Well, majima never fought against kiryu with the intention of killing him he just likes to test him. Personally I think that majima is stronger than kiryu or at least he was at the timeline of yakuza 0. He literally fought alone against the entire dojima clan plus awano plus lao gui and still was about to take on sohei.
After playing 0 and seeing majima as a kind, stable and carefree guy, seeing majima like this in kiwami breaks my heart...he's completely lost it. One minute he's extremely scary and acting like he'll murder an innocent woman to "Oh ok, nevermind, its cool". The way he switches like that in an instant is scary, and makes me think that to some extent he's not pretending to be crazy, and might actually be legit insane
Actually, Majima is like this because of that old guy who used to check up on him in Yakuza 0. At first, Majima thought he was an asshole, but then he learned that he was ultimately a well intentioned guy who did things his own way regardless of how crazy he may seem. The pen-ultimate boss of Majima's scenario in Yakuza 0 also had a similar MO, so Majima ended up adopting their MO by the end of Y0. You have to realize that Majima *HATED* his situation in Yakuza 0. He was nicer, but he wasn't happy. As for his Kiryu fixation, that's also explained in Y0. Throughout the game, he would constantly hear about Kiryu's exploits. As the game progresses, Majima does become more interested in who Kiryu is as he's constantly taking on Dojima family leaders. By the end of the game, Majima had learned of everything Kiryu has done and was able to recognize him at a glance.
I feeling like Majima and Nishiki is a foil to each other. Majima look like an unpredictable psycho. But he loyal and reliable if he want to. He just sometime don't give a shit and goes with the flow. Basically, Majima is like a heel wresler on the ring but decent guy outside the ring. On the other hand Nishiki is the nice guy and bro but he lost it after thing he goes through. If some one asked me who is really goes insane, I will say Nishiki is the one who snapped.

I admit, its kinda fun with the Majima Everywhere system. I mean, he did it for the right reason (and also for his own amusement or obsession with Kiryu) If it wasn't for him, Kiryu would probably never would have regained the dragon within him.
While I enjoy Majima Everywhere System as mutch as the next guy I feel like it ruins the weight of battles such as this. Player fought him 10+ times by that point, why should they care?
Majima looks depressed as fuck when he found out that he was holding someone else's girlfriend a hostage. He didn't turn to look at her, just standing there thinking about his life choice. Also, this scene was made before sane Majima in Yakuza 0 and Makoto even existed. They definitely wanted Majima to be this kind of guy.

I pretty much had only one problem with the game and that was when the majima everywhere system interfered with the original games story. In the original version majima was supposed to “die” at the batting cages after getting stabbed and we only saw him again for the first time in this chapter. In kiwami majima can show up almost immediately after the batting cages sometimes and they try to play it off by having you fight dojima guys at the docks and have majima “die” there. It just feels half baked when kiryu sees majima again at Shangri la immediately after he is supposedly killed.
If you finish majima everywhere and dragon of dojima style , you get to have a little side thing with majima where you and him fight some dojima yakuza. After thr battle ends, majima gets shot and falls in the river. I think that was supposed to be the replacement, but since its just a side thing thats OPTIONAL, it kinda doesnt make sense then if you ignore it. Still, I got that wtf moment when majima appeared again

I feel like Majima’s relationship with Kiryu got muddled because of the remake, as we actually spend a lot of time with Majima as Kiryu, yet the cutscenes do not acknowledge it, because it’s just the cutscenes from the original Yakuza 1 just with a new engine.

That QTE is random, and is basically like Majima using a heat action on you. As for the Kiwami action, I don't think Majima gets Dragon Kiwami actions until you unlock them on the skill tree.
This fight loses its weight because of the fact that you fought him so much in the game. The Majima gimmick is cool for fanservice but ruins a lot of thing imo. The whole game is way lighter compared to the original. You can see it in this fight,the OST doesn't have a "dark vibe" to it,even the fight in the dark is lighter,in the original Majima was using the darkness to take the player by surprise.
The French Charismatic Guide he does the same here. He can do two Heat actions on you here. However I agree with that whole statement about abusing Majima
