With 19 Crimes you can hold your phone camera over the picture on the bottle and (the picture talks) it tells you the story of who the person is and what crime they committed. So even the wine was on theme for the video
Christie crime and wine is one of my favourite series of yours! I'm only gonna watch the spoilerless part now, read the book this weekend and then watch the video again. 💕
It was so much fun to join this solve along, and hear everyone's theories along the way, I can't wait for Halloween Party where I can join the sleuthing. (And I take no responsibility for the jacket ripping😅)
It's so nuce to see you getting sponsors! You're literally my biggest comfort youtuber (especially the haunted places series), and I'm so happy that your channel is growing, you deserve so so much
This was the first time I got to participate and read along, which was really fun. When I read the second chapter from Cust and he mentioned ticking off a name on a list, I was thinking that it had to be some other list, that he couldn't be the killer. Then I checked the post again to see where to stop reading and it mentioned the killer being named right away and I was like OH YEAH, I didn't even consider him lol. It definitely changes the way you think about the story and the who/why dunnit.
This was so much fun! I'd already read the book so I just used the videos as reading sprints but it was so great seeing you guys try to solve it! such cosy vibes
I love these videos so much! I've seen the DS version of the ABC murders and read the book 20 years ago so I didn't remember a single thing 🤣 I hope you'll read Crooked House (one of her best and a standalone!) or After the funeral! Both also have great adaptations. Not going to lie, the only reason why I remember the murderer in After the funeral is because Michael Fassbender is VERY broody in the David Suchet version and I might have rewatched that episode more than once 😛
Oooh, The ABC Murders is what got me into reading/watching Poirot (and murder mysteries!) in the first place and is still in the top 3 of my favorite Poirot mysteries 😄😄
Glad to see more episodes of this series! Even though I haven't read any christie yet I am reading the complete canon of Sherlock Holmes. An all in one book of 4 novels and 56 short stories. I'm still making my way through a study in scarlet. I'm shocked that I havent read any Sherlock Holmes stories sooner. 😊❤📚
I love this video, it has nothing to do with my art in it, thats like, made my year. I like it because… gavin looks dashing in his detective gear. And don’t worry gav, you will get her next time!
Just popping in before I watch to say thank you for the Skillshare link! I'm training up to get out of a job that just isn't right for me anymore, so it's come at the perfect time ❤
You got so close (closer than I did)! You had motive, you realized that the 3rd death was the most important (I think there is something to be said for your theory that the train schedule/map was connected to the importance of the crime), you got the importance of the secretary! You forgot the one defining rule that each of Agatha Christie's sleuths follow: always assume someone is lying to you until you have irrefutable proof otherwise! I always forget this too and end up believing the murderer... I am absolute sh*t at solving whodunnits. Also I think you should give Miss Marple another chance- just remember that her mysteries are solved 99% on meeting the people involved and their characters, not physical evidence. She has met every type of person so she can relate new people back to the person in her past and predict their choices/motives/innocence or guilt. The Caribbean Mystery is a good one if you like a little more action for her stories. But I think to really understand her detective style, you have to read the first Miss Marple short stories. A group of characters describe a mystery that only they know the answer to, and every single time Miss Marple gets it because she knows people and how they act and react. FYI, Alias is pronounced A-(like gay)-lee-us with the emphasis on the first syllable. The Halloween Party will be extra fun to watch!!!
Found your channel through OP, I've never read Agatha Christie but my Mom has all of them I think? Going to borrow them and then watch the playlist. You're a delightful personality that has encouraged me to go read.
I played the game version of this on PlayStation last year XD It's really cute! I've never read the full Poirot series, so have just started from the beginning (The Mysterious Affair At Styles) and will work my way through the lot, and then I can see the character growth through those years 🙂
Hi! This was brilliant and your theory sounded way cooler tbh. I know you don’t like Miss Marple but please give my gal another chance. Try Nemesis or The Mirror Cracked From Side to Side ❤❤
I can see why you thought that Crome did it, after all, one of your last ones had a detective as the killer. And another one of Agatha Christie’s most beloved works had the same twist but I cannot spoil it for reasons I will not explain as they are also spoilers!
Omg I can’t believe you ripped your jacket😂💔 This is such a difficult one to solve, I watched the adaptation before reading the book and I still couldn’t remember who did it🤦♀️ Think I’m finally going to join your Patreon next month and I’m so excited to solve the next murders with everyone!
Interesting how, when you prioritize evidence, you decide Lady Clarke's illness is likely not important, but it actually turns out to be quite important. Dame Agatha does makes fools of us all.
