Dion I heard your song on the radio while I was driving. I sat in my car parked in my driveway until it was finished. You’ve really captured the spirt of Sam Cook and the 1960s. Love everything about this song. Thank you and Paul.
My favorite song of the year. Contrary to what many older Dion fans think, there is a ton of outstanding music being made today by trailblazing young artists with a sound and style all their own. In that regard, modern music is no different than the days when the early rock 'n' rollers were blazing their own trail in the '50s and '60s. Don't sound like music from the past, do your own thing. As for this song, it's amazing to think that Dion is still relevant after all these years. He indeed knocked it out of the park with this one, just as he has done over his last few albums. True greatness survives the test of time, which is something Dion DiMucci has done many times over.
No one can shape a note with Bronx attitude like Dion. I'm blessed to have met him in our "oldies age" and as a kid to have seen Sam Cooke perform in the '50s. Yo' Greatness! 🎶✝️
+Jerry Rice Oh, God what memories you must have! Im a child of the 70s and started listening to this music from an early age, and was bullied for listening to those oldies when everyone else listened to Whitney Houston, Wham or Micheal Jackson etc. My mom and dad's record collection opened a heaven for me. Dion is someone who I just recently started to listen to!
@Aurica _ interesting Sam was 28 when I saw him in 1959 at Louisville's Freedom Hall. I was 15; now 77, among many still around who saw that popular road tour. Much like Johnny Mathis, Jerry Butler, the Platters and Drifters,. Sam represented the softer side of Rock-'n'-roll. Sharkskin suit and tie, he was so handsome, cool and smooth. Skin color meant nothing to the screaming young ladies. The entire crowd adored him and his style. I especially love his early Gospel songs - check out the Soul Stirrers/Highway QCs/Pilgrim Travelers compilation on SAR Records. Rod Stewart idolized Sam and the influence shows throughout his great career.
Hello 🎂 my (our) dear Dion Francis DiMucci .. its your birthday .. today its your 84th birthday and my beloved Netti & I Willie, we are so happy to celebrate this with you .. still alive. Thank you for all the music you gave to us .. and create & perform in future. 🎉 happy birthday, stay healthy and save. Have a great day, dear friend of our ❤heart. Yours Netti and Willie 🎸
One of the rare songs that captures the feel of a by gone era... I get choked up listening...I miss you Mom, Dad, cousin Sam.... Thanks Dion and Paul... love you guys...
Beautiful homage to Sam and the times we find ourselves in STILL. End racism, promote love and understanding with every action and word we say throughout each day.
Sam Cooke a believer in Christ. Yes here in America....super job on this song & wonderful tribute. The song is so so so enjoyable to listen to. Loving our fellow human being....loving and having dignity for each person not caring if they are yellow black white.... Honestly the human being has one colour....red blood. ( or is it blue blood inside body but turns red when it spills out of us. ) ...each human is on the road to hate or is on the road to love. And if wishy washy each human hates and later loves then hates then loves.... A white human on the road to love and a black skinned human on the road of love have no problem being friends !!! God is love. Jesus is the source of love ...Holy Spirit filling us will give us love in our heart. Answer to every problem A-Z problem is calling out to Jesus daily and getting filled with His Spirit. We are the branches and He the tree. He's the oil and we the lamps....He is the shepherd we the sheep....yep yellow red white and black sheep. Really like everything about this song.
Amazing song and tribute to Sam Cooke. Dion's style & voice is still great and together with Paul Simon hits this one outta the park! Thanks for sharing Dion!
Great to hear this new music... and thank you for the tribute to America, and this great man Sam... He's one of my favorite artists. That's where it's at.
Thank you Dion! So beautiful, there's another place and time and God's justice will prevail! Sam Cooke would love this song. Just imagine Sam singing this with you.. Imagine ,John Lennon would love this too! God bless you!
I’m 71 years old, and I’m a big fan of you, too, Dion, ever since Ruby. Love you longtime also Sam and Paul. All of you are treasures that enriched our lives and will never be forgotten.
Dion. DION. What can you say after watching and listening to this? He's the real thing, not a PBS nostalgia trip. This isn't blues, it isn't rock 'n roll. It's the truth rolled into a song that we can understand and sing along to, with Dion's memories to put things into perspective.
Dear Dion thank you very much for sharing this song & story with us all. I wish I was there that time .. but in my heart I am .. your words made it come true to me. Love and blessings my dear friend of my heart ❤ Willie the Wil the Wilfried from Germany 🎉 with 66 years young 😊
Been listening to Dion my entire 59 years. It’s a great thing to hear him playing with so many other great musicians, but then, who would not want to join in with a legend?
I have always loved Dion’s music. I grew up listening to him. I am now 77 years old and still listening. The song about Sam Cook is excellent . MUSIC has always been part of my life. THANK YOU for another great song. 🎵
growing up in new zealand i was a big fan of dion only just discovered this beautiful song i cant stop playing it and it keeps bringing tears to my eyes
Sam Cooke spoke to the inner side of my life, the personal psychological part of me that I couldn't share, couldn't express, words don't encompass that part of me, but even though I was caught speechless when listening to his music, I couldn't hold back the tears at his loss. It hurt me more than you'd think a pop star's death would have wrought. I still wonder why and where I'd be if he hadn't left back, then, when in '63??
Dion -- one of the last of the original classic Rock & Rollers -- look how great, how cool he still is at 81. It's inspiring. Newark, NJ born Paul Simon does a nice job as well -- starts out with Forest Hills, NY Art Garfunkle winds up with The Bronx born Dion DiMucci. How classic is that?
I mean seriously - Dion with Paul Simon singing about Sam Cooke. How does it get any better? Paul Simon was perfect for this one. I swear this guy is going to still be singing, a new song, on key, when they put him in the ground. A musical hero.
I use to hang out with his cousin Janet Campan**** (Rip) , I went to school with Louis in the Bronx. I worked with his uncle John Q (RIP) who told me that the biggest mistake he ever made was when he told Dion that he would never amount to anything. I hung out in Kitties candy store right where Dion lived before he became a legend. He knew my family also but I never met Dion myself. I did hang out with Joe Pesci though but Pesci couldn’t sing like Dion. In fact Pesci couldn’t sing to save his life!! Great guy though. Belmont section of the Bronx was the place to be in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Thanks D. ❤️
@@SturgisNikides he’s terrible. He use to work in Amici’s restaurant on 187th st and Hoffman . I use to eat there 3 nights a week at least. He use to sing table to table with his guitar. He was a friend of mine. I use to tell him ( during the day) Joey I’ll pay you not to come to my table and sing ( true story). Joes best talent was his practical jokes. Let me also add that many nights Connie Francis was there because her husband Joe Garzilli owned a piece of the place and when she was drunk she would sing and sometimes Pesci would join in or tell jokes. BUT I still stay firm and trust me. He can’t sing. Modern technology makes him sound good. You should hear him sing like I did in person! If you want to see what the restaurant looked like years ago watch the movie Marty with Ernest Borgnine. Back then it looked more like a bar than a restaurant and it was called Michael’s. The name was changed in the early 70s to Amici’s and they made it look like a real restaurant.
@@cjc4765 C'mon paisan!! You had to KNOW I was kidding! Never visited Amici's but I can imagine what it was like back in the day. I'm originally from Canarsie.

