Great discussion of the two specialization choices at 7:00. People get too wrapped up in the idea of only one way to do things and forget that equipment and field mods allow us to tailor the tank to our play style.

Yeah, but field mods are one-dimensional, with the added catch of making some aspects worse, so someone wants to have their tank as flexible as they can with two different sets of equipment field mods might kinda counter that.

QB, I actually have to thank you in regards to the second equipment builds. After Equipment 2.0 and the modifications came out, I never used them. I just didn't see the need, because I tried to set up my tanks with a "one build fits all" kind of style. However, I believe it was maybe a year or two ago now, you released a video stating the importance of the second build and switching it between maps to fit your playstyle and help the team. After that, I tried unlocking the field mods on as many of my tanks as I can. I still have a loooooong way to go, but your advice has helped me improve in the game. I'm just a casual player, but by showing me how to set up certain vehicles and explaining the importance of a second build, I have a lot more fun now than I did before.

you are not wrong sir - even without the exhaust system you can get the bourrasque to nearly 43% camo/34% moving while running improved vents, bounty optics and CVS. Even in tier 10 battles you become a very powerful light tank. I have had some of my best games in the bourrasque as a bottom tier tank when there are no light tanks in the battle. Base view range in this setup is 490 so you have vision control all over the scouting favorable maps. The problem with your reasoning is that your "setup" is working in spite of the setup. If you play a good position for any given matchup, it's going to work whether you have the right setup, the wrong setup, or no setup at all. There are people who 3 mark LTs with no ammo. Does that mean it's better to play with no ammo?
Hardening/rammer/vstab has become the new vents/rammer/vstab. The only variations you'll see on this are:
    1. Tanks with < .1 on their traverse that gain more benefit dropping vstab for IAU.
    2. Superheavies/ram meme builds that double up hardening and turbo.
    3. Autoloaders that can't use rammers.
    4. Light tanks and arty.
    5. Pseudo lights like Bourrasque that can use full LT setup.
    6. TDs that cannot vstab.
The equipment rework, despite its best intentions, has really done nothing to break the cookie cutter builds this game suffers from. It just shuffled the deck and created additional p2w monetization opportunities and another dual pay/playwall for new players via bounty, bond and experimental.

Most of the casual players who do have 2 set ups will often only have 1 different equipment spot - because of cost. Half a million credits is not a small amount for players who play with a surplus of less than a couple of million if not researching a line. The usual difference in two set ups is which equipment goes in the first slot; which replaces vents? Sometimes vents is first on both, and then it is a case of which specialist equipment do you take instead of a generic piece. Few players could justify changing out 2 slots for certain situations.

I'm using the new Experimental Turbo (mobility improvement system) upgraded to tier 3 (8% engine pwer, 6% turret traverse, 5km/h top speed, 3km/h reverse) and the Commanders Vision System on my Progetto 65 for open maps like this, I don't remember my third one. For city maps, I use Improved Hardening and Vents I think, I don't remember my third, for the Progetto 65, just to have 2 different builds for that maps I am playing on and it's nice.

There is no point to argue wich equipment is the most usefull. Every player plays differently and thus every piece of equipment has different value to different players. For example on most tanks i dont use gunrammer, because of my passive and defencive playstyle i dont see the point of reducing the reload of a gun buy 0.6 seconds or less. I will rather improve accuracy.

QB - I don't know where you said it because I was listening to this particular upload on my TV behind me while playing Master of Orion on my Computer in front of me and I'm not going to waste time trying to find the time stamp; but you said Wargaming stated that most players don't use the second setup for equipment configuration. THAT'S THE RUB!!! I hadn't played WOT in years and am now just getting back into it because of your Quickybaby Commander gift drop for watching your Anniversary Stream (thank you very much!).
I (probably like many) DON'T KNOW HOW TO EVEN CREATE A SECOND EQUIPMENT CONFIGURATION FOR A TANK!!! The only configuration option I have at the beginning of any battle is which tank to pick for the battle! There is NO Equipment configuration option because for me, it still doesn't exist! PLEASE HELP, and stop presuming everybody knows how to do it already. Every time you mention it in a video, you never provide a link to where you might have already discussed it and that just adds to the frustration. Love ya, love ya, love ya! You provide so much information already! Thank you!

25,000 games in and i only have second equipment builds on about 10 tanks. I have 43 tier 10 tanks, 22 left to buy. Even if i can save up for a sale, thats 40 million credits on equipment i could use on buying a third of the tanks ive had unlocked for a year now but haven't got round to grinding the credits for.
In reality by the time i buy consumables on sale and set up the t8 premiums i grind credits on and my favourite tier 9s with a second set its probably going to be another years and 5k games before i can kit everything out the way id like.
WOT plus and building up a stockpile of bounty and experimental equipment has at least let me swap out one bit of equipment on a lot of tanks - like having either a turbo or hardening on many heavies, but at the end of the day, the credit grind is the real problem for me.

If you can't stand -13 reverse speed on a MT, if you can't stand that moon-sized bloom on a MT, and you don't want to have a huge chance of getting a free garage ticket in the 1st minute of the battle for playing super aggressively while your tank is not capable of doing so, then just don't put an Exhaust on your Lion, don't use that +3% camo from Lv5 Field Mod, and don't try to play in LT positions.
This tank is neither sneaky nor fast enough for that.
The chance of getting actual spotting map without LTs is small.
The chance of getting actual spotting map without LTs & MTs that can outspot the Lion is even smaller.
You can have a 2nd set with V.Stab + CVS + Vents for Fisherman's Bay where you can spot through the bush safely.
But other than that, just do what the tank does best, hulldown when the situation allows and snipe when you can't be aggressive.
Nothing too crazy, nothing too extraordinary, but it's consistent and it doesn't make you smash your keyboard while screaming.

This again proves how obsolete light tanks have become at high tiers, especially tier X. Sure, light tanks still might be best for maps like Prokhorovka, but on most other maps a medium tank set up with a scouting build can basically take over the role of a light tank without sacrificing the massive damage dealing potential a medium tank has over a light tank. High tier light tanks really need a buff, or better yet, every other class needs to get their view range nerfed massively. Like how come that even heavy tanks get better view range than light tanks? It's ridiculous. Furthermore, CVS should be an equipment, which only light tanks are able to use, to make them more relevant.
And regarding to 12:36, for f2p-players the second set of equipment is less usable, because unlike p2w players we need to use coated optics. So that means we have much less room for variation of equipment, because basically coated optics is always a must.

    • @hohuynhquocchuong4925

When you have over 250 tanks, having 2 builds on each is insane. That's why, in the WG stats, people don't use the second build. I play 30 different tanks in 2 daqys, and they are allways other tanks then the previous 2-3 days, so for me, I would have to grind 2 months on daily bassis, at least 4 hours/day, just tio farm the credits for that second build, on all the tanks, and WITH THE WARGAMING NERF OF CREDITS INCOME IN THE LAST 2 YEARS, that would not be easy or fun, and I AM REALLY BURNED OUT BY THE FVCKING MARATHON, to have fun grinding so much any more.
