You have made me see the light in that it really does not belong on Twitch, or really any other platform. Gambling is one of the most addicting things there is, and ruins lives. It should be done with expendable income for entertainment only, never to try and actually MAKE money, that is just a possible biproduct, but in the long run an impossible feat. Thanks coffee, I was a bit angry about the ban, but now I think it is certainly the best course of action. Love the content.
damn you beat me to it. Can't wait to see what happens with all of the influencers who relied on the Stake safety net to feed their gambling addiction and not leave them homeless.
Speaking from personal experience sports betting can absolutely become addictive. I was so hooked I nearly lost my home. Thankfully I finally beat that demon when my partner announced we were going to have our first child which was the kick in the teeth I needed.
I’ve heard that gambling can be even more addictive and destructive than drug addiction or alcoholism but thankfully, I’ve never been a gambling addict so I wouldn’t know from personal experience
@@cordan305 Im partially wanting to believe that only because unlike alcoholism/drugs it doesn't physically affect you. Meaning more gambling doesn't destroy you physically over time, only financially which is harder to see the ramifications of that cuz it takes longer for those to set in than drug/alcohol.
The gambling on Twitch has always struck me as really weird and sad. I checked out an Aiden Ross stream once because it was on trending and the whole thing looked like it could be a PSA for gambling addiction. I don't know who would want to watch it, or who would walk away with the thought that going to those online casinos looked good.
Addiction might be a personal problem to a large extent, but having a crack dealer on every corner is still not okay. It takes advantage of people who are vulnerable and ultimately hurts society by taking away what could otherwise be good people who would do good things for the society. A society is built and only as good as the people running and participating in it.
Agreed, as an impulsive person that was on the path to cocaine addiction, changing jobs and moving away from a work environment where 2 or 3 people were dealers, that basically stopped overnight. Not having ease of access to something addictive is definitely a huge help.
This is essentially the next level of gambling. There are RUclips videos on gambling addiction in the UK (Gambling Addiction & Me: The Real Hustler - 2017) and back when they were made they showed bookmakers' and betting shops on virtually every corner. It's sickening.. Now, hey.. you don't have to leave your house. Using BTC to deposit and gamble is completely integrated and streamlined on the platforms. And since they are outside main jurisdictions, no one can stop it.
Well actually when they make things like alcohol or weed illegal, that's what led to the giant cartels and mafias. Better to regulate vices than have them illegal.
The main issue I see is that a huge percentage of Twitch's audience are minors. They're not of legal age to gamble, because society doesn't believe that they have the mental and emotional capacity for "personal responsibility". But for some reason, Twitch was okay with minors getting to gamble vicariously through their favourite streamers, on unregulated sites that are under no legal requirement to adhere to fair representations. Your favourite streamer might be making crazy-ass bets that make no sense, because their contract literally covers any losses they incur, while still paying out their winnings. They might be winning every single spin on slots or the roulette wheel because the game is rigged in their favour to make it look like on average people win more than they lose (simply untrue in any casino, absolutely untrue in an unregulated one). These things are going to seriously entice minors into thinking that gambling is a legitimate means of income, particularly on games of chance (after all, if you 100% know what you're doing, poker and sports betting *can* be legitimate means of income, but slots or table games never can). And because a lot of these sites aren't regulated, there's nothing stopping minors from signing up, buying a bunch of crypto to gamble with and gambling away all their money (or stealing/borrowing money from other people and gambling away all of that). Most of these things would be 100% illegal if the casinos were regulated under for example US law. A US casino cannot intentionally misrepresent your odds of winning, they can't even allow minors into the casino, and they can't imply that people can make a living on games of chance.
The slot websites banned are actually U.S regulated, pretty sure they use the same clauses that allow loot boxes in video games. Instead of gambling money you buy some special currency and then gamble with that. Don't know how that's legal but it is
I discovered your channel a couple weeks ago and I just want to say that your content is incredible! I love your work and congrats on all those interesting videos! Cheers!
poker is a game that combines luck with a bit of skill. good poker players can limit their losses and know when to walk away, you'll never find a good slots player since slots have no skill envolved.

Its nice that Twitch finally did what they should've done the first time which was over a year ago but the damage has been done in my opinion. Streamers have successfully lured a ton of viewers into those shady crypto gambling sites in exchange for a few million dollars and Im almost certain that kids especially have developed an addiction that they will carry over for a very long time and could ruin their lives at a young age. You would not be wrong if you said that Twitch made Stake.

