I am a model and I have done NYFW shows. Makeup artists backstage are NOT careful with their brushes at all even at the most prestigious shows! I got terrible bacterial infection from one of them. And I know more girls who had similar problems. They always do touch ups pretty much right before each girl comes out, and there are about 30 models in the show. They just take one brush and powder all models with that one single brush. It’s not the same with the photoshoots, when you have only 3 models and more time.
And yet if they washed their face thoroughly within a few hours of the show, it wouldn’t make a difference that the artists reused the brush-they’d never break out just for that reason alone.

this is a guess! but i think sunscreen is generally a thicker formula which makes moisturizer first better because u want it to “sink in” to ur skin but suncreen will sit on top. & youre also supposed to give the sunscreen time to set before going onto makeup so i think at that point putting primer and foundation is ok!
@Sam B For what I understand, it's because of the way they're formulated. Moisturizers are meant to sink into the skin and even penetrate if they have actives in it or hydrating ingredients. But sunscreen needs to form an even layer on the skin to work properly (that's why you have to wait 5-20mins before sun exposure) so you're kind disrupting the set of it if you apply a product on top that's meant to penetrate. The formula might disintegrate the sunscreen layer for various reasons, from the penetration-enhancer ingredients to the emollients or oils that then would work like a cleansing balm, removing the sunscreen. On the other hand, makeup and primers are formulated to stay ON TOP of the skin, not sink in like skin care products. So if you let the sunscreen protective layer form before applying these products, they shouldn't disrupt it so much. Sorry for the long answer hope it helps! :)
The way i understand is, the sun is so effective that the suncreen has to be a barrier and when you mix it up you change it, so you apply less and dont have control on how even the sunscreen is
And I would like to see her react to Dr Shereene Idriss’s routine too but I have a feeling she won’t because I noticed they unfollowed each other on IG.

hey Susan! so if I'm to wear makeup in the morning, should it be sunscreen -> rich moisturizer -> foundation?? or is it still moisturizer then sunscreen? thanks in advance! 💖
Melissa: "There can be properties in the moisturizer that could inactivate ingredients in the sunscreen,” warns Dr. Turegano. To mitigate potential sun damage, she recommends taking things one step at a time by letting a product sit and absorb before moving onto the next. But to get the full picture, you’ll need to understand the types of sunscreens and how they function. SPF is divided into two camps, physical and chemical, and works two different ways: Like a sponge or like a shield. Physical sunscreens-also called mineral sunscreens or sunblock-contain minerals (like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) that create a barrier on your skin to block out harmful rays. Chemical sunscreens, on the other hand, contain active ingredients like avobenzone to absorb the sun's rays and release it in the form of heat. When you mix your SPF with another medium like moisturizer, you run the risk of diluting your sunscreen’s effectiveness or canceling it out altogether. While it might seem like an easy DIY hack at the moment, we promise it’s not worth the possible repercussions." ipsy(dot)com/blog/spf-or-moisturizer-first
Hi Susan, Suzan here. What is your take on dimethacone, liquid plastic???? How is that ok. I use without and pay a pretty penny for it. Good day. Love from Denmark Copenhagen 😘❤
Elta MD was the most expensive sunscreen fail for my skin. I broke out in an extremely bad textured rash all over my face within 24 hours. Needless to say I gave it away in 48 hours. Have had better luck with the centella green level unscented sunscreen.
So just an FYI, a test was just done on that sunscreen and Purito is in some hot water because it was found it actually is only SPF 19, not 50 like they're claiming due to only having two filters. I'm still using it indoors because I have it, but it's not as effective as it's supposed to be for outdoor use
@@xosecox12 SPF 15 protects against 95% of UV rays, SPF 50 protects against 98% so it's really not that different. You're still going to be protected, you just might need to apply more or do it more frequently!
Taking anyone’s recommandation If the UV indicator for the day is 0 and it’s cloudy or raining, do I need to wear sunscreen for the hour I’m going to be outside ?
I think it is still better to put sunscreen on but you don’t have to reapply it as often as you would in summer and you can use a lower spf. At least, that’s what I do on those days :)
"If the UV indicator for the day is 0 and it’s cloudy or raining, do I need to wear sunscreen for the hour I’m going to be outside ?" YES. You can get sunburned on a cloudy day and through windows. Easy to google this info.
Hey Susan, do you have input on the purito centella sunscreen information that recently came out? (Check James’ insta story). Supposedly the bottle says SPF 50, PA++++. But after testing it’s only SPF 19. Thoughts?? 🤭🤔🤔
I can guarantee you that a lot of the makeup artists do not clean their brushes like they should and a lot of the models do not clean their face like they should. But even those who clean their face we’ll end up having a difficult time with their skin. It goes both ways and it’s not fair to blame only one side. The best thing about covid is that now the standard for clean brushes is way up.
Bacterial skin infections develop when bacteria enter through hair follicles. Cleaning the face within a few hours won't get that bacteria out. And it's an industry problem that make-up artists should take responsibility for. The models shouldn't be victims of others spreading infections. Good that covid is helping with protocol.
Please do a skincare collaboration video with James welsh,Gothamista,Vanita Rattan,Cassandra bankson & Beauty within Please do a nail, lipcare video & also a bridal skincare routine Please include routine finder for easy purchase of products in ur brand please
I know you’re anti DIY masking but I have heard/read about a lot of professionals in the skincare industry say that Manuka honey as a mask is a great asset to skincare. Do you think that is ineffective as well?
You actually had a doctor on your chanel saying she prefers sunscreen first in direct contact with skin. I’m guessing someone told her she should do it in that order. I’ve heard a lot of different opinions on that topic. From what I gather, it depends on the type of the sunscreen you’re using. Mineral last, chemical first. Even now, I googled it and top two answers I got dissagree
“If you’re using a chemical sunscreen, it should be applied before the moisturizer, since the sunscreen needs to get absorbed into the skin,” says Dr. Turegano. Physical sunscreens, on the other hand, should be applied after your morning skincare products, but before makeup. (Right now we’re loving SUPERGOOP! Mineral Sheerscreen SPF 30.) So, here’s the derm-approved equation: Chemical sunscreen is applied before moisturizer, while physical sunscreen should be the last step of your skincare routine. Still confused how your morning routine should look? Start from your lightest to heaviest products: cleanser first, followed by toner or essence, then antioxidant serums such as vitamin C (which should be given time to absorb), and then, depending on your sunscreen type, either moisturizer or sunscreen (or vice versa)." ipsy(dot)com/blog/spf-or-moisturizer-first

