Someone else mentioned how satisfying this was to watch and I agree! I love seeing how you and your husband make this garden your own. I love seeing how a garden can be beautified in many forms!!! Thanks for sharing Sydney. I enjoy your videos.
Ha! Did watch this all the way through. Popped off to next video so had to come back and let you know, that I am glad you take the time to show, that even gardens have to be cleaned out, weeded and taken care of just like our homes. Just look at all the "house cleaning" videos that are on you tube! Enjoy, all you and your Tommy are doing! ❤from GA!
I’ve been fighting with two dead rose bush roots! Thought I was the only one who could not get it done in one try. This is absolutely part of gardening. Please show more of this type of work to encourage the rest of us! Appreciate the video.
... I recall Linda commenting that she had a rose one time in that same area that succumbed to rose rosette which is deadly to a rose bush (and it's imperative to remove for the health of any others.) Maybe that's what you have this time around. 🤷🏼♀️👩🏼🌾💚 =^..^=
Wish we could push fast forward on weeding jobs in real life. Hahaha. Weeding is just one of those necessary chores, but once we start it, it's a very satisfying task to complete. Beautiful results!
The raised garden bed area looks fantastic all weeded up and new gravel. I've always loved your raised beds that you and Tommy built. Those will last you a long, long time - and the design in that area is very pleasing to one's eye. Thanks for sharing!
Great video Sydney, removing that rose was spot on. I love all your ideas for the transformation of this yard into your and Tommy’s vision but can we just take a hot minute for that hat and shades! Wowzers.... fantastic!😎🇨🇦
You are a real go-getter, Sydney. I love how the garden is looking and moving to fill in and starting new where it's empty. Fresh new look. I make people tired just telling them what I do in a day. Happy Gardening !
Sydney, you are doing such a fantastic job of taming that hot mess of a garden that you inherited. Everything is so overgrown with no rhyme or reason to it. Your plans seem very practical and more maintenance free. Can’t wait to see how you tackle that messy side fence back garden next to the raised beds. Please take it easy in that awful heat. Stay safe and stay hydrated.
Sydney, I pull the weeds in my flower beds by hand but weeds in pathways, between bricks and stones get a dose of boiling water from my electric tea kettle. They and their seeds die a quick death and the area remains sterile for quite awhile.
Actually, the prior garden did have a rhyme and reason to it and was featured in several gardening magazines. The previous owner spent over 30 years working on that garden. Although it may not be to your taste, it was planned. Sydney now owns the home and garden and has a vision that is "different" than the previous owner. People have different style preferences, and that's fine. Both Sydney and the previous owner share a love of gardening and are actually friends.
How rude of you to call the garden a hot mess! Linda did a wonderful job and worked on it from scratch for 30 years. Now Sydney is changing it because she has a different style.
I enjoy all your videos. This one is so motivating. I am glad you stopped when you were hot and tired, even though I didn’t want it to end. I hope you do more like this.
Looks so tidy. You two do great job. I read to kill Virginia Creeper you need to cut all trunks then put stump killer on them. You probably knew that. Have nice week. We’re getting storms in Cincinnati!
I enjoy watching maintenance YT videos because they also help me get motivated. It's so satisfying when things looked nicely groomed. The sounds of my neighbor's working on their yards also helps me🙂🙂
Thank you Sydney for sharing your beautiful garden and life with your subscribers! I look forward to your videos and love all of your personal touches in the garden and your new home. Also, I love the wallpaper and the soapstone counter top and backsplash. Love seeing your Mom’s foster kittens top. Sending you big hugs and much love from Tennessee.
All tidy now. Raised bed area looks really good. Yes it is hot and the humidity is at least 10,000% here in DFW. It's time for iced tea and a shower. Thanks Sydney.
Lol. It has been my experience "just gardening maintenance " is a critically important aspect of beautiful, healthy gardens. To share the good, the bad, the tedious, the disappointing, ...the whole of gardening, is very valuable to we viewers who also experience the highs and lows of gardening. ❤
Maintaining brings about your visions of the creation you eventually obtain. It was interesting that you are able to accomplish the scripted tasks but also those that need to be done upon your notice. It will all be spectacular when you have brought it there.
Wish I could loan you my tree spade for that last dig. Vey good cleaning your tools before moving on. You include good management practices to help us all. Thank you. linda from NE
Sydney, I would take that boxwood, cut it back by a third or half and soak it for about an hour then put it in a nursery pot and see if you can revive it. I uprooted 14 y/o boxwoods and cut them down to 12 inches and they all survived. ??? You never know.
It doesn’t seem like Linda has a driveway anymore, so maybe no use for a gate. She has an alley and a garage. Probably has to share the alley with neighbors
I love the working videos. I always have weeds that need to be pulled and you definitely give me inspiration to keep at it. The garden looks like it is coming into your vision. I this it is getting more beautiful every video. A lot of videos only show the end product and not the work that goes into it. Than you so much for showing us and keeping us going in ours.
Weeding is such a big part of gardening--not fun but so satisfying when finished. I just finished our front bird bath garden this morning and it looks so good. Now I just need to get the mulch to make it look prettier.
Great maintenance video Sydney! You’ve inspired me to clean up some lower limbs on my crape myrtles and purple vitek. Theres always something to do. I wish I had your energy!
Hi Sydney You've done a marvellous job today. I think those roses behind the barberry have been smothered for space and light. But the roots look old and plants do reach an end and we have to let go. The potager looks lush. That metal gate would look lovely used as a trellis with a garden seat in front. Where i don't know. You may need a sit down after work in the raised beds in the future💕
The gardens are really looking great! Loving your style come together. I especially love the back window box and what you’ve planted under it. I have to say though that the hose reel just takes so much away from it. We have a HoseLink, which is similar to yours, can’t you put a short extender hose on the spicket and mount the reel off to the side or on a 4x4 post? Also, wouldn’t drag on your plantings. 🤷♀️
The area under the windowbox is really filling in nicely and love the color palette. The raised beds look so lush and healthy. You've really created so much beauty in a short period of time. I can empathize with the Virginia creeper. It seems to be invading everywhere in my yard. I enjoy garden maintenance videos.
Your weeding ethic. I've been watching, since Linda sold the house, but that made me subscribe. Definitely a gardener after my own heart. I use a small plastic bucket to collect my weeds and then dump them in compost pile and a small stool to sit on as I weed.
I'm a new subscriber, Sydney (my niece's name ❤). I'm in zone 8a/b, Georgia. I really enjoy your and your husband's gardening process. The cleaning, weeding, deadheading and "finishing" are very satisfying to watch. You are very calm and focused 👍🏻. I've watched your channel since you started, after moving. Love it all!
Sydney vs the rose bush… I was rooting for you so much! Digging things up is exhausting. I did that in my yard about 3 years ago. I got sciatica and trigger finger from the times I pounded the ground with my shovel, or maybe it was rocking trees to get them out of the ground. Anyway, be careful with your body.
Oh , I have never seen or heard about hemlock hats , interesting. I always wear a hat when I step outside, I give some much shade to my eyes. Things are really moving along in your landscape
Sydney I recently stumbled upon a weeding tool that works great on areas like stone pavers and gravel. It’s a small propane torch on a long handle designed for that specific purpose. My daughter has a large paver patio in Florida where the weeds grow like crazy and she loves not having to be on her hands and knees trying to pry them out of the tiny cracks anymore. It may be great solution for you.
Love Felco products! Wedding is the most tedious part of gardening. We have a silver maple tree that drops thousands and thousands of keys every spring. The tree has been here way longer than us. We decided to take care of it in spite of the added chore of cleaning gathering up all those darn keys. 🤪
Ce jardin est impeccable et c’est impressionnant la vitesse que ça pousse Sydney à la main verte de plus vous êtes très jolie vous ressemblez à ma petite fille aussi j’ai grand plaisir à voir vos vidéos 😊
Garden maintenance is necessary to obtain the look you are going for. I got to get out tomorrow and get some tall grass out of my creeping Jenny. Go inside relax, you deserve it!
Sydney, it looks like you may have Rose Rosette Disease on that particular rose bush. I'm just guessing since I've never had that on my roses. If that is the case, you are definitely doing the right thing by removing it. I hope you and Tommy have a great week.
Someone else mentioned how satisfying this was to watch and I agree! I love seeing how you and your husband make this garden your own. I love seeing how a garden can be beautified in many forms!!! Thanks for sharing Sydney. I enjoy your videos.

