Love the resto Cuda vs Plaid races Andrew. Good stuff buddy. Both cars are beasts. Enjoyed the GN's too. Like you I was amazed at those Corvette killers back in '86 & '87 hitting 0-60 in under 5 seconds. Simply astonishing back then. My how far we have come with cars hitting those speeds now in under 2 seconds.
L98 C4 Vettes were just exhaust and gears away from beating Grand Nationals off the showroom floor. GNs were just slightly faster stock vs stock. Some 3.73s and longtubes on the C4 and it would beat the GN.
@metalted6128 a full sized car on a g body platform with a turbo v6 vs a fiber glass vet with a v8 that was the flag ship and they wouldn't allow anyone to be faster then it was. it didn't matter if you were Pontiac, Olds, or anyone else. The vet has always been on an alter.
Andrew -- looks like you guys in the Tampa area are about to catch some bad weather heading your way in the next couple of days. I'm here in Houston so hurricane season isn't a new thing for us either. Hope you and the family stay safe! And thanks for taking your time and effort to make sure the cameras are working, getting the footage, editing it, and pushing out content for our enjoyment -- it's not unnoticed and very much appreciated.
@@jasonlindamood Thanks Jason! 👍Indeed, the post production process takes much longer than the race nights themselves. (Usually ~6 hours or so when things go smoothly, but we’ve had many that took longer.) Encouragement from fans like yourself is what keeps us going. We’ll always be out there racing, but editing and posting them in this format doesn’t pay much for our niche audience 😃. (We were never in it for the 💰)
@@FrunkToTrunk We suspect the tree is miscalibrated on the left lane, as everyone has been consistently red lighting after they took it apart a month or so ago.
Actually, they had big issues with the electronics at this track recently, as shown in a video last month. Since that time, everyone seems to red light in the left lane. Like both of us did every time. And previous weeks also. We suspect that there’s something off with the calibration 🤔
👍 All of us here actually built cars for many decades. Although chronic backaches caused me to trade gas for kilowatts, we still have huge appreciation for all these cars, from the GN to the Cuda and the old truck as well 😃
Thanks for the video and good drag match between both of you. I watch many of your drag racing videos to see how you do against various vehicles. Question: How is the wear or life span on your tires on the Tesla doing drag racing? I have a Tesla Model Y for just normal driving. Take care.
👍Still on the original set of Pirelli tires after 38 months, 24K miles, and 900 dragstrip runs! And they have almost HALF of their tread left! Amazing!
Little tip run some methanol with your e85 about 20 percent will keep the iats cool and pick up some power while your at it as long as you have big enough injectors you will be fine, buddy runs 30 percent 1 gallon of meth to 3 of e85 gained 60 whp
6.0 is a low 9 at least a 4.30 is a 6.80 in the 1/4, do a dry launch pick up some glue in that tesla, nitto makes some amazing drag radial for your car Kyle from the boosted boyz picked up a full second but he has also ran a 8.40 something
😃We lent Kyle our Nitto NT01s last year when he set a previous record with the little guy driving. We also raced him 5 times: ruclips.net/video/q010lyj-yko/видео.html
We haven’t seen any donks after that one hit the wall a couple of months ago, barely missing my buddy’s Plaid in the next lane. (They need more traction than this track can offer?)
Fun fact: Every race on “Street Outlaws” is 1/8th mile. Talking to hundreds of dragstrip drivers over the last many years, they usually say something like: “Most parts break after the 1/8th mile mark and the race is already decided anyway.” We’ve also noticed that the quickest cars prefer to run 1/8th. The slow street cars all seem to prefer 1/4 mile, since they need over 1000 feet just to break 100 MPH. Just sayin’ 🤷🏻♂️

NICE WORK! Huge Tesla Plaid Fan here!!
Looking forward to our next run Greg! Wait til you see these new drag radials at Bradenton 😳
Amazing to see old new nostalgia mopar go head to head against the future for electric drag cars. Really cool stuff. It was a treat to see this.
Thank you for recognizing the essence of this episode 👍 We love the classics as much as the new tech! 😃

@@speedracerjeffbut you understand completely different cars???
Your bragging about gm flag ship car, vs a v6 car.
Completely different design!!

close races! That Cuda has come a long way. He has been consistently making it faster.
I was gonna ask about, new drag radials.
And when.
Can’t wait for next video!!
Great video Andrew!
@@metalted6128 What an interesting test it was this week! 😳 No spoilers, but even we were surprised, in more ways than one!

Great races, cool cars, great video as usual.
I wanted a Buick Grand National so bad back in 1987 but couldn’t afford as a college undergrad. Nice to see a few still running strong.
Me too! I had to “settle” for a 1989 5.0LX foxbody 5-speed instead, for my budget of ~$14K. (Loved it, and added a 175HP NOS shot)
To be honest you can still buy one, my buddy has a 1000 whp one for sale 40k original engine just built
Great video!!! As always!!
Andrew!!
Stay safe with the nasty weather, close to you.
@@metalted6128👍 Thanks Ted! 😃
It’s gonna be nice as always, thanks Andrew!!!❤
this cuda in blue is beautiful when I was young it was my dream car

That is such a cool 'Cuda! Great races!
👍 A very impressive build. He’s got it dialed in now 😃
Another great video Andrew.
That Hellcat Cuda is a trip. Really runs good now. Makes for good racing with the Plaid.
New Dodge against older Tesla: evenly matched. Very old Plymouth against newer Tesla: also evenly matched 😂 very cool
First time I’ve seen you red light. You’re usually right on it. Did the Cuda get in your head? 😁

great night thanks for the races, runday sunday next weekend at bradenton hopefully tracks on point and can run some pb.
Thank you as well David! Let’s see if anyone has any other questions about your ‘Cuda’s specs.
That track seemed painful even from here

At 3:43 the trailered GN made a 7.10 pass. He wasn’t ready to race it, as he was just making his first test passes 👍

Yep, we are in North Tampa. We will make our plans today
Why this much trouble? Just strap a rocket on the car and you can finish 1/4 mile in 1 second.
Nothing out there is beating the tesla plaid idc if you got 2000hp GTR they can get gapped to!!!!!
That track worker telling times should be fired if you guys were running N/T
We weren’t running NT. In almost 2000 dragstrip runs, we’ve never once wrote NT on our window 😃

@@TeslaPlaidChannel 💯 and the NHRA races are now 1000ft I believe, not 1320 anymore. Due to speed and not enough room to slow down nowadays.