Oh no, not the Hallowe’en Party! That one’s is… not the best. Not as bad as The Clocks (the worst Poirot case imo), but definitely near the bottom of the list. Also there are some good miss Marple stories (especially the short stories).
Aaah this was so much fun!! Great video Gav ✨ we had similar theories this time, I’m yet to fully solve one of these mysteries but I’m determined! Ripping the outfit was so funny 🤣🤣
@Gav, I think everyone's theories...would have made for a better story/outcome. It would have been cool if it was a mastermind, and the placement being a clue. As well as the people related to the victims, how they could have been selected by virtue of those relationships. Definitely one of my top AC mysteries!!! HP >M.Marple. These Solve-alongs are so fun!!!!!! Cant wait to do more!
41:12 "We've a long way to go still. Tipperary? No--that comes farther on." In case you didn't catch the reference, there was a popular song in the early twentieth century called "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" Even a century later, you might still recognize the tune if you heard it.
I have never heard anyone but you call Miss Marple a lazy cow! How dare you! She is shrewd and can solve cases just by figuring out who the suspects remind her of from her savage home town of St. Mary Mead.
Tbh I got it when the murderer mentioned the St. Leger's race being run at Doncaster. I thought only the true ABC murderer would be clever enough to bring that up :DDD
I hope you'll consider adding Taken at the Flood to the cue (just because I don't know how you'd solve it, and it has one of the most baffling endings of Dame Agatha's books), as well as Death in the Clouds (I think the murderer you could guess, the method of murder would take quite the analysis, I think). Great costume (rip what rip), great video, sorry that Agatha got a point, well earned tho lol
I think if you hadn't been misled by others before you started reading, you would have cracked the case. My heart sank when I realized you weren't going to be taking your usual thorough notes and keeping open to different possibilities. I still found it entertaining, though!
I have read pretty much every Agatha Christie (the ones I havent read were spoiled for me). I will never know if wine would have assisted me in my deductions. Unless I try it with a different mystery writer 🤔😂
Skfkskfksk I was so confused why you were talking about an Elias, and then I realized you meant alias >< its pronounced A(as in ape)-lee-us (emphasis on the A)
Yeah, I don't know why they told you the killer was revealed at the beginning of the book. That's just a lie. You could obviously think that from the information you're getting in the book (it does seem like an early example of a serial killer book where you get the killer's POV in some chapters). But no one should tell you that the killer is revealed near the beginning or that he is not. One is misleading and the other is a spoiler. It was really not fair.
I wonder if someone had red the book long ago and misremembered that Cust was involved. But why didn’t the other people who had red correct? Maybe they didn’t realize.
Well technically he got the whole idea when he saw how fond his brother had become of Thora Grey and how much he talked about her. I think we're supposed to get the idea that she is a bit of a gold digger or at least an opportunist. Either way, don't forget how he was always the one who was trying to act like Lady Clarke was being paranoid and unreasonable in her dislike and suspicion for Thora, and showed Poirot a letter from his brother telling him about how delightful a young woman Thora was and tried to pass it off as 'you see, he saw her only as like a daughter'. He figured that so long as no one would suspect that Thora might have considered marrying Sir Clarke after his wife died then it'd be a good cover, he'd have no reason to worry about his own inheritance. But he overdid it and I think that make Poirot suspicious.
28:51 - 29:34 *so let me get this straight Gavin, you think that you can’t solve a murder mystery…because you don’t have your favorite alcoholic beverage?*
I was so confused when you said, people told you that the killer gets revealed at the start. Spoilers are a huge risk with videos like these but I didn't expect multiple people giving out wrong information. I wonder if they remembered wrong or were just trolling. Shame though.
[Spoilers] I read the book before watching! I guessed the alphabetical thing was a ruse to hide one of the murders, and I thought it was Thora! That lady seemed so sketchy! 😂 Lots of misdirection in the story... a great read and an entertaining video!
[Spoilers] It's sad to see Gavin was misled. I think the video would've been much more interesting if he had an inkling of what to look for from the start.
Would you believe that I'm a crossover One Piece/Christie fan? I've read the ABC murders a couple times (lol I forgot how it went after the first time!) and watched the David Suchet version, they're all good. p.s. love you gavin
and now, at the end... please read a Marple next. I think the characters are somehow better, perhaps especially because Ms. Marple is basically a non-character herself and they're just vehicles for the other characters. Poirot always had to inject himself into the story - naughty man!
I think this one shouldn't count...it was a tricky one to try to guess because of the HUGE red herring at the beginning. Seriously...I read a lot of Hercule's books and this should not count. :)
I love your videos so much😂You are just an amazing guy, and I freaking love ya 🤣 If my channel ever got to even a quarter of yours, I'd be so freaking happy! xoxo

