HOW THE FUCK DOES HE MAKE THE BOW SOLO SOUND SO CLEAN?!? ive tried this at home and i cant make it sound as clear as this. JIMMY IS UNDOUBTEDLY GOD OF GUITAR
That Bonahm and Jones riff together starting at 8:25 is bad ass. Bonham's crossovers staring at 8:46 is one of the many reasons why he's the best in the biz, and still remains to this day decades after his death.
OMG!! How I love this... has to be one of my all time faves... so far ahead from Jimmy's Yardbirds days. Just as exciting to here now as it was back then
It was 15 years old when I saw TSRS and this subject for the first time especially, flew the brains to me, 30 years ago of that, nothing would sound equal. Nothing will sound equal. The band of sound of all my life, and the one that remains.
could u imagine being a teen back in those days...listening to the beatles and that doo op stuff from the 60's.. then u hear about some new band called led zeppelin, and u go see them...and u sit there in the audience not knowing what to think and all of a sudden this song comes on and u see jimmy tearin up his guitar with a bow, plant is moanin like he's gettin a piper and bonham is just beatin the bass into your heart....must have been a real culture shock. lucky m/f's to be there.
thanx for the post. Zeppelin was just awesome. One thing that makes them so great is that Plant wasn't a posing front man but supported the guitar in improve riffs
I'm supposed to clean my room, but this was in my recommended videos shouldn't have clicked it 'cause now my room will never get clean! Bet mum and dad ain't gonna be happy because of this!
Probably my favorite live video as far as being able to see all 4 of them doing what they do best..so far ahead of their time IMO. My all time favorite band, and if I live to be 100 I'm confident that will still be the case
I was at this concert. what can you say about it that hasnt been said. I never thought I would see it again. Im glad someone had the sense to record it. you kind of just accept it as a really good concert then move on, but this was special even at the time.
How the hell does Jonesy keep with that bass line like that. I can hardly play with the studio version. I'm pretty sure this version would give the average bass player arthritis.
Absolutely amaizing the best song and version of this song simply awesome its just like a trip with my M.J oooo Yeah!!!! everything is colorfull............
jimmy is so cool playing guitar with a bow! A BOW for f*** sakes!!! Who does that?! it sounds amazing and he looks amazing.... like the rest of Led Zeppelin! The best vocalist, drummer, bass and guitarist the world has ever seen or heard!!! EVER!!
guitaristguy117: its just amazing. he throws the stage/band technician the violin bow, scratches his face, the catches the pick with just 2 fingers (his index and thumb).
It actually wasn't an individual song, it was my dad's "Early Days" CD. I hated the CD when I first listened to it, but over time I kept coming back to it and it grew on me, until I eventually couldn't get enough of it. That was the point where I became OBSESSED with Led Zeppelin. I would wear a long black whig that my mom had to make myself look like Jimmy Page, lol. I still like them, but I'm not THAT crazy about them anymore. I still only dream of being as good on the guitar as Jimmy, lol.
listen to that freakin drum beat? page's guitar is just unreal. i never seen a more powerfull performance then this led zeppelin song. man they really ruled back in 1970. no one even comes close.
Jimmy Page is a GOD. Or quite possible God himself. Every video I've ever seen of him playing just blows my little mind, not to mention turns me on immensely. I just can not get over it. Not to mention the way Plant and him seem to be so in synch all the time! The entire band is just amazing. It's a shame my generation doesn't appreciate this. No one does it like Led Zeppelin.
When I first bought this DVD I kept hearing 0:27-0:47 in my head, even in my dreams. It's so haunting. I bet he had a lot of fun with that bow during his time.
damnit i love how jones keeps the bass line 4:02 - 6:11 every member of this band contributes everything they have...this has to be my favorite live performance from zeppelin.
i had this on a VCR tape years ago from a show that was done called "SUPERSHOW" with about 15 other groups on it...really good show and alot of famous bands on it.
Well that is something we will never know. I have also taken my share of acid during the 70's, and 80s, and speaking as a musician, and songwriter, my best works were written after becoming straight. Guess i was there, just started a little later than you. Anyways, that being said, i think we can all agree that we all still enjoy listening to Led Zep. I know i enjoy playing their music.
Undeniably , Greatness is more than technical skills .. It's Impact on music , radio , ... being in arguably the Greatest Rock Band in History , it's originality or creativity in addition to obvious record sales , concert sales and over all longevity which makes '......Jimmy Page , the Greatest Rock Guitarist of All Time , in my not so humble opinion .
Guitar solo? Everybody was soloing here! Hammer Of The Gods.
HOW THE FUCK DOES HE MAKE THE BOW SOLO SOUND SO CLEAN?!? ive tried this at home and i cant make it sound as clear as this. JIMMY IS UNDOUBTEDLY GOD OF GUITAR
No shit!! Some things are best left alone, just appreciate what has been laid down for us to enjoy

