Craftwerk: Brooklyn Brewery

- In our inaugural episode of our new series Craftwerk, we meet the people behind Brooklyn Brewery. Steve Hindy, the founder and chairman, fell in love with homebrewing during his time in the Middle East as a war correspondent, and Garrett Oliver, the brewmaster, discovered his passion while he was a rock band manager in London. While Steve and Garrett got into beer in unconventional ways (a common theme in the world of brewing), the two were clearly meant for this craft. Brooklyn Brewery has been a major player in revitalizing the craft beer movement in New York City and around the world.

Discovered Garrett Oliver 4 days ago from the RUclips video (beer expert guesses cheap vs expensive beer)
just came from that video. i like Brooklyn brewery even more now haha
Making the same steps here...
I've been in the beer biz for 8 years. He's been a constant source of inspiration and entertainment.
Same, but I found him about an hour ago.
Me too. He was so good in that video, it made me search for more videos.
Very casually "Oh don't mind me... I just have this totally wild, incredibly fascinating international backstory... now I just brew beer" lolololol. I'd love an entire video on just his whole life.
he smells like ex cia to me.
Man, i love seeing people really into what they do, so much passion.
+Derek Thomas A life devoid of the pursuit for ones passion, is no life at all!!!!! A life spent in pursuit of one's passion, is the quintessence of a meaningful life!!!!!!
+Derek Thomas I agree! I find a lot people in America are like that!
agreed :)
Shehaaz Saif land of opportunity
Garrett has the most charismatic timbre to his voice
This is why I am subscribed to this channel.

Glad that people now treat beer appreciation on par with wine appreciation.
The kitchen paired with beer is brilliant.
Their Black Chocolate Imperial Stout is absolutely incredible.
This place is awesome. Anyone in the area who hasn't checked it out should. On Friday nights you can get 5 beers for $20.
+Big Willy I will now thanks to the vital information you provided.
Teddy's?
He had that crust on his elbow during the entire video lol passion is the best distraction
@Garret
Watched you on that price guessing show. Was so impressed by you that I had to see more. Here I am and I'm NOT disappointed 👍👍😊
This made me remember why I wrote my thesis about beer, and why I want to pursue a career in this beautiful industry. :)

The Brooklyn Local #2 is no joke! Love their brews. Part of the greatness of living in NY.
Garret is using a FrangÓs tshirt. Its a classic restaurant/craft beer place here in Brazil. Much love for Brooklyn's beers.
Amazing!
Oh to be able to sit down with either of those guys and just talk for a few hours. I'm sure it would make for some of the most interesting conversation of my life.
Wow, his beer story began in London. Surprised me, yet not entirely surprising!
Still the best episode to date...
Thank you for caring so much about making life delicious.
This is basically one of the best jobs in the world, working for a successful brewery. I envy these guys more than they will ever know.
great cover!
Nice video. Was this filmed in 2014/15 ? I think I saw Garrett at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO in 2005 -- he was pouring their beer ... 1+ oz. tastes ! Also, Sam Calagioni from Dogfish was pouring their beers. Jim Koch was not pouring his Boston Brewing beer, but I received an almost precise 1 oz. of Utopias ... 😛
That woman said she had a master’s degree from Harriot Watt, I'm from Edinburgh, I had no idea we had a brewers and distillers course in Scotland…
When Steven Spielberg and Carlton Banks make beer........

garret is an awesome person!
More Craftwerk please :)
lovely to do something you love as a job
The personalities behind these 'brews,' although I haven't tasted them, seems to give you the mental undertone of taste. That look you have when you try a new ale lager or stout. The holding your breath, looking down at your palette as you suck the brew from the tip of your tounge, and then inhale as it rolls around your whole flavor spectrum with the carbonation, followed by the clean bitter or sweet alcohol aftertaste. Honestly, my whole thing with beers is a make out session. Don't get me wrong, I like drinking and chatting with very close friends, but most of all, I enjoy my affair with beer...and the new hot bartender that knows more about beer than you and I ever will. Also, thank got for garlic tater tots and pork bun burgers :P
I dont drink beer but Garrett has me starting a beer video spree
Dude sounds like Dave chapelle the white news anchor version
need more craftwerk videos
