Making Beer From Scrapple: Craftwerk Dogfish Head
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 ноя 2015
- Sam Calagione is one the forefathers of the craft beer revolution. His brewery Dogfish Head, founded in 1995, now produces over 175,000 barrels of beer annually, growing nearly 400 percent between 2003 and 2006. We traveled down to their massive headquarters in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware, to have Sam show us their very impressive operation. We also visited their brewpub to whip up a scrapple-based beer Sam has been thinking up for quite some time. Enjoy this inside look into one of the world's biggest craft breweries. I agree with Wayne, it's hard to beat a good barley wine.
Great video! Dogfish Head make rad beer and it was fun to get a look at their brewery.
Finishing up my 1st batch of Hellfire IIPA with 12ozs of hops from US, UK & NZ, with ghosts, fatalii's & scorpions. It's dry hopping & dry peppering now! Got most of the ingredients for my rendition of the old German mumme' that'll go down soon as well! Like to try the scrapple beer...sounds like liquid breakfast!
Fucking love this guy....
"gotta keep pinchin pennies man"
A Trip to this brewery is a huge dream for me!
I've never been a huge fan of DFH but have always respected the drive to create something new and different. I too would one day like to open a brewery and have it be 100% project/experimental brews.
This is the best brewery I've ever been too. Well worth the drive from Boston.
You had me at Scrapple. I want some! Thank you Dogfish Head for revolutionizing american beer! Imported beer used to be a thing in America. Now, all I want is American Craftbeer!
I still remember that scrapple beer best cost per beer 6 pack for a stout I bought in a long time wish I could still get it was awesome!
Ate there last time i was in rehoboth. Grilled salmon sandwich, was awesome, paired with a 60 minute, it just hit the spot so well. Great guys
Seems like a chill dude to work for.
it just makes your life better the more that people can see that the more everyone will enjoy
exactly you guys are steping up to the new level i buy your beers all the time when i i have a fucked up day im ready the next day
Gotta love Sam.
He is craftbeer america.
Great beer. Great brewery to visit.
The "Fuck you/High five" @7:40 part sums up my life's philosophy and I think it's a very nice way of putting it.
This place just went on my bucket list
always loved these guys...cant get my hands on it in canada though
this guy is living the life, i can see myself doing this for the rest of my life
As a fellow brewer, I wish I could give this video 5000 thumbs up!
Enjoyed this episode. And yes I agree with the poster below where is Matty and where is Huang????
FINALLY SOMETHING FROM MY STATE DELAWARE
I like his "Get in the Van" reference. He does kinda remind me of the Henry Rollins of the craft beer world.
so if the beer made with scrapple is ready I wanna try it. would also cook with it. where can it be found?
I drink too much of your beer to be that motivated
Yay!! GO DELAWARE! Scrapple? FUCK YEAH.
Yeeah..
+Alex Daughdrill Yeeeeah...
CutTheFat such a filthy mouth for such a large woman. Brute much?
Beer for breakfast stout. Had one a few days ago, pretty good.
I fucking love this guy.
Sam is my hero, raddest dude there ever was! His series on Discovery was cool, too bad they pulled it because Bud threatened to pull their advertisements from the channel.. How it goes... Watch his TED talks, pretty awesome.
This dude is fucking inspirational.
haha! the hoopty neon signs out front, just screaming it out for the public to see
Sam is the fucking man
Check out free state brewery in Lawrence Kansas really good beer!
This bruh gets it
Nooo, the beerstore/LCBO doesn't carry Dogfish here in this part of Southern Ontario :(
It makes me so sad that the only beer to make it over to the UK is old IPA. Would love to try this guy's beers fresh.
+The Craft Beer Channel some of his beer benefits from a bit of aging... btw which one of the ipas made it over? 60 minute?
+The Craft Beer Channel Then why dont you contact him you do have a following of 31k. You test the booze giving him spotlight you drink the booze free of charge everyone wins.
+Derek Cox we should definitely drop him a line!
+David Brailsford yeah the 60 minute - still a great beer!
+The Craft Beer Channel yeah its definitely the most approachable of their beers to people coming from other breweries (at least since they stopped bottling shelter pale ale)
I know nothing about Delaware but I'm pretty sure Dogfish Head is the best thing that happened to that state
I recommend beer to drink music to.awesomeness
get in the van true punker this beer rocks
that dude with the long hair looks like chuck norris
LWStupidus well you know Chuck Norris would drink barley wine.
I love dogfish head, Chikoree stout is the freaken best.
Dude u gotta send more dogfish 120s up to the Poconos, the only way to get them up here is to be friends with a distributor
+Lamb chop This years 120 is a little too hot IMO. But still a must have when it hits the shelves.
Has anyone has the scrapple stout they made??
I fucking love beer
Hes the grown up version of the long haired surfer dude from Big Hero 6.
HEATHCLIFFE ! MY MAN !
Dogfish 120 Minute is the fucking bomb!
So no dogfish head?
Smashes phone
Stomps skateboard
Tröegs next?
Best IPAs in my opinion plus dragons and yum yums and midas touch are good
Joseph Forgey Yess the Lupu Luao is my favorite ipa. Haven’t tried dragons and yum gums though. I can’t find it anywhere
@@flabergastedfred i can ship some to you, where do you live? Maybe we can beer trade.