Can you please do a video about Dr barbara sturm products! Been thinking about buying a couple of her products, but I’m not for sure if it’s worth the money! She also did her routine for harper's bazaar YT channel
If you hold it for 15 min it's probably not terrible but I see no way it would be "good", if that were the case we would wash our whole skincare routine down after 15 min aswell, absorbtion does not stop at 15 min, if it stays on the skin it will continue plus water does dry out the skin too so it's better to leave the serum on.

Susan. I really hope that you do a review of jlo beauty. Her products look interesting. Whether the woman has had work done or not she still looks ridiculous. So I am curious about her line.
i mix my mandelic acid with my moisturizer is that a problem?
I want to know the difference between her mixing the products together and mixing the product when you put them on your face?
Can you further explain the 'not mixing bu layering'? I just see layering as mixing on your face instead of in your hand. And why would suscreen work better as the last layer?
I do these things correctly, but still wonder.
Btw is cleanse-serum-nightcream-rosehip oil a good simple nighttime routine? I recently added the oil because of dryness.
I’m LIVING for the profanity in this video😂😂
"maybe even plastic surgeons" lmao
I mean...let's not pretend that they don't go to them lmao. Every single one of them does with kendall and Kourtney probably being the ones with the least amount of stuff done
Actually Kourtney has had a decent amount of plastic surgery herself!! She's just the one that has made it the most subtle, beautiful job in my opinion. Lory Hill just made a video about it, highly recommend (:
As an Esthetician I am so very confused how out of order this is also...Thin to thick and SPF closest to the sun BOOM done.
It's called *entertainment*. She's a Kardashian. Everything on camera is strategic. The Kardashians perfected the art of making money this way.
Tumeric and honey works though or ground aspirin and honey
Can you use makeup primer over spf or should SPF come after-is the key to primer after SPF just giving the sunscreen time to truly “set”? Thx!
hey Susan! so if I'm to wear makeup in the morning, should it be sunscreen -> rich moisturizer -> foundation?? or is it still moisturizer then sunscreen? thanks in advance! 💖
Sunscreen should always be the last step of your skincare, then makeup.
While it might seem like an easy DIY hack at the moment, we promise it’s not worth the possible repercussions." ipsy(dot)com/blog/spf-or-moisturizer-first
susan’s cheekbones>>>
Right?!? That structure 😊
I think she has fillers
So besides her messed up routine, she wastes an entire makeup wipe just for her lips??? Has she never heard of a lip scrub??
@mixed makeup can you do a routine to rid of nose blackheads? 🙏🏻😭 I’ve seemed to try everything- BHA and etc but they’re still there and it’s annoying
Thanks for the tips I love skincare and I am going to try to do the order that you say so my products are effective and not wasted👏❤️
LOOOOVVVVEEEE your makeup in this video! 😍
Hi Susan, Suzan here. What is your take on dimethacone, liquid plastic???? How is that ok. I use without and pay a pretty penny for it.
Good day. Love from Denmark Copenhagen 😘❤
Her using such moisturising products I’d imagine she went on accutane at some point
@@xosecox12 Can you link where you read that? I am just about to crack open my new tube of that and I'll save it for "indoor only" days if so.
@@xosecox12 SPF 15 protects against 95% of UV rays, SPF 50 protects against 98% so it's really not that different. You're still going to be protected, you just might need to apply more or do it more frequently!
