zorth42 I had a great experience at this store (Righteous Guitars) when I bought a guitar. The salesman helped me pick out a few guitars to try, suggested (and helped me dial in) the amps to demo them on, then left me alone in the room. Came back from time to time to see how I was doing. No pressure whatsoever, just help when I needed it. I had a very good idea what I was after when I went in there. I was a very happy customer!

My saying is always "If that doesn't work I'll go to Plan B." Why? Because even if I don't have Plan B all thought out, unless I'm against a time limit, I can always figure something out, some Plan B. Life always has options, often better than Plan A. Nevertheless, Rhett should get that Fender before someone else gets it, if he really likes it. One caution - used car salesmen learned long ago that a clean car was worth hundreds more than even a lightly soiled one. Today used cars get detailed to add value, and new car lots have a full-time car wash employee. That Fender might have been detailed to get it so clean., making customers think it had hardly ever been used.

when youre buying a guitar or amp or effect its always best to bring the other stuff with you so you get the real tone, there is so many things that effect tone in electric guitars its crazy...
i mainly play acoustic and its easy to compare 2 different acoustics, but its always funny how someone tries to show me how their electric guitar sounds and im like ye, ok... but im hearing 50 guitar and 50 amp... even with just these two factors there is limitless combinations then add strings, effects and you got yourself a multiverse of combinations lol

Idea for another video, in light of your experience with that sweet 67: If I took away all of your pedals, and you had to choose a guitar and an amp to gig with, what would it be? Nothing else on stage but a tuner.

I wish the people at guitar center were like the folks at this shop, so willing to be helpful and friendly. At my local GC most of them act like I'm bothering them if I wanna talk shop. Which is terrible considering most people that work there play something so u would think they would enjoy chatting about gear and music

Monk of the Funk - They pay them peanuts and they work every weekend. Nobody that works there is happy because they’re in retail hell.

The guitar center on NE. Expressway in Atlanta has a great staff. But they got 5 home town stores with in 6 miles to compete with. And all of those stores have a great staff.

Never tell them your "price range." The best amp I ever used live was a $99 Peavey, 15 watt, single channel, single 12.
For the love of god and all that is holy, never transport an amp or cabinet on its back. Every bump and jostle in the road will caused that heavy magnet on the back of the speaker to exert downward pressure on the speaker and could possibly end up tearing the speaker. Always lay your amps and your cabs face down when transporting them if you can't transport them in their upright position.

Once upon a time I went into a music store to test a pedal and walked out with a 3000€ Les Paul. Didn't buy the pedal nor even remember what it was. Still have the Les Paul tho.

When the salesman goes straight for a "boutique" amp, watch out! The Fender 68' Deluxe Reverb is what he should have gotten. It was staring him right in the face. I picked a used one up for $650. Great sounding amp, and it's light!

  • @ammoalamo6485

That Deluxe Reverb is like a money market account with high interest, man. It's not an expense, it's a sound investment. But, you'll be afraid to take it out of the house, and feel great regret after, or if, you ever sell it. It's time to whip out the credit card and tell them if they knock $250 off the price you'll save them the hassle of finding the two-wheeler and moving it around and setting it up for everyone who comes through the door. Yeh, credit cards are terrible, but if you can pay it off quickly it's not so bad. That's my thinking, so you can see why back when I did sports photography I once bought a $7,000 lens on the spur of the moment. I used it all the time for ten years, and when my gig changed I resold it for $500 more than I paid, which almost beat inflation. Nevertheless, when gear is so good, has such enduring resale value that you basically get to use it for free for years until it eventually gets re-sold, how can you pass it up?
