  • NOAA Fisheries manages more than 165 marine species listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act. The goal is to help these species recover to the point where they can be taken off the endangered species list. That’s why, in 2015, we created the Species in the Spotlight initiative. It’s a way for us to focus our time, energy, and resources on these at-risk species and bring greater attention to their plight. Our goal is to focus our recovery actions and motivate partners and community members to work with us on these actions to turn this situation around. For each species, we have developed action plans that outline short-term efforts to stop their decline and prevent their extinction.
Each of these species is an important part of the habitat, the ecosystem, and the world we all share. Bringing them back will make our world richer and more balanced. Through the continued dedication of NOAA and its partners, we can all help these species recover.

Eastern Pacific Basking Sharks are most endangered species of large shark in the Pacific, Basking Sharks need protected species status in the Eastern Pacific and NMFS/NOAA should recognize the Eastern Pacific Basking shark's endangered species status and respond as Canada has. IUCN also considers basking sharks to be endangered. Please protect basking sharks NMFS/NOAA et al. Whats the hold up !?

NOAA does amazing work but it takes all of us to protect our planet and to help keep the marine species healthy for our grandchildren. I hope to take my grandson’s to see whales breaching in the ocean one day.

I respect that the animal community is being cared for, they are being g protected , while the black mand woman and our children are being sacrificed, murdered crucified, being hang by stop in the back unnecessarily and yet there's no concern for fellow human being. My father who is in heaven has no choice but to come and destroy this world because his people are being destroyed. Praise God, I worship you I honor you glorify you and magnify your holy name you are Lord of lords King of Kings I worship you and I thank you.

Stop playing out the "black card" everytime!! We here in Europe are doing what we can!! Is it really nesessary to jump into a wildlife channel and spread your hate?? Which countrie's are you talking about?? And do not tell me it is the whole world, because that is a lie!! In Australia fir example Native's , mixex people and white people are working together and there is no rassism and we don't have it in Europe, too.
You want to destroy the world?? You Psychopat's!! That is why so many black people hate you!!

If only you cared about sharks as much as you care about other species. Shark fishing should be banned. For ALL species of sharks. Yet you continue to allow it because the fishing industry somehow makes you money even though ecotourism boosts local economies and makes a ton more money than fishing does.
