Dunno if anyone cares but if you're stoned like me atm you can stream all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my brother during the lockdown :)
Loved the video! Provided all of the information I need for my economics test while presenting it as a story, describing how the different systems evolved overtime. Subscribed and I hope your other videos are as great as this one!
Thanks Dan.... I think the analogy is simplified... you are right a comb story would move in... but blow that up and instead of combs and its steel.... or oil.... or coal.... then the idea of "start ups" moving in doesn't work. But good point... thanks for the kudos.... I hope I earned your sub.....
You should do a video of brief introductions into alternative economic theories like Bio-regionalism: Ralph Nader style, Volunteerism: libertarian or an-cap style, Parecon: Michael Albert style, Primitivism: Derrick Jensen style, etc. etc. ! ! ! !
I just stumbled across your videos, the ones I've seen are pretty basic and easy to follow. I like them a lot. I understand you can't get as in-depth as you'd like to and you're winging it with the analogies but I do think the combs analogy is flawed. When a business out-competes another it can't just corner the market because other capitalists are looking to enter markets where they can profit. Selling combs at outrageous prices is a sign to enter. Like I said though, good job with the videos.
Its a very interesting way to deliver the necessary basic knowledge of the development of economic systems. It is also very appealing to the youth. However, I would advice to eliminate the musical background after a short amount of time. So, if when you play the interesting music you got here, make sure it stops after few seconds. I think the music background was a major distraction watching this nice educational piece. best,
Yea you got it and I'll check out some more of your stuff. I saw you mentioned the crash course videos in some of your comments. Gotta say I watched their video about the Constitution and it was biased to the point where it was difficult to watch. But keep spreading the knowledge and good luck.
dno if its rely fair to say that modern day US and uk have Keynesian / mixed economies? ye there may be some small social welfare in uk (much smaller in us) but we dont have national ownership of public services where the really negative affects of the free market affects ppl like hi gas bills or train tiket prices for example. also isnt it a result of reganomics that were having this doubledip recessiom financial crisis thats leading to austerity evrywhere-? didnt high deficits caused by opening up the financial sector to the market and not having state regulation in this and other important sectors drainmoney from our economy?
That is a very antiquated view of Socialism. I might say that modern democratic socialism wishes to strengthen governmental control of the means and modes of profit of collectively necessary social services. The word socialism is almost worthless coin in today's world, just like liberal, or progressive, or even republican.
This actually is so good, I was genuinely laughing while watching. I will say personal thank you to my professor who suggested watching this video :-D
WAY TOO LONG, music is disturbing, you didnt put hands up when you said laissez-faire in 12:51 genius
Thank you this was a great summary!!!

I was a little apprehensive about using this video for studying for my test, but it makes sooo much sense. Thanks!
I'm totally headbanging to the Tetris theme.
Go look at the US History list and open up Triangular Trade for dummies, it has a lady icon.
You didn't raise your hand when u said laissez-faire in 12:51 genius.

"laissez-faire" doesn't mean "hands off" literally
"Combs: five thousand dollars!" LOL

I get occasional warm fuzzy emails and I have my fair share of internet trolls.

Dork, but cleverly disguised as not a dork.
Russia doesn't even consider its self a socialist country any more.

Stop the music please! Its irritating and disturbing!
Pity he did not practise the script before recording.