You just had to know it would be a brilliant song performed by two amazing Artists . So thank full that I got to own this and listen to it endlessly.
This is one of the most beautiful tributes I've seen. 💙 I know this is one icon singing to another, but to me this is just a man missing his friend, and I think we can all relate to that pain and loss when someone that you love has gone 🙏 Sam Cooke was one of the most naturally talented singers to ever live in my opinion 👑🥇🤝
DION MY FRIEND I LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC OVER AND OVER AS I HAVE GOTTEN SUCH AMAZING MESSAGES IN THE WORDS. THIS SONG I HAVE SHARED SO OFTEN WITH PEOPLE MUCH YOUNGER THAN MYSELF THAT NEED TO KNOW THIS MESSAGE. YOUR CHRISTIAN MUSIC IS AN AMAZING TOOL AS WELL TO SHARE TO TEACH OTHERS OF THE LOVE OF GOD AND HOW HE ONLY WANTS US TO LOVE EACH OTHER. I KNOW SO MANY PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING NOWDAYS AND THE HATE THAT HAS DIVIDED OUR COUNTRY IS INCREDIBLEY SAD TO WATCH. I KNOW THAT WITH EVERY SONG OF YOURS I SHARE IT TOUCHES ONE MORE HEART AND MAYBE SOFTENS THE BLOWS OF ANGER THAT SEEM TO JUST KEEP COMING. GOD BLESS YOU MY SWEET FRIEND. I SEND LOVE TO YOUR FAMILY AND PRAY THAT YOU ONLY HAVE PEACE AT THIS STAGE OF YOUR LIFE. MUCH LOVE....

I saw it in your smile and in your dignity”

Well said.
Unfortunately, we are subjected to devil inspiration garbage sung and performed by studio
enhanced voices.
