I have an older home which we moved into 35 years ago, and I’ve been ripping out things as well, some things I even planted, and those areas look refreshed and much more tidy. I had a lot of perennials that didn’t even bloom anymore and some shrubs just have an expiration date where they just don’t look nice anymore. With global temps rising, I’m choosing more xeriscape choices. Your front landscape looks very neat and tidy for now, and I’m excited to see your own design evolve. 🌿🌿🌿

What a treat to see the beginning of the renewing of this front garden. I loved seeing the processing and really appreciated seeing the bones of the previous garden. It did have really good bones for what had been there.

100% agree! The bones are great but it was just time for a revamp! Thank you for the kind words and thanks for tuning in!

Never thought I would say this, but to me (a Virginian), it looks more sophisticated and stately. Paring the gardens down has allowed the beauty of the house and its architecture, to be the focal point. In the gorgeous old homes of Virginia, and I have seen and toured many, it’s all business in the front and a bit more party in the back! Wow, it looks so calming! Love it, Sydney!

Business and groomed in the front, party more flowing in the back! That is what we are going for! The view of the house has always been our goal and that’s why we took out the holly that was by the front door a couple of months ago! I also love the retaining wall. It needs some love (and will get it) but that will be visible with the new landscaping as well! Thank you for the kind words and thank you for watching!

Totally agree with this comment, really makes the house stand out, I would probably leave it like it is adding more dying as nd mulch

I agree about the new start. This year I simplified my gardens immensely. I couldn’t be happier. I too love simple clean lines. I just don’t want the work anymore,(getting older) but I still love a beautifully landscaped garden. I will use more pots with plants and flowers. Easily moved. Nice work.

Like watching the seasons change, I love watching a garden grow and transform - they're living organisms so that's what they're meant to do! It's exciting to see and a real creative boost for me.

I’m so excited to see the transformation as you make your home YOUR home.
Always interesting to see your fresh and new ideas. Although the artificial turf looks good on camera if you plan to replace it I would do it all now so you can get your infrastructure in place in terms of sprinklers, irrigation, etc. I think I would put up with sparse looking flower beds in the short term.
That being said …. Of course it’s your space and I so enjoy watching it evolve!

It is great to put your own stamp in your landscaping. I'm redoing a lot of mine this fall. I coddled many shrubs and plants after the deep freeze in 2021 but gave up on them after the drought and high temps arrived in southeast TX this summer.
My taste has changed since we moved in 30 years ago, so I will be changing the colour palette somewhat and making it even more bird and butterfly friendly.

Wow....that branch being gone changed the whole dynamics of your lawn for sure. I love your plans because I thought your other homes lawn was a"chefs kiss"...must have been difficult to leave that yard. This yard is becoming beautifully your style and has been a blast to watch the transformation!! Linda"s style is pretty but your style is equally beautiful and it's fun to have a channel like yours with a clean line garden....you two both are so inspiring to watch and learn from...so happy you are sharing your journey too!
