I joined at 35.i had no issue taking orders from younger corporals..that is the order of the day. I buried all my experiences in life and was prepared to start afresh. As i speak I made it through Phase 1 and passed out successfully. Oh, and I did phase 1 during the coldest months.. Today I feel so proud about myself of my achievement. Making it to the top list of 19 people out of 48 when we passed out was a good feeling.
I'm 32 joining the RAF. Better late than never. I feel like this is the best time to join for me personally (uncertain times). I've had my fun in 'civvy street', messed around most of my life, its time for a 'serious' job now and one I can be proud of. I don't think I'd have been mentally prepared to make the most out of joining the military at a young age. We're all different. The main worry for me is fitness, but the way I see it I just have to put in more effort or train 25% harder to stay on par with the lads. Oh and try to not get injured.
Went for my army assessment last month and I was really pleasantly surprised how many girls around my age were there the average age was about 25 the youngest one there was 19 was great to know there was so many others in the same boat as me. I did go to my careers office at 16 and unfortunately missed the intake, so I was advised to go to college or get a job. I was given some good opportunities for civilian jobs and eneded up not joining the army. 10 years later I massively regret that decision. Civilian life to me is extremely boring and I find it difficult to hold down a job for more than a year. @@MilitaryFitness thanks I’ll check those out, just a quick question, I asked on Reddit too how to do the bleep test better and pretty much all of them say I need to be running 5ks at 27:00 pace which I absolutely cannot do, is this correct or would you disagree
@@regandenman4825 the 5km run is a different kettle of fish entirely than the bleep test so no, I don’t agree. My main reason for wanting to join (as cringe as it might sound) is because I think it'll turn me from a boy into a man. Im 25 and pretty much a wuss. Got no confidence, horrible social anxiety, and genuinely dont get respect in any social circle. Im not particularly patriotic at all but i feel that it'll transform me into a new person.
So what'd you reckon? Would it be a good idea in that case?
Give it a go, you could be a natural 🫡🫡
Hi Sam I’m 36 ..British National oversea citizen, to be honest I still struggle in english..do I have to be fluent speaking in english before I try to join….?
I don’t think you have to be fluent but you may have to be a certain level.
Hey there mate, love the videos and the content. I am joining the signals at the age of 29, what's your advice to someone who has high aspirations in specialising and applying myself to the best way possible as a soldier in the British army?
Also do you have any info on the electronic warfare specialist role?
The key to begin with is just towing the line and doing what you are told. EW is my trade, you will enjoy it once you have passed all the courses.
@Military Fitness Cheers mate. Also in EW do you get to deploy with infantry units and be attached as part of a team?
@@GodsAssassin yeah you can do
@Military Fitness thankyou so much mate. Have a blessed day and weekend.
Ex 2 Para, im 53, im guessing thats too old for reserve SAS ?
I think so, but you could always ask the recruiters online
I have a question sam? British major, John Andre was 30 and had already been head of British secret service in America by 30. Is the U.S. Army still wanted for hanging John Andre as a spy or or has the British government just let it go and let the U.S. army just got away with it?
🫡
I just moved to the UK.
Turned 36 in August
What am I options
I am interested
Try the army website and they will help for sure
I hope I am not too late.I am 73,but I do not think I could get over that obstacle course.Too old for training,so could I be Field Marshall on entry?
I have had a look and unfortunately you have missed out by 1 year. If you were 72 you could have joined as a Field Marshall and missed out on all the physical training.
At least I have joined the British Legion
@@col4574 that’s the main thing. I love the legion.
Hey there!
I'm from commonwealth countries want to join British Army and Can I come in Student visa n then apply to British army ?
I could not honestly say sorry.
Sam am 36 is that to old. I should of joined when I left school, my mate did and I didn’t.
You would have to act pretty fast as the cut off is 37. If you are fit and healthy go for it.
I'm 29 planning to join the army.
Good on you. Best of luck🫡
Hello. I have assessment centre in 4 weeks time, I can currently only obtain level 6.0 on the bleep test, is it possible to put .6 on in that little time, if so how. Thank you
Yes definitely. I have a number of videos on my channel on how to increase your levels on the bleep test over a short period of time.
It would be good for you overall fitness to be able to do it in 27 mins but to get to level 6.6 on the bleep test you need to be doing hiit workouts. If you can get to level 6 now just aim for 6.1 next rather than pressuring yourself to get to 6.6 straight away.
@@MilitaryFitness I appreciate the reassurance
How would the pay be bad ?? What’s the reason for getting bad pay when you join in your 30s ??
You start off on the the same as a 17 year old no matter what age you join
@@MilitaryFitness oh… well in that case I still think it’s great. As long as you don’t have too much going on you should be ok.
@@khemrajsingh541 You will spend half your wage going out with your army friends. Even if you don't live like that now, chances are your social life will increase in the army. Something not a lot of people factor in.
Help me to join army
What is the minimum salary for a reservist
I am not sure to be honest
Joining infantry at 34.
Good on you, best of luck
@@MilitaryFitness Thanks, I'll need it haha
Army’s not taking rejoiners yet when will this open
That’s strange, I spoke to a recruiter and they said they were crying out for rejoiners
@@MilitaryFitness I’ve been trying for months and just keep getting told April the re joiner policy will get reviewed as they put a holt on it. If you know more info on how to get back in that’d be great
@@clhfitness8998 I will look into it mate
What is the oldest you have to be to join?
I think 34 is the oldest
@@MilitaryFitness ok... was hoping I can at 35 birthday soon will be 35...
If rejoining the infantry would I have to go back to itc ???
That may depend on how long ago you got out.
@@MilitaryFitness 11 years
@@rumwilliam2767 yeah you probably will then, but I can’t be completely certain.
@@MilitaryFitness I think ile leave it then 😂😂
