Can you make a video on how to sing only vowels when learning a new song? I still don’t understand
Sure! Can you elaborate a little on what is still confusing so I can make sure I make what you're looking for? :)
@@katecosettevocals I have been practicing all day on singing with more of a rounded shape instead of spreading my lips, more “o” shaped and you said to practice a song on all just one vowel to see how it feels to keep everything open continuously and I don’t understand how to do that.
But after watching hundreds of videos on YT, I can attest that your videos are pure gold! You have so much knowledge to share!
Thanks so much, I’m so happy I can help! :)
For how to practice vowels over a song, all you want to do is choose 1 vowel (such as “O”) and do “O” over the whole melody of the song. So, it’s the same idea as if someone told you to hum over a song. Instead of humming, you’re just singing on “O”.
Here’s a brief example in my other vowels video, you can fast forward to 7:15 in that video for the example! ruclips.net/video/JCgwjBmlHjc/видео.htmlsi=-2yaf_U0h4bb51Gd
Essentially you’re just holding the vowel shape, and following the melody pitch-wise. So you’re singing the song, just not with the words, and instead with the vowel sound. As a warm up I do this with all 5 vowels- I’ll choose one vowel and hold that shape over the whole song (so if I choose to sing “Ah” over happy birthday, it’d be “ah-ah ah-ah ah-ah”. But as I explain in that other video, you don’t have to make it sound so robotic.
I also suggest in the very beginning to do this using that trick with your hands to hold your face in that fish face kind of position-it’ll allow you to spend less time thinking about the shape and more time practicing it. :)
I have been working on a video to show what my vocal warm up is, so I will be including a longer example of this too! so if this doesn’t help, keep an eye out for that one! :)
@@katecosettevocals this helps so much! As well has holding our cheeks in because it definitely does not feel natural and my lips spread when I do an e vowel for sure. I can’t wait to see your warm up video!!!!!