Hear me out: the first ABC book was AROUND the victim, the second was BELOW, and the third COVERED.
Your Postman was lucky because if I was in their place, I’d say: “Slagatha Christie is back, I see?”
With 19 Crimes you can hold your phone camera over the picture on the bottle and (the picture talks) it tells you the story of who the person is and what crime they committed. So even the wine was on theme for the video

Your crime solving outfit is so freaking cute! Imagine a cute graphic novel with Gav being a private detective omg
It's so nuce to see you getting sponsors! You're literally my biggest comfort youtuber (especially the haunted places series), and I'm so happy that your channel is growing, you deserve so so much

Miss Marple is more active in A Caribbean Mystery. A great excuse for a trip to the Caribbean too!
Definitely in my top-3 Marples! And imo a very satisfying solution.
One of Christie's most brilliant works. Somewhat anticipates the serial killer subgenre but gives so much more.
Aww, I wanted you to do “The Murder at the Vicarage” or “The Mysterious Affair at Styles”
I love these videos so much! I've seen the DS version of the ABC murders and read the book 20 years ago so I didn't remember a single thing 🤣

that would be a great series for gav to do as well if he hasnt already
@@underatbr2212 well I don't see a playlist on his channel for it, so maybe down the road? Who knows? 🙂❤📚
@@Kite562reviews god i hope that happens then i can read with him as well as a youtube watcher
I love this video, it has nothing to do with my art in it, thats like, made my year.
I like it because… gavin looks dashing in his detective gear.
And don’t worry gav, you will get her next time!
This is my first video of yours & for some reason, you calling Miss Marple a lazy cow was just so out of pocket for me, I cackled. 😂😂😂
I actually need a second video (for every slagatha video) where Gavin reacts to his theories after he has finished the book😁
Just popping in before I watch to say thank you for the Skillshare link! I'm training up to get out of a job that just isn't right for me anymore, so it's come at the perfect time ❤

I couldn't make it to the live shows, but am excited for the vlog!
Solving mysteries from home using your fine mind? It’s giving Miss Marplecore. #LazyCow
Love this video and I had so much fun trying to solve this mystery with you and the Slagatha sleuths 😁 I'm already excited for the next one.❤️🕵🏻♀️
I'd love to see you solve After the Funeral, it's a personal favourite :)
Honestly you got a lot closer in your assumptions than me haha I was pretty impressed
I enjoyed how you came so close to beng right and then wandered away from the solution
Please do After the funeral next!! Id love to see what you make of it ❤️
This was sooo much fun, really great book and great to participate in 😁

Listen, from what you’ve told us about your neighbourhood, I’m sure that’s far from the maddest thing that’s opened the door when the postman knocked.
I can see why you thought that Crome did it, after all, one of your last ones had a detective as the killer. And another one of Agatha Christie’s most beloved works had the same twist but I cannot spoil it for reasons I will not explain as they are also spoilers!

Yes!!!!!!!! I'm going to watch this tonite. I love when you do Agatha!
Im a Christie fan, but Halloween party is just not a good book.
Edit: A better spooky AC book would be Pale Horse
This was so good! Always enjoy these videos. I understand what you mean about that being misleading though
@Gav, I think everyone's theories...would have made for a better story/outcome. It would have been cool if it was a mastermind, and the placement being a clue. 58:37 I think it was, I remember him talking about it mentioning something like 'yes I know but it is a favourite of mine'.
Obsessed with these really long videos. Gone With the Wind, where? Cleopatra, who? I don't know them
Had to sing back to you when you did the Buffy musical callback 😊
I’m glad u are doing this one bc it is one of the most popular one so I know it. Very curious if u will get it
8.20 That's hillarious! LOL 😂😂
No, but I always recommend for Agatha Christie newbies to start with this book
Tbh I got it when the murderer mentioned the St. Leger's race being run at Doncaster. I thought only the true ABC murderer would be clever enough to bring that up :DDD

long live Slagatha's Legion of Amateur Gdetectives
I love these videos! Can't wait for the next one!
In which Gav’s audience is the unreliable narrator.
"SLAGUSSY"!! GAVIN!!
Yey I usually have to wait to read the book to watch but I’ve already read this one 😂
I absolutely enjoyed the abc murders definitely one of my favorite Agatha Christie books

to be fair, I suspected inspector crome as well, I just couldn't find a motive cause he wasn't solving anything either :D
You mean Brits don't always dress like that? I am shocked and confused. LOL You always seem to make me smile.
I have read pretty much every Agatha Christie (the ones I havent read were spoiled for me). I will never know if wine would have assisted me in my deductions. Unless I try it with a different mystery writer 🤔😂

Ahhh Halloween Party is one of her worst books!
This was so fun but I was not even close 😂

So good. 👻

Please add english suubs.
