I used to have really “oily” dehydrated skin but once I started using hydrating serums, moisturisers and oils after ditching matte products, my skin changed and now it’s so balanced and always has a healthy glow
Even when I had combination skin, I couldn’t even imagine not using a ton of hydrating and moisturizing ingredients. I hated the feeling of stripped skin. Hydrated, glowing skin is truly the best feeling. It really gives you so much confidence.
I remember my skincare mistakes... Hi Susan. Love your videos. I’m a guy and am not that good at skincare but trying here. I’m probably not doing it right but it’s going ok. Thank you for all the hard work ❤️
same just started ! my advice to you is to understand that there is very little advice aside sunscreen that works for everyone. Find out what works for you !
I loved the in depth explanation of the order of her serums. That was amazing and helped me solve my morning routine questions with the products I normally use. I’m going to layer my acid before my vitamin C like Susan suggested and see if I can tell a difference in my skin. This was super informative!
I agree, it was great bit of the info. I also heard Dr Dray mention it once in her video, basically vitamin c liked that acidic ph so I use my aha toner in the morning and I follow it up by vitamin c.
My experience was that when I'm wearing a small amount of makeup (I'm always wearing a ridiculously small amount, I prefer when it looks really natural, in 'my skin but better' way), it makes my (usually both dry and dehydrated, sensitive) skin feel, in a way, more protected. I've noticed that it is way less dehydrated and dry by the end of the day and there is less redness and iritations overall, especially during harsh winter climate where I live. 'Let your skin breathe' is just an old wives tale, I just choose to ignore it. 😄 As long as the night time routine is appropriate and your double-cleansing system is efficient, wearing any amount of makeup won't disturb your skin and/or skin barrier at all.
I definitely feel like my skin was better when I worked at Saks at the counter, and always had a good amount of makeup on every day. Lately, with the pandemic and not working, I definitely feel like my skin isn’t as moisturized and I touch my face way too much now. The makeup kept me from touching it.

It’s weird. Idk but I noticed it started getting more moisturizes and breaking out less because I struggle from dry acne prone skin.
So true about makeup, during the first lockdown in spring my skin was getting worse and worse. Luckily, it encouraged me to finally start seeing esthetician regularly after they were allowed to open, which made the biggest difference ever

I had the same experience at the beginning of Covid. I had to start working from home and I stopped wearing makeup and my skin did NOT appreciate it. After a couple months I started wearing makeup and my skin went back to normal. It was frustrating, but also very interesting. Good thing I like makeup. Thanks for the video! 😊

Hi, Susan. Thanks so much for todays video 💕. Really enjoyed it 😍! Quick question : If I'm using an AHA and a BHA serum(2 different serums) in the same routine, which do I apply first? Will applying one before the other give me better results or does it not matter the order?
THIS VIDEO! So "illuminating" (?) The myth of skin breathing, the versatility of HA and the potential maximization of benefits by putting it on top of the other actives. So fun! I love your personality so much.
I have a question about serums! So I'm 26 years old and started noticing fine lines on my forehead and jowls as well as very dark circles under my eyes, and I was wondering if I should start applying retinol to my face. What's a good, affordable serum you would suggest, or a healthy percentage that I should be looking for? Also I do have a 10% pure vitamin C serum by Cerave that I was reluctant to use because I wasn't sure if I should use it everyday or even how much I should put on my face. How often in general should I apply these serums? Thank you!!
Speaking on your opening points, I’ve been on tretinoin from my derm since I was 16, but now in my mid twenties, I’ve been adding a lot of extra steps and ingredients and processes to sort of gracefully age especially after spending the last 10+ years in the sun.
I have used the dennis gross led mask that she has and I've tried the handle one, honestly, the dennis gross one is so short at 3 minutes, and if you do multiple sessions, the battery burns quick, so I'd recommend getting a cheaper one on Amazon, or better yet eBay, but make sure you look up the type to see other reviews. Also check the details! But I honestly prefer my amazon led microcurrent wand over the dennis gross one. Though the Amazon one has a very bright color led compared to dennis gross, but I'm not sure how or if color hue matters with leds. I did get some of the 111skin rose gold masks super cheap on eBay to try and I have to say... You can do better. It's just like any other hydrogel mask with a very thick, luxurious feel. Remember to save the serum in your sheet mask pouches!
The way Lucy is rubbing her face so aggressively after pin pointing where to put that hyperpigmentation serum like it’s all just mixing together at this point haha
I feel like the iron oxides in foundations add extra protection and the fragrance in most foundations and red dyes from blushes are the culprit for the breakoit. Hope youll make a video about fragrance free foundations / bb cream with high iron oxide.
Susan!! I absolutely agree with you! My skin does worse when I don’t wear makeup. I think it’s because the makeup acts as a protective barrier from the pollution and dirty air of the world. Totally agree with you!!

