Saving a Humpback Whale: A Disentanglement Tale

Monday, July 27th began a 4-day effort by trained responders to disentangle a humpback whale from submerged fishing gear near New York City. Multiple partners brought expertise and large boats to haul the heavy gear up and free the whale.

It’s nice and I am grateful that there are people who put their time, effort and resources to help such marine animals. But a happy ending episode like this one must be relatively rare and probably most of the unlucky animals must be dying in their hundreds every day, elsewhere unknown to us 😞 I wish our human activity could cause less harm to the world .... Anyway thanks for the effort and please continue with the great work.

So many animals harmed by fishing gear its sad. There has to be a better way to do this thing we humans call life. Thank you for helping the whale! You all are amazing.