could you react to the "go to bed with Phoebe Tonkin" from Bazaar? i would love to see that
What lip products are you wearing, Susan? Such a pretty red on you!
Taking anyone’s recommandation
If the UV indicator for the day is 0 and it’s cloudy or raining, do I need to wear sunscreen for the hour I’m going to be outside ?
Yes, UV light gets through even on cloudy days. However, in this case you don’t need a strong sunscreen. 30 will be more than sufficient.
I think it is still better to put sunscreen on but you don’t have to reapply it as often as you would in summer and you can use a lower spf. At least, that’s what I do on those days :)
Thank you ! I had people kinda question me on it but I would rather keep my routine of putting it on every day than check if I REALLY need it or not
"If the UV indicator for the day is 0 and it’s cloudy or raining, do I need to wear sunscreen for the hour I’m going to be outside ?" YES. You can get sunburned on a cloudy day and through windows. Easy to google this info.
Any foundation recommendations?
She's so calm😌😌 i love her personality
I need to know what nail Polish Susan is wearing ! Does anyone know ?
I look forward to hopefully hearing more about foundations in the future 😀
Love these videos!!!💕💕
I bet her skin would be looking completely different if she wasn’t seeing skincare professionals on the regular. This was very confusing.
It's called entertainment. She's a Kardashian. Everything on camera is strategic.

I know you’re anti DIY masking but I have heard/read about a lot of professionals in the skincare industry say that Manuka honey as a mask is a great asset to skincare. Do you think that is ineffective as well?
Have you used Venn yet???
Start from your lightest to heaviest products: cleanser first, followed by toner or essence, then antioxidant serums such as vitamin C (which should be given time to absorb), and then, depending on your sunscreen type, either moisturizer or sunscreen (or vice versa)." ipsy(dot)com/blog/spf-or-moisturizer-first
Why even do these masks if you're going to wash them off with a cleanser immediately??
Cassandra found out the collagen masks are $425 for 8 pack!!! And then Kendall just washes it right off when she uses her cleanser AFTER. lol
@@mwyman05 that's over $50 a mask!!! And here I hesitate buying $5 sheet masks
@@shivika1000 You can spend $50 on a mask when your net worth is $45 million
Pharrell Williams next !!!
I'm confused on the order she did her SPF etc.. it's common sense to put the SPF at the end right?
I love your lipstick in this vid, Susan!
I’ve been waiting for this since seeing her video. I turned her video off because she put a sheet mask on and then WASHED her face!!!! Like what the F?! lol!! I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed that.
Dr vanita Rattan also talked about makeup and skin care. If anyone is interested, she made a video reviewing makeup on the standpoint of skin health. Very good to watch
Im too early idk what to say. Hi Susaaaan!!!!! ❤️
Can you please do a video about Dr barbara sturm products! Been thinking about buying a couple of her products, but I’m not for sure if it’s worth the money! She also did her routine for harper's bazaar YT channel
I actually saw somewhere that it's good to cleanse your sheet mask off, bc what your skin will absorb would've already absorbed in the 15 mins?
If you hold it for 15 min it's probably not terrible but I see no way it would be "good", if that were the case we would wash our whole skincare routine down after 15 min aswell, absorbtion does not stop at 15 min, if it stays on the skin it will continue plus water does dry out the skin too so it's better to leave the serum on.
It depends on the mask. Some masks are overnight while you're sleeping. Always follow the directions.
