Instead of feeling guilty about wasting money, which you cannot change, I find it more helpful to think I’m releasing it to someone who truly needs it. That way I’m maintaining its value not diminishing it, it’s just a different person receiving it now 😊
Decluttering feels so nice! Especially when you manage to get rid of stuff that you know you won't use, but are "saving it just in case". I used to have so much stuff like that!
Decluttering and cleaning. But also unplugging from the world and media. Dig deep into deep bonding with my kids, fiance, and reading to myself and as a family ! Its awesome
In the UK we have much smaller spaces (especially in London where I live)... but it looks like from your videos there is much more thought put in to built in storage and solutions within the general design of buildings and products. Lots of apartments here are houses being converted in to flats, so the layout is often really strange, and not much thought put in to how you would actually live in the space. Clutter drives me nuts, so I'm always decluttering!
I had three surgeries this summer. Whenever I am in recovery mode I wander around my house and dust, declutter and organize. It feels good and is a little bit of exercise.
You said: When you go out and shop.... the pandemic has taught me: you don’t need to shop! The stopping point - don’t shop. You probably already have what you need.
Did the same thing. Started with a no spend november challenge with myself....not only did my bank account recover, but I felt so much better and lighter. Aaaand, I really do have everything I need and then some. And clutter and having no space to put something makes me so anxious. I will continue my no spend challenge way into to 2021.
Thank you very much for this video! I was having exactly the same feeling today and it was really difficult to cope with it at first. But then I stumbled upon this video and as I started to get my space cleaner and made a little plan of things to go through, the anxiety was gone! ❤️
I gave my husband a couple of bottles of shampoo I didn't like and he uses them to wash the cars. Hair conditioner works well in the washing machine to soften things like blankets.
Just wanted to say thank you. I'm moving into my first apartment with my boyfriend next week and we're trying to keep it light and airy and clean. but my mum is a furniture hoarder who refuses to get rid of things. She keeps pressuring us to take all this random stuff that we "might" need or that it would be a "waste" to not take heaps of furniture that she's acquired over the years, so it's nice hearing from someone else who feels the same as I do. I've got so much stuff that it makes me anxious and claustrophobic and I'm really looking forward to having a fresh start and an opportunity to really reassess all of this stuff I've kept because other people told me I had to. Wishing you a happy belated Thanksgiving!
I knew I was smart when I decided to keep this on my watch list till I needed to de-stress. Today is the day and my gosh, I honestly feel so much better after watching you declutter your home 🙏
I’m so glad I found your channel. Not really in a productive mood for the longest time & my room was definitely a reflection of that. After binge watching your videos, finally got up and cleaned my room. Feels so much better! And I truly agree about how most of the times I have stuff piled up bcause I felt guilty not putting them to good use & how its a learning process. You don’t know how much that comforted me when I was cleaning. Love u!
Your videos are so relaxing as someone who cleans and declutters to calm my anxiety its so therapeutic to see someone else clean when it feels overwhelming to clean my own room. Ive been cleaning to destress since I was 10 years old and my mum used to be a huge hoarder ive slowly tried to teach her to get rid of things she doesn't need because she used to get so stressed coming home to a messy house the difference a small declutter can do to your mental health is amazing.
I’m glad you said that sometimes you get rid of something and regret it later. All the minimalist I watch say they don’t regret getting rid of anything. however there’s a couple things I got rid of and I thought it could’ve used it now
I found your channel a few days ago and now I can’t stop watching your videos, I love them. It feels so satisfying I’m inspired to do some decluttering right now
Watching your video with Annie put me on a clean binge as well! I bought organzing containers and threw out tons of junk in storage and basically cleared out a whole corner in my one room! Feels good 😁
It was very pleasing to watch the house getting decluttered and organized. I also do the same whenever I feel anxious and seeing everything arranged in a neat and tidy way really helps me calm down. I also believe that the things which we haven’t used for about a year or so are the things which we really don’t need & we should get rid of them to get more open space. We don’t need to go for shopping things every time. The pandemic taught us that we really need very less to live a happy life. You are one of the youtubers whom I can compare my life with and it feels very real and friendly unlike other youtubers who mainly focus on sponsored content and product. I love watching your videos ❤️🥰
This makes me so happy to hear! I hope to one day do sponsored content because girlfriend wants to save money to buy a house, but I will do my best to keep it natural and ME always. 💛 And so with you, cleaning and decluttering is therapeutic.