Also, according to Dr. Youn, he said that a moisturizer is only to make your skin soft, there are no benefits to using it. So yes, it makes your skin LOOK and FEEL softer but it doesn’t really “DO” anything. (Like HA, AHA, BHA, niacinamide, etc.) What are your thoughts on that?
Hello everyone! Can any of you help me with a body care question? If I want to treat hyperpigmentation on my body, in addition to sunscreen, can I use a physical exfoliant and still see good results or do I need to use a chemical exfoliant?
Exactly! I had oily skin till my thirties and then I suffered cystic acne and, after that I was obssesed with avoiding the possibiliy of having that problem again so I didn't use humectants and kept on buying products for oily skin when I finally realize that i didn't have oily skin anymore; but it took me a while, and a dermatholigist, to asume that my skin type had changed.
I used that one and it's not supposed to be that orange. It's so oxidized, she doesn't even know it 😩 Looks like she exposed the bottle at light or air too much because mine doesn't oxidized and usually lasts for 3 months
I have combination-dehydrated skin, but we the use of the right skincare, it almost looks normal. Of course it changes with the seasons, but it's waaaay better than before!
So I always struggle with having tiny traces of mascara on my undereye in the mornings. I double cleanse, and even soak my lashes with an eye makeup remover on a cotton pad for 30 seconds before cleansing. I am not sure what else to do at this point and am convinced it's just because my lashes are so thick. Any pointers?
There are some medical shampoo's for eye area only. I've started to using them. I didn't try with mascara on but i think it can help. But of course because it is medical you should consult to professionals.

Vitamin C serums darken over time. It's probably (hopefully) almost gone. If it's that color when you first purchase it then it's been sitting on the shelf too long.
Help! Does anyone know if the S.O.S facial spray from Tower 28 has a bad reaction when mixed with glycolic acid?? Because I totally wasn’t thinking and used both and now I’m scared my skin is going to fall off
I think that's true about makeup, I wear less often last few years coz home alot but I wouldn't say my skin is better, I wonder is it a extra protection layer especially when outside, even with spf,the amount off pollution on skin when I cleanse. Maybe the light foundation helped so not attaching to naked skin
Susan, kindly tell us what products/treatments would you recommend for removing deep set black heads? For I reckon the chemical exfoliants may not be able to get them out. 😅🤓 Also is there anything in your regime you use to keep them at bay altogether?
Timeless brand on Amazon has a good Skin Ceuticals dupe w/ 20% L-absorbing acid (Vitamin C), Ferulic Acid, and Vitamin E for a fraction of the price. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps build collage, but no one really knows how much we are absorbing and getting into our skin topically 🤷🏻♀️, but everything helps. The Ferulic acid and Vitamin E, extend the life of the Vitamin C.
I wonder if the iron oxides in your makeup are what's making your skin look better? If you normally don't wear a tinted sunscreen it could be the iron oxides your missing protecting from visible light

It’s funny you said the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic smells like hot dog water because I just got this Vichy Liftactiv vitamin C serum and it smells just like that! Interesting 🧐
I also find that my skin looks better when I wear makeup more often and I think it's because I make sure to cleanse better if I have make up on. I also might be inclined to skin the night routine if all I have is sunscreen but if I have make up on I will make sure it gets done.

