    I am just swapping a non-power Z4 rack into my 1999 BMW Z3 Coupe.

    Just found this video and ordered the block, thank you. The shorter belt isnt needed for the e30s with the stock m20 engine since the power steering pump runs it own skinny accessory belt correct?

    I don't know anything about the e30 touring, but I'd say it's not an ideal comparison. The reason being is that generally cars that came from the factory without power steering had racks designed with that in mind. They have a more favorable mechanical advantage to assist in low speed driveability.

    Great video! Pretty insightful onto the mod and if its worth it. My last rack was dumping PS fluid out of it and I just removed that accessory belt and drove without expecting to get a z3 rack. Now the internal gears are worn from no lubrications, whoops. How would you recommend adding fluid to a rack before installing it into the car with the ps delete? Thank you :)

      Thanks for watching. If the rack is out of the car, simply pour fluid into one of the ports. You dont need much, as I think I explain in the video. if the rack is already in the car, then use a funnel and tube. Hope that helps

    What made you put that loud music over your voice? I am having trouble discerning what you are saying.

      Not sure. This video was made years ago before we really knew how to edit. Is what it is.

    How were the Euro cars with no PS systems “simplified”? Did they have a similar “block” from factory as the one Condor sells ?

    • @RaceGerman
      @RaceGerman  5 лет назад

      Nope. Sealed rack and pinion. Looks like the USA one but no inlets and outlets.

    Is the steering heavier in a car with the power steering delete than a car that came from factory without power steering?

    • @RaceGerman
      @RaceGerman  3 года назад +1

      No they will be identical. The steering is heavier than a car with power steering obviously, but only at low speeds. Once over 10mph, there is no issue.

    Is your electric fan mounted to your radiator support and not the radiator itself?

    • @RaceGerman
      @RaceGerman  5 лет назад

      Yes I’m using the spall mounts and mounted them to the radiator support. I do not advice mounting fans directly to the radiator as you can damage it.

      Race German would you be able to go a bit more in depth in a video on fan placement as well as puller or pusher variations and benefits I’m currently using a puller fan but I’m not sure I can mount my spal fan like how you did since I’m running z3m rad and I don’t have much space between engine and rad

    • @RaceGerman
      @RaceGerman  5 лет назад

      MarkyD GFX you can. I’m running a z3m radiator as well. I’m using a pusher. Pusher goes in front. Puller goes behind ( or on engine side. The only way you couldn’t mount it like mine is if you still have the ac condenser. Mine is removed because I don’t need it for track

    • @MarkyDGFX

      Race German I also have Condenser removed but mounting the spal brackets on the core support for me seems like I’m limited as far as placements of the brackets in some of the open factory holes

      @@MarkyDGFX google spall fan mounts, I believe Summit racing sells them for about $2.50. they allow you to cut to size and in any orientation. Should not be an issue. I used these mounts for my 24v swap e30 and my m20 e30 touring.

    Soo this doesn’t mess with engine timing cause of the shorter belt?

    • @RaceGerman
      @RaceGerman  3 года назад +1

      No, engine timing comes off of the timing chains. This is an accessory belt, has nothing to do with timing.