I’m totally on the same page: I also find solace in decluttering to feel better! Glad I’m not the only one. I was beginning to feel like a freak for constantly decluttering!
I learned that we have decluttering energy in the end of the year/new year, the spring, and the before school starts in the fall, unless you’re a school teacher, in which case it’s all concentrated into the summer. 🤣🥰
I'm so going to declutter my stuff once this semester in uni is over. As of now, I am working on my thesis plan and studying for finals, I barely have time to even do dishes XD
Oh man, I know how that goes. Sometimes the seasons of our lives just doesn’t allow for that, but it’s just a season. You kick ass in school first and then worry about the house later 🥰
Hi! Love your process! Inspires me to get up and declutter. By the way, I live in Japan and love the wet baths! No more plastic curtains sticking to our bodies. Our toilet is in its own room, and has grown on me.
Ahhh I need you in my home for helping with my organization. Is funny ...I help others organize and decore there home but when you are alone and need help because is a big task especially after hurricane disaster and still under construction. Is hard very hard, when I working and almost finish one area, explote plumbing or get fire on the electricity. But positive in the end finally moving on to Korea.
I’m so sorry to hear that. Well you’ve been going through a lot with disasters outside your control, just so what you can when you can. I would be overwhelmed too.
I don't know what was in the pump bottle but if it was shampoo, body wash or hand soap, you can use it up by using it as toilet bowl cleaner if it really bothers you to just throw it away.
Omg that kitty is the cutest and most vocal !! She really wants to be involved. Lol. When you get back to the US, are you planning on going into business? I would certainly hire you . I need help desperately.
Girlie....I am so loving your channel. I've been decluttering as I watch......thank you! No for the hilarious totally unscripted momment. "oh my god I locked my cat in the closet....". We have 2 cats and 2 dogs.....and they follow me eveywhere....so I totally understand!!!!!
I'm the opposite and I really wished I wasn't as decluttering makes me even more anxious! Too many decisions and what ifs etc. Even if I do sometimes feel good for a day after doing the declutter the anxiety and panic sets in once it's left the flat. I'm in my 40s and I've been like this since childhood. I do get motivated when watching these videos so I still watch them. I wish you were my neighbour though because I would have definitely asked you for the mugs. They're so cute. I seem to have a thing and can't resist collecting mugs, socks, pjs and books. Oh boy. Anyways really enjoyed the vlog and knowing that other people get told off by their cats too 😄 Have a great thanksgiving weekend. Sending you love and happy vibes from the UK 😻
@@SpaceMakerMethod Yes but only as she's got older. She's just turned 15 and is getting quite a diva now 😎 and she has different tones so I'm in no doubt when I'm being told off 😞

I've noticed immigrants in Korea do tend to have lots of issues with storage compared to other countries. Ig apartments here tend to get away with being wayy too small. But the views tend to be great imo
What really helped me stop buying is pulling everything out of one category and looking at them. How many face creams can one use? And how long till they go bad? I believe that I have enough makeup to last me a decade. Easily. And those clothes that I wore 10 years ago and they don’t fit me right now (no thanks to menopause), but that I was holding on to, because you know, I’m going to wear them again, maybe, when I get back into shape... or the kitchen gadgets... or canning jars (ffs, I don’t can anything!) Jesus, I really need to do a serious de clutter and letting go of things... one thing that I realized and acknowledge is that I have been having relationship problems with my daughter and I started buying stuff. I’m doing much better now. I’m actually going into stores many times now and end up walking out without buying anything. And when I’m tempted by something, I ask myself if I really need it. 99.9% of the time the answer is no.
