Vampire Survivors is really fun game for just $3. I watched ProtonJon play it, then got addicted to it myself, then caught Mike’s stream of it. Good times.
@@mikematei I just played around with some of the new content. They added another stage and weapon. Now at 47/56 achievements (I haven’t done the more hardcore character stuff) and the game feels like it has a ways to go. Early Access can be a really fun experience sometimes, just playing along as a game grows.
Yea it's really great. I turned off all voices and set text to fastest, so I enjoyed the pacing of the story! Kind of a bummer to have to make those setting choices but it was the way to go.
Exactly. Also some of the sub items aren't really all that useful, for example Pummarola should be upgraded only at the very end, after you've already maxed out everything else.
I have to agree with Ryan on FFT. It being one of my favorite games of all time. I remember when FFT came out and after I had beaten the game so many times, I was always trying to chase that high after that with games like Kartia, tactics ogre, etc. It was never the same thrill of FFT.
Traingle strategy’s story picks up quite a bit right after where the demo leaves off. Hope it turns around for you, Ryan. I’m absolutely loving everything about this game! It’s all I think about when I’m not playing it.
I actually really enjoy Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, I love the rules ideas with judges, makes the challenge more prominent and the perma-death areas were high risk, high reward, which I enjoyed as well !
The part in the theme song that says "Like Star Trek", originally I was thinking it said "Life's on track, it's a blast, our gaming podcast!" I like to keep singing to myself what I originally thought. Because life feels back on track when I get to this podcast :)
Ryan, Octopath Traveler does not use the ATB system from Final Fantasy because time stops between turns. With the ATB, enemies will act before you do if you spend too long selecting your next action.
@@magdabrownis265 In that case though, it only stops once you select either normal attacks, magic or items. Then it waits until you completed your selection.
Risk of Rain: 2 reminds me of Vampire Survivors so much. It's a lot more difficult since you have to really dodge and aim but the genre is so satisfying.
ror1 is difficult because core design is borked ror2 is all about build like gettin 99 bears 10 daggers 10 glasses etc etc going for rocket storm or fireapocalyps or bfg machinegun builds. some people even build procs of nailgun or use basic skills for some reason the problem is that runs take like 4-5 hours
Shining force 2 is one of my top 5 games of all time. I prefer its job/ level system vs FFT. Makes your party characters more unique. In FFT everyone is too much the same.
Vampire Survivors devs are always doing updates, it's early access, just check back every couple of weeks to see. I love it, I've unlocked everything, yet I still like trying out different builds. One thing I wish they'd add is multiple save files, like maybe I wanna start from scratch again.
Robotron and Smash TV use the same Wico 8-way joystick. If you like the controls in Robotron, you should have no problems with Smash TV. It's basically identical.
I really loved Octopath Traveler, and I really enjoyed the new Fire Emblem Three Houses game. I figure that based on that, I'll really enjoy Triangle Strategy.
28:21 holy shit, a mention of In the Groove, the 2004 dance game. I know you guys know your shit but I'm still surprised you know about it. It's the best Dance Dance Revolution clone out there.
I remember when buying Final Fantasy Tactics when it first came out the guy behind the counter was dumb he asked if I was sure if I wanted it because he heard it was just tactics on how to play FF7. LoL
I was playing Vampire Survivors for awhile and trying to one hundred percent it, but then it got really popular and kept being updated so more achievements would be added. I still haven’t completed it.
I just want a ff tactics type game but set in raccoon city where you could play different stories like the police or a group of umbrella soldiers doing stuff like in operation raccoon city or as the UBCS but all the stories would intertwine.
On the topic of the story of Triangle Strategy: THAT is why I don't like most Square games. I love stories like in Earthbound or Fallout, but this convoluted and medieval crap just bored me so... So much. I just know if it's Square then I'll never get into it. The only Square game I really loved was Chrono Trigger. More companies need to be more original with stories and made them simple and straightforward.
Im with Ryan, i LOVED FFTactics. I feel like i should play Triangle Strategy. But I cant stand all the bullshit inbetween. Not going to waste my time. It's a shame because i want to support the niche genre.

I think it just came out with an update. Its fun glad you are enjoying it too

Been loving Triangle Strategy so much. Despite an uninspired game title, it’s really good

In vampire survivors, to upgrade the weapon, you don’t need to max out the item that goes with it. Only the weapon needs to go to level 8.

Mike has three legs like ToeJam

Mike and Ryan = AWSOME
I am in awe

Unless it’s set to wait

I just bought that because it was half price. I think it might grab me more than the first one.

How come this episode isn't up on the podcast feed?
40:35 The story is like the plot! Wow.
Where else can you get such hard hitting descriptions about story structure?

