    This is the BEST explanation I've ever heard with respect to singing! This is the most accurate educational lesson on breathing. It's so much easier to understand than, "Don't sing from your throat. Sing from your stomach."

    This 100%! I spend a lot of time with students explaining this very thing. Our vocal folds are like strings on a guitar - but instead of a finger vibrating them, the air does. And each frequencey (note) of vibration needs a certain amount of pressure to vibrate freely. The diaphragm is the nozzle, if it doesn't do its job, the throat will be the emergency dam and mess with our sound and be uncomfortable.

I'll use your suggestions and hopefully my vocal cords stop hurting and I regain high and low vocals. I'm also sipping and gargling with a ginger, turmeric and honey mixture. I would guess this is part of my problem. I also think of this analogy for ergonomic lifting. They say don't just lift something with your arms and back. Use your legs to take pressure off your back. I know when I sing I am only using about 40% of what I am supposed to. Meaning I am not using nasal passages, throat, diaphragm, etc to their fullest ability. Karen, I am still trying to absorb all your wonderful information. Thanks!

      Nice to have your perspective this evening. My ear training occurred naturally as I sang with my parents in church. And as a kid I learned by ear always walked around the house singing along with radio and my ability to sing on pitch became very sharp ( also learned the drums by ear and then formed a group) My forte was soul music I didn't pursue voice lessons until much later. Now understanding that appoggio in absolutely essential sing the repertoire I love to perform. Jams with a fat sound and higher compass. OK, young lady I will stop now@@KClayMusic

    Wow, a constriction in a pipe will reduce the pressure energy of the fluid going through it, and increase the kinetic energy, it will flow faster with less pressure, the gas having to go though a narrowing at the same litres per min will speed up , increasing kinetic energy but decreasing pressure energy. Any ways that what they taught me but I am sure you are right about singing. If you dont believe me hold 2 A4 pieces of paper by the short side with the long sides dangling down and very close together. Blow in between them to blow them apart. You won't do it, theyll move close together. Venturi effect. I still liked and subscribed.

    • @KClayMusic
      @KClayMusic  7 месяцев назад +2

      This is really cool. In singing, we call the minimum pressure of air needed for the vocal folds to vibrate PTP. (Phonation threshold pressure). So if you went producing that pressure, you won’t be able to make noise. It changes at each pitch as the vocal folds are a muscle and change shape and size to make different pitches.
      There is a category of vocal exercises called SOVT (semi-occluded vocal tract) exercises. They include a blockage of the vocal tract usually at the oral level, which creates back pressure. The back pressure helps the vocal folds function easier as they balance out the extra pressure singers usually apply from below the folds.
      The alignments between the two are awesome!

      Singing into the high range is all about ditching tension, and reducing air pressure. (Try stretching and moving around- swaying etc- when you sing. Also, pull back on volume without losing the “chest voice” qualities. The more relaxed you can be the better.

    KClay in my opinion it would be awesome going to a library and chatting with a librarian to know about their opinion to compare a book 📕 📖 📚 to a studio album 💿 example the outsiders I would use it as a example for a book 📕 📖 📚 or any book 📕 📖 I would use for example like Harry Potter and the scorcher’s stone. And compare it with a studio album 💿 example Vertical Horizon Everything You Want it has 11 chapters and the total 🟰 duration is about 45:45 my opinion is In my opinion the number is a chapter which means a main division of a book, typically with a number or title while the song title is a song title more of chapter 1 leaning towards book 📕 📖 📚. For me as a listener studio album 💿 and book 📖 📕 are the same. Because both books and studio albums have a song title and a number right next to it which is book 📕 📖 📚 and chapter. It dosen’t matter how you say it if an album total 🟰 duration is about 29:25 and it has about 10 chapters it would considered a mini book 📕 📖 📚 but an album that has 8 chapters and the total 🟰 duration is about 49:37 it would consider as a full book 📖 📕 📚 to me it dosen’t matter how long or short the albums are but in my preference albums are books 📖 📚 📕. It is a cohesive collection of songs used to tell a bigger theme or project an overall vibe. Think of an album as a book. And your songs as chapters.
    Every book has chapters. Every album has songs.
    Each chapter is different. Each song is different.
    But the collection of chapters (the collection of songs) is what tells the full story of the book (of the album) 💿. Usually the songs on an album are the result of an artist's creations during a season of life. This means the songs can all speak to a similar set of themes, ideas and topics. So the aim of an album name is to try and sum up the big story/concept that all the songs pull from when they were written. It's not always like these, especially today. But traditionally, an album is like a "book" with the songs inside being like "chapters." chapters in a book yes taking taking the different song sections and compiling them building out a story is like a mini book with different chapters and uh adding in those details to make the song really shine . Chapters of the book are very detailed and some people say instead of track one they say chapter one yeah 👍. so with the different uh uh the analogy to storytelling is is
    maybe not even an analogy it might even be like exactly the same because the song lyrics are in essence telling a
    story um other people who said the music of the words uh or the music of the words then
    the Rhythm then the bass then the basic Baseline Melody then tweak the words then detail of the melody harmonies then
    transitions then tweak the harmonies then recycle ♻. And ask the librarian her own opinion about it and ask the librarian is it a big cd case or small cd case. And I hope you would do a RUclips video on it and spread the word that would be awesome 😎.
