- This video documents the intense efforts to disentangle an endangered North Atlantic right whale from commercial fishing gear off Cumberland Island. The whale was dragging more than 450 feet of rope and a 135-pound trap/pot used in certain cold-water fisheries. The rescue involved highly trained and authorized staff from Georgia DNR, NOAA, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Sea to Shore Alliance. Entanglement in commercial fishing gear is one of the leading threats to this imperiled species. More than 80 percent of North Atlantic right whales have scars from previous entanglements.

Fantastic work!!!! GOD is smiling at you all!!!!
what planet are these ppl on? some kind of ocean world? and it must be pretty small, look at that curvature!
This is such a beautiful view to see humans chasing a whale in a boat, handling a stick, just like in the old days whalers did but there's no harpoon at the end of the stick, and that is beautiful...
love what you guys are doing, much respect to you and many thanks for helping that whale!!!
That is a Canadian snow crab trap btw

Heroes!
Thanks for your efforts. We as human's need to stop destroying our oceans and land. And reduce the production of plastics.
This is exactly why I'm vegan. If people didn't eat fish, then this wouldn't happen. So pathetic.
I was vegan for this very reason! Now studies are coming out that plants can feel pain too! So, I only eat peanuts now, but I'm still a huge advocate for not eating meat. I'm also a huge activist for capturing carnivorous animals and trying to re train them to only eat peanuts as well. I'm a big proponent/representative of the gazelle population and right now lions are wreaking havoc on their population numbers. I'm afraid that one day they may go extinct. This is something that has been happening for thousands of years. Even before human influence! This isn't just a problem with the Lions either. There are Tigers, Cheetahs, Hyenas, Cougars, Foxes, Mountain Lions, Coyotes, Hawks, Polar Bears, Crocodiles, Eagles and Wolves! If they didn't eat meat then this wouldn't happen. There are so many more examples. So please consider joining AWSBCBIKA organization and help us convert all meat eaters into peanut loving fanatics on our beautiful blue jewel of a world! Here is the plant article! This is new to science, so there isn't a ton of research yet, but soon there will be!

I used to be a vegan but I found out that plants feel pain too! Now I just eat rocks and dust but I just learned that they feel pain too! Now I'm dead because of malnutrition but thank god my conscious is eased.
narlycharley No one eats...whales...it's just not common. It's rare for someone to consume whale meat because it's mainly fat. I don't understand how if people didn't eat fish this wouldn't happen. Explain.

Hey, just wanted to apologize for how much hate your comment is getting. Idk why but people somehow manage to take offence when people mention they are Vegan or Vegetarian. We are just trying to make the environment and ourselves healthier so I don't understand what is wrong with it. Still, people love to rain on others parade and so we end up getting hate simply because we like animals. Again, I'm sorry the world is full of such salty people.
Wanna do something about it put restrictions on ships too route them away from the whales...and force Canadian fishermen too implement whales safe practices/laws just like Maine fishermen have...we have a perfect track record n because other countries don't do there part we get the blame...none of us Maine fishermen wanna hurt whales that's y we've worked so hard not too and have bin 100% successful please don't let ship strikes and foreign countries destroying the greatest most productive and most sustainable fishery in the world or this beautiful creature we can co exist and we both need savings
That poor beautiful whale having to carry all that human crap attached to it.
