Why is the Quest 3 SO UNCOMFORTABLE?

I've been using the Meta Quest 3 since it came out. By far the biggest issue is that it can get pretty uncomfortable after not too long.
The main reason for this is because Meta ships the Quest 3 with a basic fabric head strap. It offers little in the way of weight distribution and eventually the headset drags on the face.
I was very surprised that Meta stuck with this basic design after most users complained about the same strap on the Quest 2.
Thankfully you can easily replace the standard head strap with one of the many third party options available. In this video I test out the DESTEK QH3 which provides a much more comfortable experience. Which ever you choose just make sure it's fully adjustable and features straps on top and the back of the head.

I think it depends on the user. Not how they wear it, but just if they find it comfortable or not. I can wear mine comfortably for hours with the original supplied fabric strap.
i bought the quest 3 elite battery strap. and that fixed all of my comfort issues.
I bought a better strap and a silicon cover from the chinese market and it upped the comfort by a ton. The vr face is really bad though but the silicon wrap over the stock one helped. Really thinking of getting the bobo headstrap.
I find original fabric strap better in certain situations when you want to lay in the bed with VR on the head. But I use Kiwi Design Elite Strap for daily use. Sadly with Kiwi strap you can't put VR back into original box
I agree somewhat. I think it is Meta's ploy to make more money with expensive addons. I did by the elite strap with battery for the Quest 2 and it cracked (now duct taped). Learning my lesson I got the Binbok headstrap with swappable batteries. Quest 3 playtime with the onboard battery is way too short in my opinion.
I came from a Rift S before getting my Quest 3. I miss the strap on my Rift S after trying this new head strap haha
Switched out the stock with the BoboVR strap and oh my god I played for 8 hours straight.
It's not uncomfortable for me as I usually use the arms and push them up slightly and it takes the weight off of your checks and feels way more comfortable but not as comfortable as my Playstation VR2 though but I can wear it for more than the battery life allows me to
The quest 3 is definitely the most comfortable headset, from the quest 2 i got neckpain after 1-2 hours, with the quest 3 i never had any issues.
For me, it's the most comfortable headset that I've ever worn.
Hi , i think its ok even with the band strap but i dont play hrs and hrs. Mb 1 hr for my workout , like boxing or beat saber . Therefore i think is it very good. I need more mixed reality games like shooters so i can walk .
I have tried every headstrap on the market and still can't figure out how you can comfortably wear it. All the different headstraps are extremely uncomfortable and to lay down?
Buy a facial interface. It's the main thing that ruins comfort for me. Buying the AMVR one with ice silk immedietly solved every problem i had with comfort.
I agree. The Quest 3 for me was unusable in stock form, just like the 2 and the 1. Mark said in the launch event "it's a lot more comfortable!" In my opinion that was a lie.
I bought a Pico 4 and for the first time in my life VR is actually comfortable for me.
For me the Quest 3 aftermarket straps with battery for balance weren't the answer because they make the whole thing weigh over 800 grams. 300 ish grams heavier than the Pico. I wait for the Quest 4 to be usable out of the box. In the mean time the Pico is the only one that works for me.

I bought the kiwi strap for like 30 bucks and now it’s just insane. I could wear it all day now. They’re really just trying to sell their overpriced elite band and I guess it’s working.
My fits awesome. Way more comfortable than my Q2.
The headstrap is only cheap because they spent £430 on just the components for this headset so they had to make cuts in the strap design
Lol i been using 4-8 hours a day for 2 weeks and I feel great with 0 discomfort. My sister uses for 10 minutes and finds uncomfortable. Sorry, it is just subjective.
Meta must be crazy to make their headsets so uncomfortable out of the box. While they gain from selling the premium strap, they must lose more from lost revenue, when people don't get the premium strap, stop using the device and stop spending on apps? I got a really cheap strap, cost £15, but feels much more comfortable.

You do realize that Meta actually sells the Quest 3 practically at cost... it's expensive because that's what it costs Meta to actually make the unit. Meta isn't raking in billions in profits... in fact, they have been losing billions to date. But they have a long-term strategy so they're willing to burn through capital to achieve it.
@@covertpuppytwo3857 in Europe the price for quest 3 512 is 700 Euro. That is far more then the cost. Impossible that a piece of plastic, a few lenses, a bit of electronics exceeds 700 euros. If they really want to enter the user market the price should be below max 500 euro including link cables and including a decent headstrap. If today you need to pay 700 euro + adding another huge uplift on neccessary accessories, its not a large user market anymore. Then its only focusing on a small market segment.

Be nice if more KNOWN VR reviewers said more about all the things wrong but no.. its "its OK yeah you just need to buy a NEW Head strap a NEW battery, a new cable, MUST get a new mic..." on and on. They have no problem spending our money. Ooh what about the Quest 3 lite? Gonna get a better mic better head strap? Yeah the simple fact they knew about all of this.. its about MONEY. They need it 2022-23 loosing 25 BILLION on this VR. So the KISS UP's wont say a word because META GIVE ME MORE FREE STUFF. Sorry lol rant over.

To anyone thinking of buying a Meta Quest 3, Don't do it!!! The abrasive and uncomfortable strap is a deal-breaker, period!
It's cheap plastic, abrasive fabric and heavy weight feel more like a $50 piece of crap than the $500 high tech VR Goggles they are supposed to be. It blows my mind that someone actually ok'd the final product. I'm not sure where Meta spent the billions of dollars in design, research, manufacturing of this product, but they didn't spend a penny of it making the Meta Quest 3 something people will want to use.
Very disappointed, Hopefully they learn from their mistakes and the Meta Quest 4 will be worth buying.

Uncomfortable doesn't do it justice. This headset could be used to torture prisoners. I can't wear it for more than 20min without getting a headache. Cheap cr@p, that's what it is. $500, what a shame!
