Medusa is a steel roller coaster located at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California.
Built by Bolliger & Mabillard, Medusa opened in 2000 as the first floorless roller coaster on the west coast. Medusa features a 150-foot-tall lift hill with a 150-foot drop and the first Sea serpent roll element ever built on a B&M coaster. The ride is 3937 feet long and features the following seven inversions.
Discovery Kingdom's version of Medusa is often referred to as "Medusa West" by coaster enthusiasts because there are three rides with the same name, all with different layouts. "Medusa East", later renamed "Bizarro", is located at Six Flags Great Adventure and features a significantly different layout that includes a Cobra Roll and Interlocking Corkscrews. "Medusa South," a wooden coaster built by CCI, is located at Six Flags Mexico.
The ride starts with a large left-hand turnaround out of the station and onto the lift hill. At the top is a B&M pre-drop followed by a right turn. After that is the large 150' drop which achieves the same height as the lift hill despite the B&M Pre-Drop by dipping below ground level into a pit. The drop is followed by a 128' vertical loop. Medusa then features a dive loop to the left and a zero-G roll. The ride then enters a Sea Serpent roll. After a very quick breather during the mid-course brakes, the train whips into a twisting left-hand drop into a flatspin under the brake run. The on-ride photo is taken directly after the first flatspin. The ride then travels through an inclined helix to the left before diving into the second Flatspin. The ride's finale is a quick 85 degree banked helix to the right before a quick S-Turn, which creates the sensation that the train will run into one of the lift supports. Then, the ride will either glide into the brake run and travel back toward the station, or may come to a sudden stop if it is operating with three trains and another train is already in the station.

Exactly. I really enjoyed Medusa and luckily i didn't eat before i got on the ride but i was coughing like i was gonna throw up lol
this ride is amazing but what got me was the part at 1:06 bc i thought that the ride came to the end so i stopped holding on for dear life and as soon as i let go of the handlebars, the ride twisted very fast and i was pretty traumatized

I LOVE the colours on of the track.
This is an insanely good ride (from all that I've experienced), and it's incredibly smooth. I went on it 8 times in a row at my friend's birthday party; it never got old.
Right when you're at the top looking at all of Vallejo, I'm like damn shit just got real! O_O

i recently just went to six flags and i have to say, the Medusa was probably my favorite roller coaster ride! (some were actually shut down for the day, didnt get to ride every single one) its relatively smooth compared to others and i think the duration of the ride is good!
This feels so much better than what it would've been like... I had fun on the Cobra and Monsoon Falls, but THIS ONE, ._.

I just did Medusa today!! It was scary at first when you are going up but when u drop down it’s the best part. The big loops are the best part and it’s not fast compare to the joker. Overall this is a great ride. It boots your energy and now it will be easy and you can be prepared for more rides like Superman (if you haven’t already). GREAT RIDE
this is the ride that got rid of the fear of fast rides/coasters I had since I was 3 years old, I loved it so much the first time I had to ride it again! Now I'm not afraid of any rides!
Just did this yesterday, It’s an amazing coaster! One of the smoothest! Would definitely recommended riding
As someone who has ridden this ride at least 50 times in the last 12 years, it is one of the smoothest coasters out there and so fun. People overthink coasters way too much. Get on. Then when it’s over decide if you think it’ll be scary or not. It’s too late by then and you’ll stop wasting time being afraid and realize it’s a blast lol

This ride is fun. I love B & M, plus the freeway view is cool. Also the restraint is very comfortable. :)
Six Flags sure isn't big on landscaping...
Visit Six Flags over Georgia then...much better as far as landscaping goes.
I just watched this and was like they literally just put this in the parking lot.
There isn't much space at this six flags because it is also a zoo, and land in California is expensive. So the coasters are up front but it's kind of cool because you get tp walk underneath all the coasters when you are walking from the parking lot. The actual parking lot is on a hill about a block away
We went to six flag California and you need to park all the way there and ride or rent a bus to get back in the park and there's a lot of rides in six flags and what you see in the side it's because it's from workers there at six flag

I used to ride this after school most of the times..now i live 3000 miles away from it.
After my nephews brother killed himself, I took Charlie to Magic mountain to get his mind off things for a little while. He was about an inch too short, but the man left him on anyway. He had the greatest time of his life on this roller coaster, with his hands flying in the air. He went back to school, bragging to his friends so he rode it.
I rode with him, and it was not that bad.

Today was the first time I rode it ITS SO FUN! honestly I hate most roller coasters but this on is so fun and the drop seems tall but it’s really not I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND

This was my absolute first coaster I ever rode. And it was my last one too. Never got on a coaster again after this. Too intense for first timers.

I just realized that this ride has almost the exact same layout as kraken at SeaWorld Orlando.
@TrackMania753 I've been on it. It is very smooth. Of course, it should be cuz it's a B&M coaster. B&M specializes in smoothness. You can always recognize B&M coasters because of their 4 across train seating and how sharp and nice they look. Top Gun (now lamely called Flight Deck) at Great America in Santa Clara is also a B&M.

@Hurricoaster No, Kraken has a cobra roll element. This has a a rollover and two corkscrews. Kraken only has one.

Hi Everyone I'm going to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom with my family and they want me to go on medusa, superman,v2, all the rides i haven't been on, and Im wondering if I should go on those rides because without my shoes im 53 1/2 inches but with the shoes im 54 inches. by the way im a kid so im nervous if its still safe to go on it if your just a little bit under "54"
