Joe knows his shit... how many players know that a 5E7 has a cathodyne PI vs. the long tailed pair of most higher powered amps? everything he mentioned about the inner workings of a tweed era tube amp is spot-on and accurate. Kudos Joe!

@@stevesmith3033 Since we are picking nits...Technically, Joe is the one 'spewing disinformation'. I would never discuss the inner workings of a tweed fender at any party. I could watch him talk about guitars and amps all day. There's a great series he did with Gibson a few years ago where he shows you how to set up a Les Paul. He knows this stuff inside out. Oh yeah, and is an incredible guitarist, singer and songwriter as well.
I met a friend of Les Paul's in Waukesha, WI he was playing piano at a music store opening. He'd been playing piano for over 60 years the music effortlessly flowed from his fingers like water. This is Joe on the guitar.
Mr Walsh is soooooooo cool 😎 and so knowledgeable! And Mr Gallagher is so sweet as usual😊 Plus this amp really does sound amazing -I can't remember the last time I wanted to try an amp this bad!...Well this video made my day -thank you sweetwater! 👍
Unlike a lot of ‘famous’ guitar players, Joe Walsh knows his technical specs. That goes for amps, and guitars. He can easily do a professional set up on a guitar because he knows what is needed and how to achieve it.
Thank you SW/MG/AV staff and Joe! What a trip - Joe such a character and glad he's still dropping my jaw with his mojo grooves lol What a great sounding amp - sounds like it has its own mojo. While my honest wallet won't let me add this amp to my wish list, I'm okay with that and will enjoy from afar. Enjoyed the interview, thank you - cheers!
The bandmaster acquired by Pete, is waay diff than normal fender, due to plate load coupling direct to driver tube.....its VERY direct sounding, n thus u can hear that on that album, had one in for repair, its very very cool design..kudos to fender!

I bought one> After a few days of having it, I came across this interview. Joe is spot on 10.000% with what he is saying. It took me a second to bond with it, once i did, holy .... It works with every guitar I have. With low volumes, it has a glossy thing that’s so beautiful but , but at those same volumes, you can make it do an angry Keef thing quite easy. It also pedals up better then any amp I have ever used. Then when you crank it, it smashes the room, but like he says its articulate. One more thing, when he says it is waiting to see, he is spot on. #everybodyssodifferentihaventchanged
Joe is awesome. I love his appearance on Live From Daryl’s House. Most people get on that show and try and be smooth and soulful because of Daryl’s background. Joe just plugged in his guitar and blew the doors off the place. He made Daryl Hall work that day.
Best review ever. I love Sweetwater; Joe Walsh was intimately aware of designing a true amp. Joe has struggled and showed up to support a guitarists amp. God bless you both. #joewalsh #sweetwater #jamesmcmullin #jasonfilaramo #barryandjames
Great content. Very nice man and thanks to Joe for taking the time to talk to us. Great job by Mitch in an odd set up. Looks like a backroom at airport security. Kind of a throw back video quality on early MTV. Did Mitch have his shoes off too?
Holy shit. I just bought a Fender Blues Jr and now I realize I got no idea what’s in it or how it works. Joe is just amazing as a man and as a guitar player.
Sweetwater has gone from "look at what all the nerd knobs do on this thing-a-ma-jigger box" videos years ago - to bringing us Jedi wisdom from Joe Walsh and Brad Paisley. It's also a testament to how much these two Ordinary Average Guys love Dr. Z and his amps. Thank you Sweetwater for bringing us Joe and Brad. Thank you Joe and Brad for your words of wisdom and for being a key part of why we picked up a guitar in the first place. And thank you Dr. Z for being such a Class A act and the excellent product and service you provide (he answers the damn phone personally...can't beat that :)
Joe is one generous guy to sacrifice that baby for Pete to sound so great. 'Who's Next' is my favorite of Pete's tones and my favorite Who album. I own a 65' bandmaster. It does not do what this thing does. After learning about this amp I am considering having my tech change my 65' bandmaster head into this circuit. It may not be the combo but I'll be half way there.

Don Felder and Irving Azoff don’t always get the credit for their intervention that cleaned up Joe to rejoin the Eagles and possibly saved his life. Joe often gets the limelight as the great player he is, but I listen to so many of Don’s tasteful guitar and steel parts live with the Eagles or on record, and love his versatility and tastefulness in playing exactly what the song needs. So under rated.

