Excellent summary. It is basically the same material I use but presented in your style. Students who have read their text can put it all together without much trouble. I also use the same approach with the college class. I like a quick summary and then launch into class discussion. It makes the students think on their feet and the information sticks in their heads. The traditional classroom lecture does little to help the student remember facts. Very good job!
You betcha'. Im a US history teacher but I have 15 or so related world videos, so go dig yourself into the playlist on the homepage. I just ask you share me with your peeps.
Your right not a fascist in terms of ideology. He may of assumed some characteristics of fascism. But I can completely empathize and understand your concern. And yes, I was saying it in tongue and cheek. Although I have no freaking idea where that phrase comes from or how it means that concept. Thanks for your VERY IMPORTANT comment! ~hiphughes
Thanks for the kudos! I do think we should reserve the word hero to situations which risk death or great bodily injury (police/military/fire/burning car). I've done non of those things, although once one of my filming lights exploded. It wasn't really all that dangerous though and I actually enjoyed the fireworks. Hope you subscribe and I get to edutain you some more. Buckets of Peace, ~HipHughes
This is great! Thank you so much for making this. Your perspective is positive and very accessible. I am in university and this was a nice way to ease into my readings. Positive vibrations friend!
I believe I retracted that in the comments, you are exactly correct. I talked without notes for 13 minutes and made an error, so my deepest apologies. I have a google search for you, try: "human relationship skills", b/c no matter how smart you are calling good intentioned people idiots is still a jerk move. Best of luck in your studies.
True but I would argue most of that western front was aggressively bombing England and containing smaller outbreaks as he maintained control of France, Belgium, etc.... I do think D-Day but him on a two front war in the truer sense of the world. Two major lines of attack/defense. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the kudos and kudos to you for wrinkling your brain on your own. If your following the US course of events I have a very detailed and extensive playlist, so Cold War would follow this.... if your doing a world history thing, I am weak.... I only have 15 world vids so its hit or miss. The Crash Course brothers do an amazing job on World so check them out too. I saw you subscribed so I look forward to your comments and questions. Rock on sister!
I layer post production, so I bet I pointed to the wrong part of the green screen. Chalk it up to one more thing, I would love to go back and fix. Thanks for watching, I hope you subscribe and I look forward to your comments, insights and questions. ~Hughes
In order to maximize ur effectiveness as a troll I suggest flying through the previous comments. I have over 30 hours of video lectures on youtube, you can be rest assured there are snafus. I don't script which certainly has its negatives. The reason I don't is I am much more interested in ideas and authenticity, getting across big ideas. I consider myself a social studies educator not a "history" teacher.
Wow, you're a feisty one. I'd give you a hug but I think you would shank me. And you are correct in one sense, the only thing I know for sure is I really don't know anything at all. Good luck in your quest for knowledge, I hope you get less mean. Otherwise its best to start saving for therapy now.
you are actually amazing! This has helped me SO much. If i get an A on my final tomorrow, I owe it to you! I love learning because of you and history is no longer a hassle. Lots of Appreciation !
The song is on an album called "Flocabulary" which is all hip hop US history songs. This one is called "Would You Drop It?" I am pretty sure the show is Family Guy... although I don't watch it so I am not 100%. I am more like 89% sure. Good luck on your exams.
I love your videos, I am long done taking finals, and highschool exams, but I really appreciate these quick insightful lectures to refresh my memories on history.
Not everyone is a Zinn guy but I would recommend him to get a grasp of the flow and ebb of American History. Have you read People's History? Its online just google Zinn People's History..... thanks for the kudos
Hey Keith this is really good but i'd Just like to point out that The Sudetenland was the Industrial Land in Czechoslovakia. The Rhine land was the area that was taken away from Germany because of the treaty of versailles. 4:33
pretty goood man. its hard to sum up so much tragedy and craziness in under 15 min. your right though, learning is so much more fun when it is not forced on you like in a test. keep up the good work!
I couldn't make it through the whole video because the initial dates given are ill defined or completely off base. Look the halacaust is not WWII or visa versa, though they did occur simultaneously. Also, the halacaust is normally defined as beginning with the actual extermination order (the "final solution") which was created during the Wannsee conference of 1942 (well into WWII).
I've been watching a hellavolot of ww2 documentaries since the past months and Im finding it's really paying up. Everything that you've just discussed are exactly what I've learned throughout those hundreds of hours, I've also learned a new few things regarding about Stallin. Even though I've already gone through collage and didnt care about history too much. I kinda felt bad knowing that history is awsome, and i just failed to take enough interest to continue learning more about it. Keep it up!