Well Twitch is owned by Amazon we cant expect good things coming form them.... But this is a showing that sometimes they try to make themselves better.
It sounds to me like they're trying to limit long-term losses via bad publicity, which all big companies do. They have to appear to have a conscience in order to stay relevant. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great, but it's calculated - it's not the same way that a human might try to do better after making a mistake.
I am still confused how Twitch isn't getting a standard 18+ rating. Can't touch the mainpage without seeing a good abudance of internet thots (Girls that use their sexual features to exploit children into buying them subs etc )
I thought I knew twitch, people streaming themselves playing games. I recently learned on here that twitch gambling was a thing and a eyebrow was raised, how oddly insane it sounds.
Twitch started out as a gaming stream plattform. But thats long gone. With Arts, Softporn, podcasts, gambling etc its just a videoplatform. And a terribly managed one as well...
Not defending it, I’m as happy as the next guy, the reason it got a pass was gambling broadcasts are an established thing (ie World Series of poker) and twitch is about games which does to some extent include games of chance. It was kinda within the ballpark of what could be seen as acceptable even if imo it never was acceptable. I am pretty hardline on gambling but I get why it took a lot to move the needle.
the speed at which casino games allows someone to lose money is insane. fantasy sports or poker, you can lose large amounts of money but you can't lose huge sums in only minutes. unless you're adam sandler in uncut gems.
I'm not here to argue which form of gambling is worse or not, I just find it quite funny that Sliker's supposed gambling addiction that caused all of this was sports betting and that's one of the forms of gambling that is still allowed on Twitch.
makes perfect sense why they did that amazon owns twitch and amazon just signed a sponsorship contract with draft kings a week later the offshore casinos casinos that licensed regulated us ones simply can't compete with them due to regulation get banned
Twitch has covered up for years. My own assualt case against them went cold after they changed a certain staff members email address and refused to take the detectives phone call. Both actions resulting in being unable to question twitch about my case. It feels good to see them burn a little :)
@@MaryamMaqdisi thank you :) doctors and counciling has helped My goal atm is to raise awareness to any others, past, present or future that if twitch staff did sa, there is an open case in San Diego they can report, no paperwork as I've already done it
I mentioned this on Twitter, but I think that the reason why sports betting and fantasy sports are being omitted is due to their agreement with the NFL and their sponsors. I don't think they would risk having a massive agreement like that run afoul of ToS. But that's just a theory of mine
They are children, who can't play slots that's why and that's why these affiliate codes are bad, as some of those kids will illegally play them. After being encouraged by people they look up to
As a new investor in Zilla I'm really pleased to see this. It's still far from perfect but it at least shows that if you force enough bad/illegal practices into the light big companies like Twitch have to take action to cover their own asses.
Sports betting is the bigger issue. Can't ban one and then leave the other around idk. Also Technically Stake is still allowed because of the stupid wording they used. Since it IS licenced in the US as of this year.
According to adin Ross yesterday he lost a 100 million dollar deal meaning he was getting paid about 8-10 million dollars a month which adds up if you consider his bets and bet size.
I'll be honest I never understood the appeal of slots. You're essentially flushing your own hard earned money down the drain while watching a random number generator output a bunch of random numbers. Some of the numbers make you win but most make you lose. You know this before you even sit down. What exactly is the appeal of this? That you might, against the odds, temporarily win some money before inevitably losing it again? I just don't get it at least something like blackjack gives you the illusion of control over the outcome (though obviously you will lose there as well)
this is great, i picture they will just promote this stuff more on discord instead to say in my eyes. I hope Discord enforce more of this too if not already. I find it disturbing, most of these people are 8-24, kids, highly influenced by these tactics and become gambling addicts. Scary stuff. I reckon the real wins would be if politically the crypto gambling companies that get their licenses overseas get further enforced if that changes in the country they get their license. Pretty sure in Australia the biggest home purchase in history of 80MIL was by one of the founders of one of these crypto gambling sites. Shows how much money is involved here to say the least.
My guess would be that if they would allow it to continue it could turn twitch into an 18+ service, plus since you can watch gambling and even do oz yourself with the help of twitch that they then probably need a gambling license in every nation where they allow acces to the site
They didn't actually ban gambling though lol just a few unregulated sites that operate outside the USA.... Twitch has billion dollar connections to draftkings and the NFL so yeah that's a much larger audience than a trainwrecks or Adin Ross stream don't you think?
Since the start of 2022, we have been in a recession, but major media outlets and governments around the world refused to acknowledge it. We must exercise wisdom and intelligence. Since knowledge is power, I want the entire family to be strong! I recently bought some AMCZ3. We appreciate you keeping us informed during these uncertain times.
just to clarify: If the casino has a licence in the US or in a strong jurisdiction (like France or Germany) you can actually keep streaming slots. Stake has a Curacao licence, it is illegal from the day he was born.
@@pyroandi6797 the other ones were licensed as well. Just not on the standard place. Also liking it or not doesn’t matter. I didn’t watch any gambling stream and nor do I gamble. Still shouldn’t be banned
What about other jurisdictions? Gambling is banned here but we're quite a long way from Belgium unless the platform voluntarily explicitly considers something gambling, so if they say "ok this is us sanctioned gambling" and "well this is unsanctioned gambling", they could just go and "thanks US of A this is all gambling, we have a laundry list of influencers we couldn't influence until now!"
I actually enjoy watching the gambling streams sometimes and don't gamble myself. Kinda live vicariously though them. Any streamer I watched was always forward with the fact that big wins out of context don't represent the reality of gambling
It doesn't really matter what they say if they play slots or roulette, the viewer can still get the gamblers high and the itch, which is the whole point of paying them to promo. More nefarious methods include making the odds different for the promo player.
I’ve been in discords with people under 18 that have gambled illegally using vpns/crypto on the platforms they saw streamers advertise and all of them lost money. Its absolutely an issue its just that those pos streamers dont care. Adin Ross & Co all of them heavily promoted gambling to their clearly underage viewers knowing it would mess them up
Banning Gambling does nothing. You left out that Slicker was addicted to sports betting - not online slots. Useless ban and anyone that agrees with the ban is stupid.
@@Tristan-42069 They banned streaming they didn't ban playing you dumb fuck If I was an addict I would be gambling rn just like I would have been before the Twitch ban
I work for casino streamers, I'm happy to see the crackdown on this industry. Too many people are playing with fake money and showing unrealistic returns. I've always refused to do work for anyone playing with fake money, and I've burned relationships with people who get into it. There are tons of US sites that are still legal. The only thing changing here is going to be what sites we see.
Am i reading this wrong ? It doesn't say it's banning gambling, only gambling sites that aren't licensed in the u.s or certain other jurisdictions.

