good to know man. Great stuff. Thanks
Nice. I put some OD green canvas Micarta on mine. Had extra pair... on ebay. Half price
We talking shaman scales right? No actual Bodacious scales out yet right?
Bodacious scales. Rockscale design and lynch nw makes em. I’m not sure that shaman scales would be compatible with the bodacious.
I have the Shaman and checked the Bodacious out. It was an immediate no due to the flat, cheap-feeling scales. Otherwise, the knife is solid in all other aspects. Then, there's the price tag. Oy, vey! Did Spyderco get it wrong or what?
Yeah I mean I don't think it's that far off. I think it's just different. But I hear you. It's not for everyone. And yeah I'm not sure about the price. Thanks
Yeah, all those dudes running around with those cheap feeling flat g10 scales on decades worth of Spydercos absolutely hating on them.
Always funny to see people complain about materials that have been around just because they're not new. Flat Spyderco g10 handles are easily some of the highest quality handles you can get on a knife.
I like those Spyder Co. Thanks KC.
Nice! Thanks
Hard choice, both are nice. Thanks for sharing KC, be safe.
You're very welcome and yeah you can't go wrong. Thanks
I looked at both of them and chose the shaman, I dropped the shaman the first day I had it and knocked it off center and it won’t reenter so I wish I would’ve bought the bodacious. Shaman just too slippery on factory scales.
Yeah, I definitely want to replace the scales on my shaman. It's a good knife but not with the original scales. Thanks
The price sucks but it’s it a spyderco and not a bitchmade lol I spelled that wrong on purpose 😂
Hahah. Right. It's a bit heavy high but way less that a BM. Thanks
Very interesting
Comparison not surprised by your choice
Thanks for watching Keith. Yeah really interesting comparison
Awesome review 🙏
Thank you 😁
Bodacious backlock o or Framelock would be awesome.
Definitely would be cool. Thanks
Need more blade? You can get a Manix 2XL for $205. No brainer. Don't get me wrong. I love my Shaman and wouldn't mind having a Bodacious but I can name several other knives at that price point that I'd buy before either.
Fair enough. I still want to try and XL at some point. Appreciate it. Jim.
@@KnivesFAST want to borrow mine?
@@bigjim55able I mean if you want to send it for comparisons and review I would definitely take you up on it if you're okay with that
@@KnivesFAST Sure. I have that Dead Reckon Knives Ridgeback too.
I'm a fan. Love my Shaman. May pick up a Bodacious.
Very nice. I really enjoyed checking it out. But both are great. Thanks
I'd go shaman but both are good
Good choice. Can't go wrong. Thanks
Hands down Bodacious. There are so many Spyderco knives I do not care for due to the stupid choils on the blades.
Well then they made this one for you. Thanks
@@KnivesFAST And thank you much for the reply my Bladed Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲
What you going to do with an extra half inch of blade.....
Cut!!. Thanks for watching
no
Ok. Thanks for watching
Those 😂knifes not worth almost 300 bucks because they probably making across seas for penny’s on the dollar
Well they're made in Colorado which is in the US and I would say price is up to each individual. Thanks
Value is subjective, but have you ever owned a Spyderco?
And these are made in the USA.