That was so excellent! Would that only you were my teacher in history in propria school! That is amazing! You really made that animate before my very eyes and I thank you so much! I really mean every word of this! Please keep doing what you're doing and when the student is serious and ready you may be there for them as well wow! I'm just amazed and beside myself thank you
thank you and thank you for your videos, i really like watching them because you actually explain a lot of things. which is good, since my exam is in 2 days....
Love the videos. BUT you mixed up Sudetenland/Rhineland - two very different chunks of land on opposite sides of Germany. Rhineland on the West and Sudetenland on the East...
thank you very much this was very helpful. just one quite important thing though. the sudatenland was in Czechoslovakia, this was important because of the Munich conferance etc. i wont go into detail why he took it but it is important
In my mind it is part of WWII, the actions of a nation at war exterminating humans. I am sure the Jews felt it as war. I am more interested in ideas and effects than teaching the technocratic language of history, so if I crossed some historian line in the sand then so be it. I do appreciate your comment. peace.
Thanks Doc, I teach withdrawn, angry adolescent 17 year olds in Buffalo NY. I jest, I do love my kids. And thanks for the clarifications, I am a big blanket teacher and sometimes screw up the washcloths.... I also am US History so doing European stuff always exposes my academic vulnerabilities.
Yes, I have been reminded of this mistake repeatedly. the cost of internet boo boos. lol. thanks, I appreciate it, accuracy is crowded sourced which makes YT learning that much better than your average bear learnin'
Now I know where my next 75 cents will come from in the next few weeks! Please subscribe and tell everyone you know including strangers to subscribe to I can live my life out as a gangster. Thanks for the kudos and keep on watching!
Really good video. You teach well. I have a question.. What is the regent test and what are the ages of those taking it? And just two more things: Sudetenland is in west (at that time-) Czechoslovakia (Or did you mean the Rhineland?) and Germany and the USSR both invaded and divided Poland between them in 1939. It was not until 1941 they did it. Minor things or mistakes :) But yes, I enjoyed your lecture and I'll recommend your channel to history interested young people. Take care.
Hugh look back,Sudatenland was that stech of land between gemany and chexlosvokia alsace was the part always disputed with germany and france.Plase do a same lesson on Indochina You have a way to keep peoples attension,Good Luck
2:31 Charlie Chaplin was English. Yes he moved to America during his teens (I think) to pursue a career in the movie industry but that doesn't make him American.
Well this certainly would help some people here in Europe/Denmark too. I don't think young people here know as much about WWII (definitely not in this detail) as they should, considered Germany invaded us in the process. And thanks for your reply.
Your right, by democratically, I mean according to the rules of their election system. The NSDAP won 43.9% of the vote in 1933, no dounbt not a majority, but thats how parties get elected there "democratically" Of course after that he destroyed any notion of democracy and put the "dic" back in dictator. Thanks for the clarification and kudos!
High school drop out here. Ive learned more in this past hour than I did in all my years in school combined. so, I just wanted to thank you for being able to teach me 10 yrs after high school. With your unique spin on things it was an easy learn. It probably helps that now that im older im actually interested in learning this stuff, rather than just trying to pass a test. Im rambling, so where do I go from here? Whats next after ww2? Isreals creation? Thanks again. u rock
I already owned up to my Sudetenland mistake. My Bad. Of course responding to criticism from a holocaust denier is sort of like explaining what color looks like to a blind person. I wish you none of the hate you probably wish on me and others.
PS - As a fellow teacher, any minor use of terms or other things that could be used by some to criticize your presentation is being petty. If given in a classroom setting, you can back up and correct those minor things as students point them out..it also gives you the ability to compliment the student on their knowledge which only increases their learning and respect for learning, so don't worry about those "jerk moves".
Good luck. Be sure to go to the US History playlist, this video is targeted for world history. And please share with your peeps online so I can live like a gangster.
I do, however these are curriculum based lectures for kids studying for finals. As much as I would like to includes lots of more information, I would drown away my target audience and probably end up with 56 minute videos. Perhaps Franco for another video. Nice backhanded critique though! :)
Yea you're right sorry, I'm from Spain, where my grandparents are buried somewhere in the middle of nowhere victims of one of the biggest massacres in European history. I like your Chanel though, good luck!!
@doll329 eeks, thats no good. spread my site on your fb and myspace and such... save your friends... at least for a few big global concepts... good luck.. a go getter like you has to do well!
Oh my gosh. I love love. Keep watching and learning!
I actually appreciate feedback and corrections. Its not the food, it was the service.