Cole Heideman that would be great! I live in New York. I can send you a can of Sixpoint Dabble I have in the fridge. Limited release
I have 2 left actually
4:36 interesting.
nice beer belly
I dont think dogfish head gets the respect they deserve in the beer community. I have not disliked any beer they created. Their campfire amplifier is the most creative beer I have ever had. I love it. The Hazy O is my new favorite beer. The slightly mighty is a wonderful light ipa. 60 90 and 120 ipa are legendary. Sea quench is the only beer I drink on the beach.
Maryland bruh here. Fuck yeah Scrapple.
This is the most DE shit I’ve ever seen, I love it
1:34 they have chuck norris working there uh-oh super manly beers then
I've been trying to taste the "Midas Touch"
Was this guy a actor or something? He looks familiar.
The god brewer
Fuck yeah, I also have a college degree and no high school diploma. And I also enjoy brewing, though I can't say that I can do it to Sam Calagione's level.
Man that's a lot of pipework - you guys need pigging!
"A very nice hi, fuck you." lol
The reinheitsgebot law only applies to bottom fermented beer. However pork in beer. Really? American C Hops popular with homebrewers but rarely found in pub beer here in England.
i don't know where you got that, but it's false. The Reinheitsgebot originated in a time where they didn't know what yeast was or did. That's why it's not mentioned in the Reinheitsgebot und also why applied to both bottom and top fermentation. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to get a traditional Kölsch brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot.
@@jeanrepal Why do people insist on making stuff up they have no idea about?
@@dampaul13 not sure, ask the guy
The Reinheitsgebot is a milestone in world history and made beer what it is today for a lot of reasons but it just not translating in today's times.
Because of it the beer makers in Germany has reduced their competition to price and image. There is very little difference in taste and variety, the only deciding point is the lower price and if that particular brand speaks to people from a certain region.
What this has done is drive beer quality to a stable but also taste and variety. Basically it's all the same crap that has good enough quality and recipe for a mass product but nothing else going on for it. People aren't willing to pay more for beer, everybody is just looking at the price point.
This means there is very little space for small breweries. No place for experiments, no chance of a bigger, more complex experiment and development of different things.
Ironically Americans, the people with the shittiest beer of all times have now taken the lead.
Do you have any sources for this or is this just your impression? My gf is german and i am a homebrewer, I have a bit of a dream of moving there and brewing American style craft beer professionally, because the craft market is smaller there with more room to grow, but competing with german domestics is a whole different ballgame vs american domestics.
Also the reinheitsgebot killed local styles and old gruits and stuff which isn't necessarily great.
@@copsarebastards just ask stone berlin lmao
great comercials, marketing and beers
How does one get a college degree without putting a period on high school? The first thing I had to do was produce my high school transcript...
Their Namaste White is basically Blue Moon but better
I want to Brew Beer
He looks like Freddie prince jr
Didn’t know the Rock worked for Sam
bro Broooo Brah bruh nice
Dogfish Dude
The Reinheitsgebot is not an actual law, you can brew whatever you want. But you wouldn't be allowed to call it beer
If all that came from someone else I would have considered it some hipster bullshit.
Somehow there's something about this laid back dude that makes him likable.
I just can't really put my finger on it though.
+Mugen0445 "Hipsters" are outsiders in the brewing scene. They just drink the beer and pretend that they know all about it.
Beer Pub guy more a Chuck Norris than a Dwayne Johnson, there ...
Meat in stout! A a English Guinness lover I must say I'm disappointed that you have mess with a craft that is brewing by putting pork in it! ................ And making it a plane ride away! I want to try it NOW!
Im not sure how i feel about having ''scrapple'' in beer.
DWAYNE JOHNSON WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Plastic cups??? fuck that.
didnt know dwayne "the white rock" johnson worked at dogfish
Dwayne "Chuck Norris" Johnson
Didn't know Chuck Norris worked for a bar..
I prefer water.
baltika looks like nothing according to this
Reminds me of a young Henry Rollins.
thinking outside the box in brewing is asking for botulism
botulism tends to stray away from liquids that are boiled for an hour homie...
scrapple is American made
Scrapple is a Philly thing. Thank you DFH for your beer.
he looks like a skinny version of Henry Rollins
Scrapple is a bit like hog head cheese isn't it? Wtf lol..
Henry Rollins is that you?
+savvadev Yes.
he totally sounds like Tommy Chong
West Coast runs the craft beer culture!
Pork mush beer? :(
Tried scrapple twice willingly. Never again.
+Dom's Sketch Cast Why are you under every video I watch? Are you a bot or what? ;)
Yeah. Beep beep boop. See you on the next one buddy.
+Dom's Sketch Cast I've always wondered what it tastes like, since it looks so fucking disgusting and people willing eat it. Then again, people eat... tripe, and pigs feat, and fish heads, and fermented everything... eww,
Scrapple tastes like breakfast sausage mixed with Fritos. It's disgusting, in a delicious way.
Scrapple is food of the Gods. It's a mid Atlantic thing.
scrapple is the most mid atlantic food ever