Keep up the great work guys!
So I've been getting way more notifications about new episodes than notifications about my comments. We need to work on that. Yes "We".
What transformers game are you talking about? Transformers in the style of final fantasy tactics sounds awesome!
Robotron and Smash TV use the same Wico 8-way joystick. If you like the controls in Robotron, you should have no problems with Smash TV. It's basically identical.
Is there a way to listen Patreon extra episodes only as a podcast? Basically with your mobile when the screen is shut down?
Hey guys, no audio only version this time?
The Triangle Tactics Demo has a level cap of 5. No real over leveling there.
Agreed with the grey/brown color scheme. Octopath Traveler looks amazing but it could look so much better if there was a more varied color scheme.
Lyrics for the theme song please

LIKE STAR TREK🎵
IT'S A BLAST🎶
OUR GAMING PODCAST 🤟😤🤟
If you tried to make the theme song nostalgic, I think you nailed it.
They talked about how they wanted it to sound like an old sitcom theme
LiveAlive is amazing, I played the fan made English rom.
First game reminds me of Gauntlet
I remember when buying Final Fantasy Tactics when it first came out the guy behind the counter was dumb he asked if I was sure if I wanted it because he heard it was just tactics on how to play FF7. LoL

If you like FF Tactis you should play Tactis Ogre on PSP.. it's from the same team!
What happened to the patreon
Holy sweet flying fritters im excited for this one.
Don't forget final fantasy 12 and vagrant stories existed in the tactics world also.
I've been playing vampire survivors. it's pretty good for what it is.
have you guys done sky rogue yet? the co-op is great
did mike ever get around to playing cuphead? if not i highly suggest it for him. i think it's be right up his alley.
10/10 title song
Good reviews.
Gamefakkz, perhaps? Thank you for the video!
I didn't even know Gamefaqs was still a thing but I used to pronounce it facks and not eff ay cue even though they technically were FAQs.
Just the faqs, mam.
i always read that as fuck or fuckyou
I haven’t finished the video yet but Mike have you ever played the binding of Isaac?
42:23 you gotta watch longer
Just wrote a metal song called "Attractorb" 🤘
mandatory comment to appease the mighty algorithm
Live a life was a legit game on the snes I played a translated hack it’s good fun
GO RICKY! GO RICKY! GO RICKY! GO RICKY!
Wow, 26000 people i want nothing to do with. Life is beautiful:
My game is the game called go insane. Is everybody... in
ogre tactics let us cling together
25:00 I prefer "Game Fax."
I still can't beat General Sturm in Advance Wars! 😭
Always said it Game F. A. Q.s and people thought I was weird
the theme is crack. feels good to listen to.
It's Game-facks, to me.
I say it as 'Gamefacks' but Mike is right, we're all gonna die anyway.
exactly. who gives a shit

"It looks like a browser game."
Please lower the volume for your intro and outro, it's very inconsistent with the volume of the podcast itself. 💪
i think that there should be a game called rectangle strategy
Nothing beat a good game fack in the day
I always thought it was game fa-qs pronounced "fah queues."
Ryan, make the game you want to play.
Who else is pumped for too many games spring game swap?
A little toot a roots.
Ryan you should check out Fell Seal: Arbiters Mark it a indie game like FFTactics
I got stuck on that game when you fight Wiegraf in the castle lol, had to restart and learned to make 2 separate save files.
7:25
It's "Game-Facks".
Mike likes atari&elvis.
Ts is a great game lol
Im with Ryan, i LOVED FFTactics. I feel like i should play Triangle Strategy. But I cant stand all the bullshit inbetween. Not going to waste my time. It's a shame because i want to support the niche genre.
Say it like gamefacts
So basically the presentation is dry, that's what the last twenty minutes are all about.
Ryan is so high
GameFACKS!
Definitely gamefacts
I usually call it “facks”
Game fax
Bad news about Advance Wars.
Ohhh Vampire Survivors, not Vampire Saviors
It’s pronounced like “Game Facts”
I cancelled TS because of the dialogs, looked like a good game, but I'd rather read a book
vampire survivors is too addicting
Justin is correct that Triangle Strategy is for a certain kind of person. This guy.
👍🤪👍
how's that "strategy" if it can't count even as "tactics"?
there are no buildings and resource gathering
it's the most basic turn based party rpg
I skip pretty much all of the dialogue in every game I play lol.
Game Eff Ay Cues. Get outta here with GameFax. You sending a fax on a fax machine?
Play: Project Zomboid.
No time to watch, I refuse
5:40
Please call it gamefaqs, or else
Octopath did the same thing, great game, awesome gameplay, WAY to much story. Halfway through Octo I had to start Skipping story.
