Love your craftsmanship on your heads and i cant wait to buy one you look second to none i watched your videos on hesd porting and i have ported car heads but this 212 is a lil different animal to port then a car my question is is there a way i can send you pictures of my ports i know you cant tell alot from a picture but i would like you to look at them and maybe tell me if i followed what you were saying in your videos thanks man
The pictures aren't the best but show the short turn well i guess and i did what you said about opening the bowl up on the intake and i really could see what you meant about if your not breaking through the oil breather tube it aint ported because i see no piont and cant say something is ported just smooth over the short turn and the minor porting i see on youtube every guy ive seen on RUclips says they got a ported head no you have a head with rounded short turn thats it when i got done i had a serious pile of metal on my table and opening the bowl on the intake like you said really opens up the port really well and damn near can see the whole valve looking in the port i took and tried to raise the port as much as the gasket would let me on both intake and exhaust and there really isnt alot of gasket surface left but the short turn looks really nice when you do that i got one of them bullshit 15 hp kit that comes with an overboard stock carb and it was kinda lazy seemed like it was being chocked and then i put a 1 inch bore tillotson alcohol carb on it and man that thing camw to life night and day it is definitely seriously under carbed with any mods much less a head thats been ported to any extent you can just crack the throttle now its way more responsive than it was with tgat junk overboard stock carb and i got another question with my head opened up like it is is there any benefits i know there will be gains but if i put 32 28 vlaves in it with ports that ars ported like you teached in your video's with the 265 super x cam will it just make a lil more hp or are the gains going to be like 3 hp or something like that i know it needs a way bugger cam to take advantage of the head im just curious what the bigger valves would do like it is
Bigger valves makes more flow. Cfm x .2576 equals HP. Yea the choke point is in the cross section so open that up good. Like you said be careful not to break through the oil passage. We do that on purpose though in order to get through the choke point. You can fill the oil passage with weld or rod or some tubing to re wall it after breaking through. That way it’s as large as as possible. But send me pics I’d love to see your work. 💪😎
@paulskartslifan4206 yes I paid attention to the part in the port where you were saying enlarge it and I seen what you were talking about and I see why you put the tube on then and raise port the short turn is kinda bad in factory head actually I'm watching your vidioe on biased port and all that stuff I'm just the guy that's got a motor and a grinder and I want one of your heads what I'm planning on doing is going as far as I think I can go and go by your videos and then see how good I can get them them buy one of yours because you don't learn Noth king if you don't try you know what I mean I know your head is better I'm no where near as good as your work mine are lil rough kinda not really but I like trying things to see if it works I may be in totally wrong direction but that's why I wanna buy your head after I think I got it close because I wanna see what I'm capable of skill level wise and I don't wanna have your head in my hand so I can cheat lol anyways how do I send you pic of my head
It’s an engine , well built to withstand high rpm and heavy demands. It was designed to be a race engine but is an engine “and as such” can be used for any purpose you would use an engine for.
That’s all it needs … never saw a welded tilly block break with just a top spine .. I used to weld the hell out of the Honda blocks tho your right .. top spine, bottom jug support , side bearing support etc. these new tilly blocks are so much thicker I’m totally in love with there new design. Have you seen a tilly block break before ? Like a welded one ? If you did I’d love to see a pic to see where it broke for info .. thanks… Paul
@@paulskartslifan4206 yeah, a while back i built a tilly 263. Nothing special, no fancy billet head or anything. I payed for an accredited welder to brace the block and it still shat the bed. I’m happy to admit i probably did something wrong, just not sure what. After my experience with that 263 I’m hesistant to builder another with a block less reinforced than what john fear does. In all honestly probably complete overkill. Ill edit this comment to link his channel. youtube.com/@johnbolling501?si=1OgPonUK6wEga_7K Not entirely sure what happened. My guess was the rod bearing failed then the rod failed, then the block failed. Basically the whole engine was unusable after. The cam was bent, so was the crank. The block was cracked near the bearing. The side cover was severely bulged out and was no longer flat. The rod snapped in half, snapped the intake valve off. And the piston slammed it into the exhaust valve which seriously fucked the head. I got the surface flat, but i would have had to redo the chamber. I threw it away a while back but i have pictures somewhere. Ill @ you on twitter with them when i find them. In all fairness My expierience mostly lies with Vanguard and Kohler racing mowers. We rarely build those to anywhere near this degree.
@@IanStClair-dy1eu I wouldn’t be hesitant, whatever happened in your build was something you can make sure to double check on the next one. Keep pushing forward ✅🔥😎💪
@@paulskartslifan4206 Geez man. You have got to be one of the most positive engine builders i have ever met. Which is fucking awesome, i wish i had that. Craaaaazy compression 😂🤣😂. Of course it’s craaaazy compression when the valves are shut and the plug is in it 🙄. No need to pull air to make it whip hard ya have a sealed unit. Stop the dumb please, Real builders see right threw the 💩