There are some medical shampoo's for eye area only. I've started to using them. I didn't try with mascara on but i think it can help. But of course because it is medical you should consult to professionals.
Susan could you do a video on masks especially good sheet masks?
“You wanna slather that shit on” is my favorite line.
I recommend hot and flashy on RUclips. I have followed her advice and I love all products I have tried that she recommend. Most stuff is affordable too.
Also she has a video about the led at home therapy. Id like to try it myself.
My skin has been great
Yes, Angie’s Chanel is awesome!!
Hey susan, you are like my beauty guru. I needed a small advice from you. I am in my late 20’s now. I have been wanting to buy Nuface micro current. I am not sure if I should invest in it now or should I do it in my 30’s. Please help guru 😉.
Sending in loads of love to ayla she’s my favourite 😍
Someone send this to Lucy!!!!! She’s so sweet I bet she would actually benefit from seeing this video, her routine needs constructive criticism and more sunscreen!!!! She needs to know 😂😂😂💕
Is the Skinceuticals vitamin C serum supposed to be that orange?
Not sure about that product specifically, never tried it. But I know it’s not supposed to be a dark brown color
Because I totally wasn’t thinking and used both and now I’m scared my skin is going to fall off
"SLATHER THAT SHIT ON!" HAHAHHA YASSS HONEY!
Using BHA is a great way to treat them
clay masks, steaming and softening them and more chemical exfoliate
Timeless brand on Amazon has a good Skin Ceuticals dupe w/ 20% L-absorbing acid (Vitamin C), Ferulic Acid, and Vitamin E for a fraction of the price.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps build collage, but no one really knows how much we are absorbing and getting into our skin topically 🤷🏻♀️, but everything helps.
The Ferulic acid and Vitamin E, extend the life of the Vitamin C.
Love your videos Susan!!!
I wonder if the iron oxides in your makeup are what's making your skin look better? If you normally don't wear a tinted sunscreen it could be the iron oxides your missing protecting from visible light
“I’m obsessed with skincare!”
**knows nothing about skincare**
I kinda wanna see Susan do a reaction for Mommie Dearest's beauty routine now
If I use tretenoin at night, do I have to clean my face in the am?
Hi Susan - LED Mask wearer here! you should typically only wear the Mask after cleansing and only on a clean face. This is common guidance for LED masks and for anyone reading this - please do NOT use serums, acids, retinols etc under the mask.
Please do a skincare collaboration video with James welsh,Gothamista,Cassandra bankson & Beauty within
Please do a nail & lipcare video & also a bridal skincare routine
Please include routine finder for easy purchase of products in ur brand please
Thoughts on the Youth to the People 15% Vitamin C + Clean Caffeine Energy Serum?
It’s funny you said the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic smells like hot dog water because I just got this Vichy Liftactiv vitamin C serum and it smells just like that! Interesting 🧐
definitely one of the more bizarre routines on HB/vogue...
So true about peppermint! It breaks me out.
Oh do Ashley Benson’s pleaaaaseeee! 🖤
I also find that my skin looks better when I wear makeup more often and I think it's because I make sure to cleanse better if I have make up on. I also might be inclined to skin the night routine if all I have is sunscreen but if I have make up on I will make sure it gets done.
Please review Karlie Kloss' skincare routine (she has a lot of different videos on this)
I love your skincare reaction videos! Just one thing the chopping of your videos is getting a little extreme, it’s starting to feel like you are saying one word the cutting to another clip for the next word. Like one of those clips that make politicians look like they are saying naughty things 😅
fun fact Sasha Pieterse who played Alison was just 12 years old when she was casted in PLL
Wasn't she 14? Because I know that Troian (Spencer) was 25 and she is 11 years older than Sasha. Ash and Lucy were 21 and Shay Mitchell was 23 I think. Still, 14 was the only age appropriate casting on that show.
I'd never wore Mascara before and went to work the next morning after not taking it off the night before and my eyes were so red, irritated and shedding tears. I chose to just do dishes and was in the back of the restaurant looking crazy and hurtTinGGgg. It was all the shards of dry mascara just irritating my eyes so bad.
If my skin gets better from not wearing makeup, it would make me wonder if there is some sort of sensitivity or allergy. That or if you're not taking all of the makeup off completely, it might be a cause of irritation...
Maybe allergic to some of the ingredients in there?
Thank you for this reaction! I only disagree with what you said about not wearing makeup. It probably is very personal but my skin feels and looks much better when I haven't been wearing makeup almost throughout all of 2020! I do enjoy wearing makeup now more than ever though 😄 Obviously, we are still in lockdown in the UK and I don't wear makeup at home but I have done it a few times in 2020 and felt like a proper treat 😄👄
What skincare product should I use to get rid of textured skin and dark spots? Who thinks she should make a video about what facial masks to use