@@griffen5748 if you actually believe that then I think you need a break from the internet
@@griffen5748 "Slots didn't cause problems" is an extremely daft and demonstrably untrue statement

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great, but it's calculated - it's not the same way that a human might try to do better after making a mistake.
in australia we call 'slots' a 'brickies laptop' and have top 10 charting songs about destroying them with explosives
Twitch should have done this YEARS ago
Will twitch make more steps in the right direction? doubt it but we can hope. keep it up coffeezilla #pumpthestock! lol
I am still confused how Twitch isn't getting a standard 18+ rating. Can't touch the mainpage without seeing a good abudance of internet thots (Girls that use their sexual features to exploit children into buying them subs etc )
I came to the channel from the roobet series, so this does feel a bit like a win. Your content is A+.
I thought I knew twitch, people streaming themselves playing games. I recently learned on here that twitch gambling was a thing and a eyebrow was raised, how oddly insane it sounds.
Wait to hear about the borderline softcore porn that they allow on their platform
Twitch's two biggest money makers are "Just Chatting", which is basically just Chaturbate Lite, and Gambling. It's insane.
I am pretty hardline on gambling but I get why it took a lot to move the needle.
ban bathtub esq streams belong on a camsite. work out the gambling ban policy and i WILL BE SO HAPPY.
the speed at which casino games allows someone to lose money is insane. fantasy sports or poker, you can lose large amounts of money but you can't lose huge sums in only minutes. unless you're adam sandler in uncut gems.
That’s awful, I hope you’re doing better now
@@MaryamMaqdisi thank you :) doctors and counciling has helped
My goal atm is to raise awareness to any others, past, present or future that if twitch staff did sa, there is an open case in San Diego they can report, no paperwork as I've already done it
I mentioned this on Twitter, but I think that the reason why sports betting and fantasy sports are being omitted is due to their agreement with the NFL and their sponsors. I don't think they would risk having a massive agreement like that run afoul of ToS. But that's just a theory of mine
That this came out WHILE XQC and Hasan were debating the topic with 200k viewers on THEIR streams plus everyone else watching... feels significant.
As always, Coffee is to the point without bs! Keep it coming, man))
People actually spent time watching others play online slots? Watching randomized outcomes that don't require skill is not my idea of entertainment.
They are children, who can't play slots that's why and that's why these affiliate codes are bad, as some of those kids will illegally play them. After being encouraged by people they look up to
Children. Twitch is a disgusting company
And actually believing they were using their own money on those bets and not given to them by their undisclosed sponsor… 😂😂😂
Slots drew a lot of attention due to the fact streamers like Trainwreckz, xQc, etc started doing 10k+ spins & won big.
You sound broke.
I wish coffeezilla had an alter-ego that exposed all these “get fit quick” gurus
Rest in peace XQC
0:46 this guy understands more how the inner workings of twitch modding works that twitch themselves
Add Twitch gambling to wall of shame?
Wish I could spend some time chatting with this guy, such a great speaker.
As a new investor in Zilla I'm really pleased to see this. It's still far from perfect but it at least shows that if you force enough bad/illegal practices into the light big companies like Twitch have to take action to cover their own asses.
Can't believe it's been so long after Coffee and Muda did their coverage
Glad they did it but how did it take them so long
We need a CZ investigation of RUclips and how much they make from scammer advertising.
There seems to be more of that than anything else these days.
Coffee you deserve all the success and admiration for all your time and hard work!