Saw these boys live from 68' through 78'. Don't need to say much more than this. I was there.....!
That Bonahm and Jones riff together starting at 8:25 is bad ass. Bonham's crossovers staring at 8:46 is one of the many reasons why he's the best in the biz, and still remains to this day decades after his death.
To anybody who doesn't understand why Jimmy Page plays his guitar with a bow, smoke some weed and listen again.
zoso rules . this gives me chill every time. he is even great dancer. 4:17 moonwalk was invented
OMG!! How I love this... has to be one of my all time faves... so far ahead from Jimmy's Yardbirds days. Just as exciting to here now as it was back then
im so sick of not being alive for led zeppelin. the greatest rock band of all time.
i always loved how no matter how large the stage is, they always stay really close together
It was 15 years old when I saw TSRS and this subject for the first time especially, flew the brains to me, 30 years ago of that, nothing would sound equal. Nothing will sound equal.
The band of sound of all my life, and the one that remains.
the total silence in the crowd is amazing, they cast a spell, so powerful
Royal Albert Hall is my favorite live version of Led Zeppelin!!!!
If one group of people deserve eternal youth it's Led Zeppelin
jimi hendrix ...who's that....omg!!! I'm just blown away, Page is the master the absolute best!!!!
It's amazing how you just get inspired to play your guitar after watching any live song by Led Zeppelin
Long live Led Zep!
Truly amazing musicians. What an amazing era in time. The music, the clothes, the people etc. Best of all times.

jpj's bass playing is unbelieveable!!
Led Zeppelin to me represent music that is infinite and alive. Music without limits.

Bet mum and dad ain't gonna be happy because of this!
saw Zeppelin twice....Orlando, 1971...and Tampa, 1973....OH
i love how he's able to hold the audiences FULL attention with just a chord. just one chord and they're silent. he is truly amazing.
I can't imagine them doing this in rehearsal. It just seems so improvised. Pure power flowing through that guitar-violin thingy.
Video that shows why Led Zeppelin will always be The Gods of Rock.
jimmy can play with a violin bow, catch a pick, play a mind blowingly amazing solo, and dance, all while wearing a sweatervest. hes a freaking genius.
OMFG!! Violin Bow + guitar + Jimmypage = AWESOMENESS
amazing. this vid deserves 1 million+ views
Probably my favorite live video as far as being able to see all 4 of them doing what they do best..so far ahead of their time IMO. My all time favorite band, and if I live to be 100 I'm confident that will still be the case

Bloody amazing guitar playing!
Sounds so mystical.
How the hell does Jonesy keep with that bass line like that. I can hardly play with the studio version. I'm pretty sure this version would give the average bass player arthritis.
is it just me or is 6:53 goosebump worthy and intense... that whole part with jimmy and robert doing their thing... damn! amazing!
I love Zep! One of the greatest bands of all time.
Less than 30 seconds in, I'm already impressed :)
Like, like, like...word's cannot express Page's amazingness....

RIP Mitch too! RIP to Jimi also! So many brilliant artists who died... Why? The world is a cruel place.
"On the eigth day, God created rock 'n ' roll, and thus was born Led Zeppelin."

Got to love Led Zeppelin, am I the only one who think that there is something sooo sexy about roberts voice.
That bass guitar is so good its sounds like its on a loop!

Thank you Jimmy! I wouldn't have had the slightest interest in playing a guitar if it weren't for you!
guitaristguy117:

Nice vintage clip Jon00888. I love Jimmy`s bow work. Thanx for the view.

I know that Jimmy is a sensation here but for me Bonzo and Jonesy rhythm to the end is just sublime rock and roll...
