  • After some deep water fun out at rattlesnake gulch, my WK started having "service 4wd system" messages show up. My suspicion was that the electrical confection for the acutator for NP245 t-case got wet during my river-fording fun...
The Jeep is a 2007 Grand Cherokee WK limited. It has a 2" lift, provided by bilstein 5100 struts on the front, and spacers on the rear. It has the quadra-drive II full-time 4wd system, and 31" (245/75/17) Falken Wildpeak AT3/W tires.
Details regarding the service 4wd system reset procedure I referenced in this video: www.jeepforum....

About to buy one from a coworker, also has transmission sensor issues, multiple cylinder misfire, and many cosmetic problems, but it’ll be a good little off road toy for me

Just curious, what kind of deal did you get on yours?

@@mitchellmarquardt4244 he’s taking 500, it should really be going to the crusher based on the condition so that’s why it’s so cheap

Thanks I'm guessing my 2006 has same issue. Service 4WD System comes on in wet slushy snow. Stays on till it dries out.

I cannot get the connector loose on my 06 commander. Tried the screwdriver and hammer but worried about shattering the plastic.

So there is a clip on the plug that hold it on as well. On mine, the clip was broken (or I broke it trying to get it off). I have seen other videos where people use a small screwdriver to release the clip. It's hard to see up in there for sure, but if you can get a look at it, make sure that clip is released. It's designed to be something you can squeeze while you pull the clip off, but with the amount of dirt and debris it doesn't always release easily. Like I said, in mine I think I may have broken the clip while trying to to get it off, and then I was able to work the plug off after that

Would it be worth applying some electrical grease after cleaning it up it may assist in keeping moisture out and avoid further corrosion

Yes absolutely! I thought I mentioned that I did that in the video, but maybe not. I did pack it full of dielectric grease, def a good idea to keep moisture out!

Do you think A faulty car battery can cause this to?

Hmm, not sure. There is a lot of "computer stuff" on the wk grand Cherokees, and if it gets low or incorrect voltage I guess it might be possible? From my understanding, the "service 4wd system" error is often caused by an improper voltage signal from the 4wd actuator. In my case, I think it happened when I drove through a little too deep of a river, and water got into the connector. However, there is also the "N23 recall", that is/was related to bad traces in the circuit board. Here's a link to the Jeep forum post where I found out more about the whole thing: www.jeepforum.com/threads/the-n23-recall-service-4wd-system-error-explained.3100337/
