    This was an exact replacement for the old one that lasted about 10 years. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh The top of my mitigation tube by my roofline was just a 90 elbow which allowed too much debris to fall down into the fan, eventually ruining it. Without this issue, I bet it would have kept running another 10 years. When I replaced this fan, I added an extra elbow joint so the top tube now it does a 180, which should solve that problem. The radon guys around here wanted to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee, then parts/labor (probably close to $600 total). I installed this all by myself in about an hour for the cost of the fan; it would probably be even easier/faster with two people. FYI the manufacturer's warranty greatly differs depending on whether you install it yourself (1 yr warranty) or have a licensed installer do it (10 yrs).

    I learned in the past when installing a tankless that when stainless steel venting is required the cost of your project spikes incredibly. Not only that but I had trouble where I was living piecing together all the stainless parts I needed. Had to go to all the stores and called around to supply houses just to find 4 ft of venting and parts. Next time I'm going with the product that uses PVC venting

      Wow...I am looking to replace my 21-year-old tank with a tankless. I noticed there was some water residue on the floor, but I just caught it earlier while it was leaking out.

    Is an outside tankless water heater even possible to consider in western Pennsylvania with possible cold climates? Or do some outside units come with some sort of freeze protection?

      Yes, they are possible but it depends where you live. Where are you located and what model are you looking at?

    What about Takagi or Bosch? I had a Tagaki for 14 years, no problems and no maintenance. We sold our home, but the new owners are still using it and that's 18 years no issues.

    Tankless water heater need professional plumber to installation. What additional parts, tools or information are needed for a regular people like me who can do it by myself? That will be more valuable.

    Surprised to see Navien is not one of your top heaters as they are way more advanced then these old style heaters. Not only does the A2 series come with built in recirculation pump it also has a built in buffer tank .

    • @Freshnss
      @Freshnss  Год назад +2

      Hey Darren - It was a close call, but in the end, it got edged out based on the competition. Maybe for next years ranking! Naviens are great, but I wouldn’t necessarily say they are better than “these old models” as these have similar features. Really depends on your situation and what you need. Have you been using the A2? Would be curious how you like it so far?

    Well the top one is not even mentioned. Navien is the best on the market. I have taken big boiler systems out of restaurants and installed 2 Navien’s cascading together and have had not problems. I have also done a lot of work on them unit’s mentioned in this video.

      On a Condensing model. Do you slope the exhaust piping away from the unit? or does a condensating unit have a run off trap like a HE furnace?