I love this, thank you so much for sharing. And you are right.... it's amazing especially to think of all the makeup and skincare that can pile up that you wouldn't even be able to use in time!

I'm new here so I apologize if this has been said before... Any old cat toys/towers, towels, sheets or blankets can be donated to animal shelters (at least here in the U.S.) and is really appreciated ❤
Hey April, I really miss your old videos, they had such a unique vibe! I would love to see them re-uploaded, maybe on a different channel? Such a pity you took them down! Would love to hear from you, thank you ❤💯
Why bother with Christmas pajamas? That's like a Christmas tablecloth and napkins to use 1 meal a year! And Christmas dish towels and mugs for one short month a year!! Now after minimizing, I have 3 white short sleeve tee shirts to wear in bed with underpants in warm weather and 3 long sleeved white tee shirts to sleep in with underwear , (using a down duvet) in cold weather!
Don't shit on yourself (paraphrasing) by the design wise April Tandy 😎 Yes it is OK to get rid of the used/half used or unused that isn't working. There is no need for guilt. My parents never guilted us so I don't have that issue. But I know some ppl might. It is so freeing to chuck, sell or donate. And you are always so right about just delcuttering around yourself to feel so good. Let the emotional release happen ppl ;-) April living in the windy city I remember having to buy umbrellas b/c of the wind breaking them haha.. when we went camping for the first time as a couple I bought a fantastic rain jacket that solved that problem. Haha. You are too cute with you cat! Elevator life haha we had a freight elevator in our city apt... I don't miss elevators. LOL Oh and I had gray bath mats in bathroom and they needed to be chucked... had some neutral of white mats.... oh my goodness the bathroom seems like a world of difference and opened up! Just with damn bath mats! Again thanks! Thanks for all your tops and tricks. Hope you guys had a great one. This year was the first one we had in over 10 years where it was just the 2 or us. It was nice ;-)
So I‘m sitting here, watching you declutter your apartment, while I‘m taking a break from decluttering and reorganizing my storage room 😄 And sorry to say that, but I cracked up so hard when you realized you locked Izzy in the closet 😂
I was laughing so hard at you're cat in the closet, I did exactly the same with our cat while I was clearing out, he snuck in when I wasn't looking 😂😂 bloody cats are in amongst everything! Hahaha
omg I literally kept hearing the cat in this video and pausing it trying to see if my cat was ok lol. I couldn't find her but she was downstairs on the couch HAHAHA
I noticed every time I declutter- I toss out candles barely used candles that I spent a lot of money on. So I finally stopped buying them. I don’t even stop to smell them anymore in the stores. I don’t miss them! I always think I’m going to be the girl that vines candles A bit it’s not authentic to my personal self/style. 🤷🏻♀️
It's amazing how that can happen. I've learned that as well after moving so much. I always think theres something I just can't live without and then... I realize I'm just as happy with out it! How great that you could recognize that and make a shift!
You should help others do the same, and charge somehow for such a valuable job. Suggest you review the Fly Lady.net system. It has a simple way of not getting anxious at all the work. It can be adapted to whatever even a business.
Does anyone know why she is called the suitcase designer? I’ve watched a lot of her stuff lately, but I feel like I don’t know her at all or her story. She never really gives any video set up.
I have a big fluffy dog so I have to keep a few towels around for him. They are worn out and ugly but I don’t want him using our good towels so they stay. I feel your pain lol.
Be proud, so good, maybe write down what you need, food, clothes, good health, creativity, loving people...not having too much frees up time and money for those things.
That was quite the video, it almost seems like you are addicted to getting rid of stuff.. like a high. Maybe that’s why we as people over consume in the first place.. getting rid of it is such a high, we do it over and over.. 🤷♀️
I don’t think you know enough about me to say that I’m addicted. I actually try not to buy things and feel like I’ve wasted money when I’ve got things to get out of my house. It does feel good don’t get me wrong, but it’s not an addiction. This channel is meant to highlight the TSD principles, one of which is decluttering, so naturally that’s the content focus you’ll see repeated.
