    The compression lock is not like a backwards liner lock. The compression lock actually has a spot milled into the blade that it interacts with, unlike a liner lock that just springs into the way of the blade and you move it out of the way to close. Compression is stronger than your typical liner lock.

    Ha ! This is absolutely a knife everyone should own (Paramilitary 2 *or* Para3, depending on hand size). I can still remember the time that these were *So Hard* to obtain because they sold out quickly & Spyderco didn't have their factory outlet expanded yet. They were like a Hinderer or Sebenza. Always out of stock. And this was just the standard black or digital camo s30v version. Now they are readily available, which is great. I still have a small stash of 3 or 4 new in box O.G s30v Paramilitary 2's from them. Never had any issue with my very first one.. after years & years of use. It's a knife that will last over a decade. My blade has shrunk a bit from sharpening & the DLC is worn nicely.. but it still performs flawlessly with s30v. Great knife for sure !! I always recommend these & some pivot lube if someone has a $150-200 budget (spyderco used Militec-1 lubricant on it's U.S.A manufactured knives in the mid 00's.. so they probably still do. Great lubricant. Especially for a PM2.)

      @doodysdaggers  Год назад +2

      Very interesting! I didn’t know they were so rare when they first came out. I agree, as time goes on and I handle more and more different knives, I still think the PM2 is one of the best designs ever. Looks wise it’s not for everyone, but you can’t deny that it’s just built for work. Amazing ergos, perfect blade shape. Thanks for the comment and for watching! 🤠

      @@doodysdaggers Yeah man. In the mid 00's.. they were constantly Out of Stock. It was crazy. Very frustrating. I ended up buying x2 digital & x2 black (one satin and one DLC of each model) when I could because they literally couldn't keep up with demand. Now I have many different versions but I always carry one variation. I'm sure you know.. never had a failure on you. Always ready to work. Stiff lockup.

    Yuuuup! Fully agree. Imo there are a handful of absolutely MANDATORY Spydercos every collector should have.
    You HAVE to have the classic Spyderco, the Delica or Endura.
    You HAVE to have the venerable PM-2 or a Military. You HAVE to have the best reasonably sized and overbuilt hard use knife, the manix-2. And finally, you HAVE to have another classic, either the native, the Sage or the chapparel.
    From there it comes down to specifics of one's tastes. Spyderco has so many greats. You can just go wild!
    Once you have the "Big 4" you can just waller in the goodness!

    Just to help solidify ur point on how awesome the pm2 is, the other liner locks use the pushing plate itself to hold the blade open and to collapse the blade, the compression lock doesnt , it actually allows a bigger piece of metal to hold the blade open. Which proves that its safer. Great huh? I love mine also.

    IMHO anyone with a vague interest should definitey buy a PM2. As their first Spydrco. Becasue every company has a signature product/model. For Spyderco it's the PM22. For Benchmade it's the 940 Osbourne...
    ...from there it's up to the us where we go from the PM2...do we stick with Spydrco and buy more? Or do you end up hating the design for whatever the reason?? :) Everyone has their list of wants in a folder's design. For me one of the items is having a "full metal linder" and maybe a metal back spacer. Soemthing overlooked by many "knife heads" or guys like me with a casual interest. Why most Benchmade knives dn't interest me. ..besides their high asking prices for what I feel is a "lesser" brand because most models lack "metal liners/ful". ...e.g. the Bugout...obvious flex in the scales...looks cheap...is there still flex in the alu scales on standard 940's? Shrug...

      @@doodysdaggers Nah it's not for me either honestly. There are a few Spyderco models that I do like the blade shape (Ikuchi, Spydiechef... "maybe" a shaman or manix). I just really don't like any duckbill, or any where the spine side of the blade (by the spydie hole) hump up. I prefer the spine/non sharpened side to be more traditional (flat like or slowly sloping down/drop pointy, idk lol). I'm perfectly OK with a harpoon type blade or more traditional type... but if the spine has to "hump up" to go around the spydie hole, I have zero interest regardless of the materials or customization. It's all personal preference. Hell, as a lefty I don't like to buy any knife without a rear flipper and a side button or compression lock. Yea I'm VERY picky 😂 but if I'm going to spend a couple hundred dollars (or more) on a knife, then I expect to like the basic design/shape right out of the box before I modify it. Actually man, the compression lock is a lot stronger than a liner lock because it uses the crossbar as a standard liner. Lock does not have a crossbar.

    How did you get yours to drop close so easy I have a pm2 with copper flytanium scales and it won’t drop at all

      Is it new? Mine took a while to break in well. It just keeps getting smoother and smoother. You can also loosen the pivot screw a little bit. Sometimes if you want drop shut you may have a very little blade wiggle

      Not quite, on my left hand it used to say “dumb” and I’m in the process of covering it up. Drunk tattooing isn’t always a great idea. 😉
