Jack your in depth explanation of the Z 28 MKII was brilliant . And as always your exceptional playing shows the dynamic versatility of the Z 28. One of your best video's , thank you so much.
Confession, I pretty much watch Peach Guitars videos to hear Jack play. Most of the gear is beyond my budget, and probably wouldn't sound as good in my hands as they do in his. Rock on Jack!
The man himself! Thank you for developing all the awesome amps over the years Mike! I've always loved the Maz, Cure, and Rx amps over the years - never tried a z-28. Apparently I need to "remedy" that 😅
The ease it takes for one to find the right tones , the conservative wattage, usable headroom and touch sensitivity checks every box for me. My 1961 Fender Showman also has a 5881 power section. Love 5881s! There's nothing else quite like them. Thanks Jack for doing a stellar job beautifully demonstrating Mike's Z-28 MKII's intended potential in all it's glory. It's just what the guitar world needs these days... a bulletproof, reasonably priced, truly musical amp built by a company that stands behind its products. Well done, my man! It's nice to see that Mike shows no signs of slowing down.
Your video a while back on alternative “Brown” circuits helped me to start tracking down a Mark I Z28. Have to say, I do not regret it! Great circuit. Very versatile, and sounds amazing straight in…takes pedals really nicely. You could have a whole other post on how it pairs with different speakers? Enjoyed the demo. Hard to get the feeling of the purity of the sound through an iPad? You have to play it. By itself, it has low to medium-high gain covered. Add a pedal, and you can cover any Classic Rock gain range. Anything from Tight Tweed to Blackface +++ I love how it stays just tight (…but loose) at the same time, and how you can goose the EQ to tailor the sound. Run it through an attenuator, but would LOVE to have it with a Z Master volume to dial in!
Excellent review Jack and awesome playing. I have the Z-28MK11 combo. It is incredible. Huge 3D tone lush articulate , organic and dynamic. I have had several of Dr Z's amps over the past 20 years including a few original Z-28's and This new version is his best IMHO.
I have owned 9 different Dr Z models, including this new Z-28 mkii combo, the original Z-28 and a RT66, and I can tell you that it is definitely my favorite model yet. It is incredibly versatile, and it takes pedals better that’s any amp ive played. Its a masterpiece.
Hi! Wow I’m happy you got to experience and own dr.z! Northern Canada Being in a shit hole place for not having high end amps, what dr.z like the Jetta; the Cure, Carmen Ghia, zwreck Jr, z28mk2 would you recommend for heavier sound just under Metal! Personal opinion would be great also! These are the only dr.z under 3k lol! Happy Holidays 🥳
@@RobbieRobinson-gs1go 9 Z's what other models do you have?! I've got the silver Z-Wreck with matching 2x12 cab and wanting a combo and really close to buying this but there's one thing putting me off. I run a simple set up, UAFX Golden, Suhr Discovery Delay and a Duellist. I'm wanting to set this amp with my edge of break up crunch tone and use the Duellist for solos. I'm worried my delay and verb will be Messy in the front with the amp set crunchy. Have you done this with yours? Thanks
Just picked one up last week and it’s the lifer amp for me. Simple controls and an astonishingly wide variety of tones I can dial in with a 72 LP Deluxe, a 2017 Gibson SG and my hot rodded Epi 335 with Fralin P92s and a Fralin mini hum.
Really good demo as always. So far I have not "heard" this amp on line in the few demos out there. I had a Z28MKI so I have an idea what it might sound like in my head. You made me feel much better about pre-ordering one. I am sure I will NOT be disappointed! Thanks so much for a great demo and excellent playing as well.
What I think Jacky Boy, is that not only are you a cracking banjo player, but your presentation skills are excellent. Hope John and co appreciate what an asset they have. As ever, Uncle Gazza. Merry Christmas.
This sounds amazing and what I'm looking for, but i feel like i'd need an effects loop since I'd want that beautiful amp gain as my base layer rather than pedals for OD.
That's the one and only thing bothering me and delaying me pulling the trigger. I'd want a nice light crunch dialed in from the amp, then ad delay and reverb in with a duellist, set up complete! But I think my delay and reverb would be Messy into the front of the amp set like that.
I have the Master and just got this and can’t recommend it enough. The compliment of the two is also nice. FWIW, highly recommended. I find it under-priced for what is but I guess it’s the simplicity. Good luck!
And here I thought I was the only one who had those band mates… I can tell you the Z master volume is a marvel - get your tone while keeping the band mates from grousing too much. The post phase inverter design of a Z master volume is a brilliant innovation
@@jerryhorton5708 : Thanks, good to know. I recently purchased a Morgan AC20 and I was happy that with this amp I could set it on the edge of break up, dial back the volume and still keep that sound. So I did, but even then they thought I played too loud. I don’t get it. I used to play AC30’s. Old ones and new ones. I wouldn’t crank ‘em, but even with the volume on three, it was waaaaay louder than what I have now. Then I got an AC15 and I joined this band. Too loud. Volume on 2(!!!). I like to play loud. Done it for many years and my ears are still fine. And believe me when I say it’s not something I NEED. I’m perfectly happy playing quieter. But when I can only hear the drums and some bass, then what’s the fun of being in a band as a guitar player?!?! O well…, one day. 🥴

Very nice, clearly very nice amp at the first seconds, but I hope you'll showcase the good transistor combos out there. Like the Cort CM30R, superb factory tone for an affordable amp, I improved mine with a Celestion Creamback but without it the amp already sounded better than all the other transistor amps, the comparison is not mistakable thanks to the standardized tracks in Thomann's website. I listened to about 60 amps, yes. A very close second in tone beauty is the Orange Crush RT 35, more expensive but not really needing a speaker upgrade. And since last year, Behringer makes a super-affordable (HA-40R), only 141€ 10-inch combo that's only a bit less refined in tone than the two others. But it's so affordable and complete with a footswitch input and headphone output that it's a great value. The Cort and Orange units have an effects loop on top of that, and the Orange has its own tuner.
Bloody hell that amp smokes. My Carr's are great but too polite compared these amps. The new upgrades make it way much more useable in studio, live and household.
I wish there was a master bypass. Even if it’s as good as they say it is, and you turn it all the way up, it’s still another step in the circuit rather that just being being bypass it all together.
The US is the only english speaking country that says zee instead of zed. Even here in Canada just across the border, it is zed. It’s not literally “wrong”, but saying “zee” anywhere else in the world will sound foreign.
I will never understand the need for plugging $80 of Taiwanese made horses*it into a $2k handwired masterpiece. If you feel the need for that, you bought the wrong amp.
They look marketed towards Russians given the big arsed Z on it. Obviously, that isn't intended, but it would put me off. Shame because it sounds amazing.
Fantastic demo. Really shows off the amp's character and range. So tired of wankers who dime out an amp and/or flood it with pedals. I has been confused between getting a ZWreck Jr, Maz 18 or Z 28. Think I'll go with this.

Never heard a blues driver sound that good in my life lol Got a z28 on pre order 🤘🏼

Best Z amp demo I've ever seen. If I get one, I'll need Jack to come over and play it to sound this good. Phenomenal.
I love, I mean _LOVE_ the wonderful playing of Jack! Great video!
Jack's musical vocabulary on the guitar is immense. I can do a lot of really cool riffs and stuff, but Jack is beyond me for sure. He has my respect.
