My very first premium knife was a PM2, blacked-out w/ S30V. I recently picked up the Crucarta PM2 and damn…it’s given me a whole new respect for the PM2, overall. I had been searching for that next tier knife to blow my cash on. Chaves was in there…WE, CRK and some others. But, honestly, I’d be perfectly content owning nothing but Spyderco knives. Especially the PM2. It only took me 5-6 years and a couple grand to come full circle and end up with this revelation. And, it feels good, man.

My first "big" knife was the Manix 2 lw in s110v. That was years ago, and the addiction flew off the handle afterward. But now days, I havnt bought a knife in a while. I want to, but I have so many now that I just use them.

I agree wholeheartedly. I have $800 knives and though they are beautiful to look at... none are as ergonomic or useful as my Spyderco's. I'm fondest of the Para Military 2 and Delica 4. I own 2 Delica 4's and 1 PM2 but am finding myself looking for another PM2. I'd like to have one in each of my vehicles and 1 or 2 kicking around for EDC. Not sure if that's normal or excessive? Lol. I have a Cold Steel Espada too but it's just too damn big for EDC... stunning knife though.

I've carried a blue m390 model almost everyday for about 8 years now. The only reason I'm even looking at new knives is because I've sharpened it down to where it's basically a sliver at this point. It's probably the best investment I've ever made.

PS: My PM2 hasn't seen any use since I got a K390 Stretch, it's a better knife in every "user knife" way. If you like to use knives this is a knifeguy knife for sure.

@jeffrey abrahamse VG-10 Endura was my first Spyderco, I love it but I the Stretch is so much better. I thought the Stretch was bigger due to the name, but the Endura is actually the bigger knife overall lol. And I agree with Pete on his point where Stretch is a better performing PM2. Thinner stock and grind, better ergos thanks to backlock and FRN handles. Boxy scales on the PM2 are a hot-spots and the compression lock just tends to dig into your palm which are non-issues on an FRN back lock.

I was very curious and happy when I saw you post this because I have been thoroughly impressed with Spyderco’s more recent cruwear and more specifically the “Crucarta” pm2 which has been my work carry for many months now. Over the last few years Cruwear has become my favorite all around steel, it’s got good edge holding while being very durable and not too difficult to maintain or sharpen. On top of that, it’s corrosion resistance is surprising considering the class of steel it’s in. I’m not always the most cautious when it comes to keeping blades clean and my crucarta still looks brand new when I properly wipe down the blade. Maybe it’s in part due to Spyderco’s heat treat and hardness which has been reported to run around 63-65RC I believe but it also just seems cruwear is not a stain prone as steels like M4 or K390 and is much more along the lines of 3V. On a side note Benchmade seems to be getting a fair amount of positive feedback on their cruwear as well although I can’t say I’ve put mine through the ringer like I have with my cruwear pm2.

Once I figure out what I needed to sharpen it, I had a ball with it. I've used the absolute piss out of it to where the DLC coating is showing good amounts of wear. I still carry it semi frequently because I don't want to forget it. It's what got me out of sub $50 knives. As you said though, the k390 stretch 2 is basically better all around and nothings booted it out of my pocket for any amount of time since, and I share the same sentiment about the Para 3, I don't carry mine much. Honestly the knife was a bit of a let down. Blades too thick, too wide, handles too boxy. It should have been slimmed down, thinned out and also shortened into a little edc blade. But then that would just be a delica then wouldn't it?

Hey Pete, not sure of you'll see this or care but they do have portable battery operated fans.
Look up Venty fan for the best on the market if you don't have electric outlets in your shead. Sadly that is also the most expensive option and shipping to you wouldn't be cheap so you can always get a desktop fan off amazon and use an external battery bank (like one to charge your phone) to keep the fan running for a long while.
I'm just sure a slight breeze would be a godsend while sharpening knives in the Austrila heat

Just bought a PM 2 in Cruwear, have one in S110v that is really nice, BUT...I found it too chippy. I have 2 fixed blades in Cruwear that I love, so this PM2 should be a good fit.
Have used Magnacut 😍😍, hope they produce a PM 2 in that as well, and not just the Salt. Acts like a stainless Cruwear IMO...

I opine that this particular version of the PM2 is one of the functionally best folding knives ever created. Doesn't hurt that it's a real looker neither. If I had to sell most of my folding knives I'd just keep this, my ZTs and my Sebenza.

This is my thought on the compression lock, its too "fumbly" when youre using your knife in a quick manner. Same thing with the "strong lock" from the Hawkes. I was in a production setting so intried many different knives, having to quickly pull my knife, make a cut, close it, and re pocket it. The compression was too "fumbly." Its a great lock for any other reason, tho. The best ive found was a simple thumbstud and a swift axis lock.

I can say my crucarta had the sharpest factory edge ive seen in a while, someone makes a little piece you glue on to the lockbar making it the same height as the scales. I can't remember who sold it but I bet that would really improve the ease of use.

I've been asking the same question about SPY27. They came out with the Manix 2 LW, Para 3 LW and the Native 5 LW and that was it. Well, I saw a recent video of Metal Complex and apparently, Spyderco is releasing several new models using SPY27 including the Military 2. I have the basic black G10 with S30V blade which I am totally happy with so I don't think I'll be getting the new version though.