Joe knows his shit... how many players know that a 5E7 has a cathodyne PI vs. the long tailed pair of most higher powered amps? everything he mentioned about the inner workings of a tweed era tube amp is spot-on and accurate. Kudos Joe!
Nope. He said Triad made Fender 4 ohm speakers. He also said the tweeds used 12AT7's. Wrong. They used 12AY7's and 12AX7's. The long tail phase inverter was used in tweeds, well before Blackface amps. Also, speaker impedance rating is just an average. Across the frequency spectrum they can vary from 2 ohms to 32 ohms typically. A 2 ohm or a 2.6 ohm output transformer in a Bandmaster won't be the source of amp mojo. Speakers don't sag, it's the power supply that sags.
@@stevesmith3033 isn't it great to be 'technically' correct? I bet you're a hoot at parties. Please carry on correcting the internet.
@@YOUKNOOB Mr. Noob would spewing misinformation make you a hoot at a party? lol
@@stevesmith3033 Since we are picking nits...Technically, Joe is the one 'spewing disinformation'. I would never discuss the inner workings of a tweed fender at any party. Furthermore, you are a silly man for even calling him (me?) out for this. Don't you have anything better to do - build an amp, perhaps? Thank you again for your ardent efforts at highlighting insignificant technical inaccuracies of a rockstar who is 30 years past his prime. I hear someone called a 1971 Marshall superlead a 'Plexi' somewhere - please fix this immediately!!
@@YOUKNOOB WTF knob! YOU are the one that said "Joe knows his shit" and "everything he mentioned about the inner workings of a tweed era tube amp is spot-on and accurate" He gets a pass but what's your excuse?? Keep smoking that crack I guess.
Sadly we cannot buy these amps in Canada. We can only get Doctor Zed.
Haha which includes increased cost due to the weak dollar.
Class “eh” amplifiers
Maybe you should have the left the alpahbet all single letters eh? Instead of making one a word haha
dean slater like “doubleyou” haha
@@JumboJimbo015 Hahaha That would be "Dubba yew"
Love my z master. Best amp I've ever owned and I have fender tweed reissue amps. Only had one problem with it redplating and DR. Z fixed it for me for free. But you definitely stand out in a good way in a band with this amp.
Sweetwater . Yah hell yah J . W ... it doesn't get any better than this the man J. W... Sweetwater y'all are the best . 👍🤘ON TROYFROST TROYSTER 😎Cool Riffs
I could watch him talk about guitars and amps all day. There's a great series he did with Gibson a few years ago where he shows you how to set up a Les Paul. He knows this stuff inside out. Oh yeah, and is an incredible guitarist, singer and songwriter as well.
100% Agreed
I met a friend of Les Paul's in Waukesha, WI he was playing piano at a music store opening. He'd been playing piano for over 60 years the music effortlessly flowed from his fingers like water. This is Joe on the guitar.
In spite of extensive, excessive drug use in the past, Joe Walsh is an absolutely brilliant man.
God love Joe. A great player, a character and he’s ready for butter. This mans Toast!
Yes. And ready for ... JAM ... heh-heh ...
Try a Gjika, it has no peer
Unlike a lot of ‘famous’ guitar players, Joe Walsh knows his technical specs. That goes for amps, and guitars. He can easily do a professional set up on a guitar because he knows what is needed and how to achieve it.
A genius at "Less is more " !
Joe a luthier type? hmmm..

Anything with Joe Walsh gets my thumbs up.
How can anyone not want one after watching this. Joe is one of the greats. Guitar royalty
Indeed
The bandmaster acquired by Pete, is waay diff than normal fender, due to plate load coupling direct to driver tube.....its VERY direct sounding, n thus u can hear that on that album, had one in for repair, its very very cool design..kudos to fender!
Joe is a long time ham radio operator .. the electronics stuff comes naturally to him.
It's pretty amazing how much knowledge he has about EVERY aspect of an Amp, and what does what.