This was so satisfying to watch... seeing your garden evolve and transform before our eyes. Slow and steady Sydney, you're doing it!
Don't you wish weeding would actually go as quickly as the speeded up video? LOL You inspire me to get out in my garden and get some work done too.
I’ve been fighting with two dead rose bush roots! Thought I was the only one who could not get it done in one try. This is absolutely part of gardening. Please show more of this type of work to encourage the rest of us! Appreciate the video.
The energy you have is amazing , I become tired just watching .
Every once in awhile you have to call it a day….you did a great job!

Loved your hat and it shades the back of your neck. I ordered a Hemlock hat on sale and received today. Thanks for the tip.
Love those little roses…..in pots!
Girl!! You look so glamorous in your hat and shades! I always look like a sweaty, dirty mess when I work in my garden! 😂
Don’t let it fool you! I was covered in dirt, sweaty and a total mess during that entire video! 🤣
@@SydneyDorman well, you didn't look it!

Your yard is really shaping up, enjoying the transformation. Wish I had half your energy!
Your gardens are coming along beautifully. So much work. Take it easy in the heat. Have a great day.

Oh bless you….I felt tired just watching you! You’ve got to pace yourself but it’s hard to do when you have limited time eh?! 💚🧡
I’m enjoying your journey with the house and the garden you have done a phenomenal job on both…
Garden maintenance is so satisfying to watch.
I have a Hemlock hat too and i love it! They are well made, large, and have the tie.
I’m seeing these hemlock hats everywhere now. I think I need one.
Love your hat. You have beautiful skin… take good care of it.
Love watching garden maintenance! I was looking forward to seeing how you pruned the barberry. Maybe next time!

I believe you're dealing with rose rosette. Linda mentioned that one time, but she loved the rose so she left it and dealt with it as best she could.
