I pay £950 per month here in London for one-bedroom plus £150 for Council Tax, Electricity £200 = Total £1,300. I think I should join the Army.

chances are you could still get stationed up in london or near, especially if you join the household cavalry (queens gaurds on horses) or one of the other queens guards regiments (typical guys with red coats)

I have a family member who's a medical officer in the army (so making about 60-70k), and he said that, with how low his monthly outgoings are, he'd have to be making in excess of six figures to be in the same financial situation as a civilian in a city like London.

Lucky gits in the late 80s at Robert barracks larkhill it was 4 and 2 man rooms and wee paid abput same for food and room my council rent now in Hythe South kent £280 a month 1 bedroom bungalow with garden
This is really good advice I’m a civilian but my boyfriends is in the army and we are talking about moving in together and this would help a lot and thanks for the help I’m from Scotland and it’s a big move xx

I'm an Army Brat and we never had houses like this growing up! Well jealous haha
The only thing I couldn't deal with is the awful beds/mattresses that the rooms come with... and sometimes the other furniture is really bulky too 🥲. But im not sure if you're allowed to put your own bed frame or anything like that because presumably they'd then have to store their furniture elsewhere and I don't know that they'd do that ? . I've seen some photos where people have their own furniture in their rooms so who knows

Very interesting video. I remember the accommodations being absolutely disgusting in 91 - 05. I’d be interested to see what sort of resettlement support the troops get, hopefully it’s good enough to enable standards in pay moving into civilian life when the time comes.
A lot of it still is disgusting, Kendrew Barracks for a start, absolute sh**hole. He only showed the sort of accommodation the MOD would like you to see.

Maybe you could a video about some of the charities/organisations etc which can provide help/support to service and ex-service personnel.
The charges for married quarters are incredible! I pay around than that for a 1 bedroom social housing flat.

Wow the singlies accom has changed since the 90s. I had a posting in tidworth I was paying 30p a day as it was classed as substandard. 4 man rooms that had 2 in. Ablutions that were disgusting and didn’t matter how much cleaning you did, showers that gave lukewarm water and 1 washer drier between around 20-25 lads. It was first class accommodation back in ww1 when it was built. Food was great to at £3 a day.
It sure has changed, when I remember rooms, ablutions and food like that back in 2006 onwards but it has definitely changed now.
Living in the block paying £80 a month, you could save a LOT of money, combined with the full army pension you could end up pretty comfortable. Although now with covid the world is changing and private ownership of property is going to be phased out
I am going in to the RAF (yes I know!) and I believe the accommodation regs are the same. I have done some research but struggling to find anything concrete. I have a daughter who I would be having every weekend when I am in, however I would be otherwise unaccompanied. Do you know if I can apply for surplus SFA so I have somewhere to have my daughter or would I have to live in the block? It's not a deal breaker but would definitely be more comfortable!

A bit different than old duffers like me had when I joined up. 16 to a room, sometimes more. The least number of bed to a room I experienced was six!

It's good accommodation for a guy with no family who has somewhere nice safe and clean to go when he isn't deployed
What guy with no family gets that?
I mean it's a good place for a guy that joins the army to stay if he has no family or wants to keep himself to himself when he's not on deployment instead of going home
You you are eligible for housing but it's highly unlikely a single person will get a house

Question for anyone that knows. I pass out of ITC in May to 1st battalion royal anglian regiment, and shortly after the whole battalion is moving out the Cyprus. Its been hard being away from my girlfriend during training, especially with coronavirus and restrictions becusse we can't go back home at weekends. I'm wondering if there's a way she can come with me. I know we don't qualify for married quarters but is there any way I can rent my own place out in Cyprus? Or any similar options?

2nd Battalion Royal Anglians (The Poachers) are based at Kendrew Barracks where the accommodation is absolutely shocking from what I've seen and heard. MOD should be ashamed, prisons have better accommodation and facilities

I believe it is yes as I've been in RAF accomodation but only at one camo, and I don't know the price but I'm guessing it'll be similar

I am starting phase 1 training soon but would be doing my phase 2 training in blanford as a cyber engineer after are you in the same role If its not to rude to ask mate? Do most people in the signals down there get married quarters during phase 2?
@@cg8442 hey mate! I’m doing EWSI so a simpler role and yeah I know a few lads that do get it but I’m not sure on your course my course is 56-60 weeks so just over a year that’s why we can apply may be the same for you

I’m joining the Royal Marines as a Filipino , passed my interview and initial physical exam ...if you loive her in the uk and have full British citizenship you definitely can however if you’re not you might have an issue as I don’t think Philippines is part of the commonwealth of the uk.

@@MarkJMonaghan officer. I don't really want to enlist in the medical Corp, I'd would like to have more of a combat role. I don't know a lot about the different roles but I don't mind enlisting in the medical corp.

At what point can you apply for separate or single accommodation just cuz I’ve got phase 1 in a couple weeks and wondered if you can apply straight after phase 2
You don't apply for single accomodation it will all get sorted and be ready for you when you leave training, you only need to apply for houses