He's just brilliant, he's forgotten more than I'll ever know.
that's for sure
Oh boy, Joe is THE MAN! Sounds like he’s just about to lapse into a deep sleep........then comes out with sharply observed gems of knowledge and wisdom! And of course, like all the greats, has a totally unique and instantly recognisable tone! He’s the guy who got me into DrZ amps YEARS ago! 😎😍👍
Listening to Joe explain this amplifier makes me want to buy one. And I'm a drummer.
Richard Penman that’s awesome 🤘
I hear that. Makes me want to take my 68 Plexi Marshall, and two 70s Marshall cabs and trade them in for one!
Joe is the greatest amp builder/tech/top dog guitarist on the planet. I bet he would be big fun for an amp builder to work with. HELLO DOLLY!
I want to go back into electronics, then come back and understand wtf he's saying.
Joe knows his stuff. GREAT job at an interview. Great.
I loved how he sums it up after a detailed explanation: "This amp says "Show me what you got" and that's what you'll get." ...permanent grins ensue.
Cool video Joe ! Always been a big fan. Saw you in Dayton Ohio way back in about 1972 or so.
Joe Walsh talking about "long-tailed pairs" and tube numbers, I really didn't see that coming. Pretty awesome
Beautiful tone.. i need this amp 😍
1 of my 🎸 heroes for sure!!! I'm interested in that amp just because it's his signature!!!🤘🤘🤘🙏🙏🙏
Great content. Very nice man and thanks to Joe for taking the time to talk to us. Great job by Mitch in an odd set up. Looks like a backroom at airport security. Kind of a throw back video quality on early MTV. Did Mitch have his shoes off too?
The Legend Joe Walsh👏👏👏😃😃😃. Congrats for the amp👍😃 . Cheers from Viamao City - RS Estate - Brazil
Holy shit. I just bought a Fender Blues Jr and now I realize I got no idea what’s in it or how it works. Joe is just amazing as a man and as a guitar player.
How many joints did this dude smoke ? Lol.. love Joe Walsh.. one of the best
A lot more bright than the mighty Fender 310. This is a great amp, clean clean clean sound
Best sweetwater video of all time!
Joe's enunciation has improved...
seriously
Walsh is that buddy you exchange gear videos with over text all day and can’t wait to jam with. With some beers.
It is a dichotomy listening to Joe regarding electrical engineering. I love this guy.
It doesn’t matter who you’re looking at sir…… Your words are all that matters. Great video.
This amp sounds really balanced to me. It's smooth without being thumpy or tubby.
Yep that confirms it, one of the best ears in the business.
Joe Walsh wow! What an amazing guy. Down to earth as down-to-earth can be. And it sounds like whenever he plays with every claim you can tell if Sam can't you? I seen him lecture students pretty recently videos of that and I seen his old Gibson commercial videos how to take care of your gifts and how to set it up excetera very cool down-to-earth and if I'm not mistaken he gave Jimmy change his famous Les Paul write she gave George Harrison his first S3 if I'm not mistaken that guitar was used in the revolver error on revolver and who else did he give a guitar to oh yes and what he gave Peter Townsend the am and I think he also gave you two towns on the guitar what a cool guy great fucking historical and contemporary current music I love her song analog Man which is not today's time frame but it's only a year or two back right what a lovely great guy great video
We love you Joe. There is not two of you in this world. Intelligent and funny. What a life you have had thus far; good or not so good. I love that you can be self- depricating. We need more of that in this world. You really know your shit gear and guitar-wise. I usually take your advice on everything to do with the guitar. Especially on tuninig "up" rather than "down." Great tip. Listen to this man.
This sounds great through my phone speakers, can't wait to hear it on my studio monitors.
Three things...
1.)Joe Walsh's hands are enormous
2.)The leg kicking in the beginning...
3.)Joe Walsh is awesome
Love that amp! It sounds like a tweed bandmaster!
Holy crap... who knew Joe had such a deep knowledge of amp history & technology. He's a feak'n expert, and a hell of a player, good on ya Joe!
One Amp to rule them all !!!
Joe , I love it when you talk technical .
As a guitar player I want to be like Joe in every way......thank you Joe for evrerything you have given us. A national tteasure indeed!
Joe knows amps. Love it.

Joe is the man! Saw the Eagles last spring. Basically carried the show.
Joe knows his electronics; amp circuits, tubes, transformers, and much more.
I know electronics so I've had experience with tubes and repairing amps
The tone master has revealed his secrets.
Totally agree with Joe on 5881 output tubes. I have them in my vintage blackface amps and they are warmer.
Joe is often misunderstood as “ genius” always is.
He’s the greatest in my opinion. 😎🐝
One of my all time favorite
Joe freaking Walsh!
I love this cat. The damage is evident, but he's still my favorite rock player. Legend.
cool video Mitch and Joe. folks who are into hang on every word Joe is saying
Ronnie Montrose used a 3x10" Bandmaster for that first Montrose record.
Yah! The younger ones amongst us be askin', "Who's Ronnie Montrose?"
Great info! Didn't know that!
@@sonicbridge1944 They should all know "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter. Ronnie was the guitar player on that album. "They Only Come Out At Night."
Joe Walsh, I'd listen to him talk all day. He sounds like he just woke up from surgery, yet is as sharp as a tack. What a bona-fide legend.