Agreed there.
@mmamtalove14 I was right here.... waiting for you. why didn't you show up?

This has been made crystal clear to me. Point taken.
This was a great review of the APUSH chapter I just had to read. Very helpful, and your lectures help me learn. Thank you!

Wow, you're a feisty one. I'd give you a hug but I think you would shank me. And you are correct in one sense, the only thing I know for sure is I really don't know anything at all. Good luck in your quest for knowledge, I hope you get less mean. Otherwise its best to start saving for therapy now.
The sudetenland was not in eastern france!? It was part of czechoslovakia...
The Sudetenland was "returned" to Germany, Hitler then decided to occupy most of Czechoslovakia, something that wasn't agreed at the Munich agrenebt
I once mistakenly placed my pants on my head.
What's that you say? Eh? You are very correct sir. Thanks for adding to the layers of learning.
These are the best review videos on youtube for global. I have my final in the morning and the regents is in a week so they're so helpful!!
you are actually amazing! This has helped me SO much. If i get an A on my final tomorrow, I owe it to you! I love learning because of you and history is no longer a hassle. Lots of Appreciation !
Perhaps you should watch my Dropping the Atomic Bomb video. I think you are mistaken in my intentions.
what is the rap song at the end?
The song is on an album called "Flocabulary" which is all hip hop US history songs. This one is called "Would You Drop It?" I am pretty sure the show is Family Guy... although I don't watch it so I am not 100%. I am more like 89% sure. Good luck on your exams.

Mr. Hughes, which axis country was stronger in military, Germany or Japan?
You're great, Hughes. I love all of your videos (at least the ones I've watched). Keep it up!
Hey Keith this is really good but i'd Just like to point out that The Sudetenland was the Industrial Land in Czechoslovakia. The Rhine land was the area that was taken away from Germany because of the treaty of versailles. 4:33
Thank you, Mr. Hughes (from a fifty year old mother who gets history, but not her high school freshman son). This really helped!

What is the difference between president Harding and Wilson
pretty goood man. its hard to sum up so much tragedy and craziness in under 15 min. your right though, learning is so much more fun when it is not forced on you like in a test. keep up the good work!
whats the song in the end...and that show...
i forgot what its called meanwhile i watch it at least twice a week xD
Is there any video's that would help me in 9th grade Geography
What song is that at the end of your video?
I couldn't make it through the whole video because the initial dates given are ill defined or completely off base. Look the halacaust is not WWII or visa versa, though they did occur simultaneously. Also, the halacaust is normally defined as beginning with the actual extermination order (the "final solution") which was created during the Wannsee conference of 1942 (well into WWII).

What is the name of the song at the end of the video?
That was so excellent! Would that only you were my teacher in history in propria school! That is amazing! You really made that animate before my very eyes and I thank you so much! what is the song called at the end?
That was fantastic mate, really casual and clear, definitely recommend this to my classmates!
Love the videos. BUT you mixed up Sudetenland/Rhineland - two very different chunks of land on opposite sides of Germany. Rhineland on the West and Sudetenland on the East...
very helpful & informative, thanks for the videos.
A nice different way to revise :D Not looking forward to the Germany and then Russia paper I am going to take after the half-term :(

what role did democracy play in WW1, WW2, and The Cold War? I REALLY NEED HELP WITH THIS!!

I have never heard that opinion on the effects of ww2 with the "Don't humiliate your enemy" That was pretty thoughtful you earned a subscription,
Hi right back.
Really good video. You teach well. I have a question.. What is the regent test and what are the ages of those taking it?

That's the plan! Thanks for the sub
This has to be one of the classiest responses I have ever seen on the internet to trolling. Your students are lucky to have you as a role model.
the sudentenland is in czechslovakia. I think you mean his reocuppation of the Rhineland.
2:31 Charlie Chaplin was English. Yes he moved to America during his teens (I think) to pursue a career in the movie industry but that doesn't make him American.
Love your reviews!
Thank you so much!! I have my regents tomorrow and this helped so much!!
i just love how you tell history! thank you!

Wow, i would have loved to have you as a teacher in highschool, which I assume you are
Nice work dude
Nice job Mr. Hughes.

Hey Keith it's your cousin Brian, I teach world history, I love using your videos to teach my class
lol. My bum is fine, just some general advice to avoid having to dish out money for therapy after your 2nd or 3rd divorce.
= _ = regents prep doesnt work on the day before the global regents... sad, no?
Thanks a whole bunch! This really helped me in my global understanding class!

helped soo much for my test tommorow
I agree with you on that Stalin had "big plans" for Europe, the germans found plenty of documents, but this did never enter the history textbooks.
I already owned up to my Sudetenland mistake. My Bad. Of course responding to criticism from a holocaust denier is sort of like explaining what color looks like to a blind person. I wish you none of the hate you probably wish on me and others.