Fair enough but your comment contributes nothing whatsoever to anyone, she are wasted electricity. You could have sent an email at the absolute most
This is good, because most streamers sponsored by these sites had rigged odds on these games
Sports betting is the bigger issue. Can't ban one and then leave the other around idk. Also Technically Stake is still allowed because of the stupid wording they used. Since it IS licenced in the US as of this year.
The recently-launched US site is a *social* casino - people buy play chips with no cash value. That's not a licensed casino.
I mean they can ban it regardless.
In the UK gambling ads have to state 'Please gamble responsibly' 🤣
I'm just as surprised that they did ban gambling but I am so happy they did.
We so appreciate the good work you do!
just to clarify: If the casino has a licence in the US or in a strong jurisdiction (like France or Germany) you can actually keep streaming slots. Stake has a Curacao licence, it is illegal from the day he was born.
Instead of moderating the content for adult audiences... nah that would take actual effort. Lets just ban it.
Gambling on licensed casinos wont be banned, who likes watching 1000 euro sponsored money spins anyway lol
@@pyroandi6797 the other ones were licensed as well. Just not on the standard place. Also liking it or not doesn’t matter. I didn’t watch any gambling stream and nor do I gamble. Still shouldn’t be banned
Imagine if streams of DND groups get banned because the game involves dice.

How to end addiction? NO more Sponsorships would show people losing real money risking their own bank accounts like all the people they got hooked on
They're not banning gambling, just sites that aren't licensed in the US. So it's just a tiny plaster stuck over a stab wound essentially

What about other jurisdictions? Gambling is banned here but we're quite a long way from Belgium unless the platform voluntarily explicitly considers something gambling, so if they say "ok this is us sanctioned gambling" and "well this is unsanctioned gambling", they could just go and "thanks US of A this is all gambling, we have a laundry list of influencers we couldn't influence until now!"
they are banning dice, roulette etc etc etc the main offenders also so ya they kinda are but at the same time they havent
This is a big W, thanks for the update coffee

Thanks Coffee! Love this coverage.
go coffeezilla
early exposing contrapreneurs era coffeezilla was best coffeezilla
Twitch likely wants a cut of this, this much money can't be changing hands over their platform without getting a taste.
I bought in after the roobets saga but it was the roobets saga that got me addicted to coffeezilla! Glad to see twitch doing a teeny bit
I think RUclips should ban Coffeezilla since you've become addicted to his content.
Congrats on the W
It's more like a V. Half a W, at best. Really though, it's more of a \, once you read all the fine print.
It's not helping anyone. Dumbest decision of all time. Slicker was addicted to sports betting, not slots.
Hahaha my stocks never felt higher. Love ya buddy keep it up
I'm sorry, you watch a streamer play slots? So you sit there, watch him push a button, loose money the company gave him and then sub to that streamer.
No way it’s been a year ? Love your content
W
More drama than a Spanish soap opera, queues up a scene from a Brazilian soap opera. Nailed it haha
I actually enjoy watching the gambling streams sometimes and don't gamble myself. Kinda live vicariously though them. Any streamer I watched was always forward with the fact that big wins out of context don't represent the reality of gambling
Aww shit, is this another "drawn CP pacifying pedos" situation?

@@Tristan-42069 what? He brought up a good point tho? This ban doesn't even address the problems.

I don't think it's people "that agree with the ban" who are the stupid ones, here.
@@Loctorak to run defense, he's probably saying people who think this ban are good are uninformed, not stupid.
As a former casino employee an in person casino is from the build to the lay out made to keep you in there