Instead of feeling guilty about wasting money, which you cannot change, I find it more helpful to think I’m releasing it to someone who truly needs it. That way I’m maintaining its value not diminishing it, it’s just a different person receiving it now 😊
Absolutely! Great way of framing it!
I do the same thing when I'm stressed and anxious; a clean and decluttered space is so soothing.
Feels so good!
I've been scrolling through decluttering videos all morning for inspiration - this was the most real, raw and honest one I've seen - thank you.

It’s so true: the lack of storage (and lack of space in general) is the elephant in the living room we don’t talk about here in the U.K. 😁

And sorry to say that, but I cracked up so hard when you realized you locked Izzy in the closet 😂
I was laughing so hard at you're cat in the closet, I did exactly the same with our cat while I was clearing out, he snuck in when I wasn't looking 😂😂 bloody cats are in amongst everything! Hahaha
Bahahaha kitties!
I can definitely understand u on the stress level. I am the same 🤣 we can do it!
Yessss it’s all connected!! We got this!
I'm planning on getting a kitty in Korea. Are there adoption centers in Korea where I can adopt one?
Check out the Facebook page: animal rescue network in Korea!
Wheres the rug from
I kept hearing the cat meowing and I was like wow shes so vocal and then you realized you locked her in the closet 😂
You are doing great
Thank yoU! 💛
I too am suffering from a cluttered mind/space .😖
I feel ya 😔
Where is Annie Nova s final makeover video? You promised to upload it soon and you give us cleaning video😏
Haha! It’s coming, still working on it!
What made you want to live and stay in Korea? Was it a job opportunities...... 🤔🤔🤔
Well right now it’s been the pandemic. 😳 we were suppose to move but Korea has been doing a better job than most places so we’ve stayed
omg I literally kept hearing the cat in this video and pausing it trying to see if my cat was ok lol. I couldn't find her but she was downstairs on the couch HAHAHA
bahaha
Kitty needs a bro or sis😍
haha we definitely want another one after we move somewhere permanently.
Ahaha your little bathroom
Is the. Size of my only bathroom. If you saw my house you would pass out!!
🤣
You should help others do the same, and charge somehow for such a valuable job. Suggest you review the Fly Lady.net system. It has a simple way of not getting anxious at all the work. It can be adapted to whatever even a business.
Sell your stuff on Poshmark. Extra income! And so simple to use the app. That's what I've done and it feels so good.
Thanks for the tip!
Does anyone know why she is called the suitcase designer? I’ve watched a lot of her stuff lately, but I feel like I don’t know her at all or her story. She never really gives any video set up.
Lol. Your cat was in the closet?
OMG 😳 she walked in the kitchen pantry closet and I hadn’t realized (the door was literally open for 10 sec and she snuck in). 🤪
The cat was clearly cluttering up the place and needed to be contained! 😂😂😂😂😂
Bahaha
I have a big fluffy dog so I have to keep a few towels around for him. They are worn out and ugly but I don’t want him using our good towels so they stay. I feel your pain lol.
Yes!!!!!
I wish l could declutter everyday hahaha
haha same
Christmas is one day a year.. one is enough. Christmas pajamas..
Be proud, so good, maybe write down what you need, food, clothes, good health, creativity, loving people...not having too much frees up time and money for those things.
Absolutely!
🖐🏼🙂
🙋🏻♀️
Cat in the closet 😹
🤣
I don’t think this is a Korean style bathroom. I’m from Europe and this is a classic central European bathroom.
It is Korean style, but I'm sure more countries can all have something similar
Kitty catty is talkative...
It was an observation, I absolutely can be wrong. Also I was musing in general..
I sensed a deep sadness in you this video. I pray God brings you endless joy, in Jesus name. ❤
Please ! Help yourself : stop this dracula ...which takes your energy ! Open your eyes
Bahaha 🤣
