Really nice to see the US getting on the "pub" rather than the "bar" bandwagon. They're much more friendly, interesting and family orientated places that actually give out a good impression of the alcohol they serve. It's a lot of fun
As a european, avid homebrewer and craft beer lover, I just want to confirm, that all "brewing world" is watching US beer revolution with open mouths (since few good years, actually). That's just amazing and awesome!!!! Cheers!!!!
What craft beer has done is given us choices and shown us that there is a whole new world out there besides just the one style offered to American beer drinkers for so many years. Until I started home brewing, my go to was Keystone Light... won't touch it anymore. If you want to know what the best beer is, I'd say it's whatever you prefer. I definitely am a much bigger fan of craft beer than anything offered by the macro breweries. But, I can sit down with a friend and enjoy a nice IPA while they have their Miller Lite, etc...and it's all cool.
Great video! Thanks. I began home brewing 3 years ago, doing so opened up a whole new world of beer appreciation. I was a BMC beer drinker, and still have them occasionally, but craft beer is like taking an around the world taste trip. Porters, stouts, Hefe's, sours, flavored, spiced, blackened, IPA's, IIPA's, the list and variations go on and on. And you can make them, economically. Not all are great, but the vast majority are! If you love beer, home brewing will open up a whole new world to you, and it's never too late, I started at 65.
Jeremy, excellent short. I really hope you are sending this to the festivals. I'm a doc maker, huge beer fan and have been kicked out of the Zeitgeist a few times. Cool you got the Tamale Lady in there. Love Racer Five, Lagunitas & Prohibition. Never been to City Beer. Well made doc!
Create my own brewery is the dream of my life. I'm only a homebrewer nowadays, and here in Brazil the craft beer movement is only in the beggining, but we already have great craft breweries around the country and serious homebrewer associations. Great video, and congratulations for your work.
Im so happy about the craft beer hype! got a good bar with like 20 local craft beers on tap and like 80 in bottles in ,y area and some great craft beer stores and online shops!
If you like craft beer then you should visit Asheville, North Carolina. There are so many craft breweries in that place and the local restaurants there serve those beers. The beer I have drank which was crafted in Asheville have, pretty much, been very good. Highland is a good brand but it’s pretty limited in scope of where you can buy it.
I've tasted wine, vodka, brandy, gin, scotch, rum and all kinds of cocktails and I have to say Beer is one of my favorites; especially when its mixed with honey or maple syrup. Coconut Rum is also really good, as are coolers with low % of alcohol. In the 5-10% range tho, I would have to say beer is by far the best alcoholic bevrage :]
The enthusiasm from these guys is really contagious. I'm just starting this hobby at home and I wish I can go live in the west coast - specifically Washington but I'm Canadian FML ... XD.
Wow! That's just impressive! Even if I'm a German guy still living in Germany I must admit that I would like to visit this bar for some reasons. Many people are inclined to say best beers are always brewed in Germany which is defintitely wrong cause we also do have too many so-called mainstream beers tasting like water and nothing else. Visiting local bars here in the centre of Germany tells the same story: mainstream beers, nothing else. If I wanna buy a special craft beer I also need to purchase it via Internet. You see: it's the same in Germany... Hopfen und Malz - Gott erhalt's! :-) (Hops and Malt - God may preserve it) Hope you unterstood the most part of it :-)
Man this just gives me the warm fuzzies! I wonder if we'll see New Zealand get into a boom like this - obviously not on the same scale but yeah more beer!!!
Love this video! Used to homebrew when I lived in Canada, Never quite made it to full grain mash stage due to money, space and, eventually, time restrictions. Back here in Ireland now for 14 years and those same restrictions apply except for time. However, I plan to win the lottery and move to northern California :0) Best wishes to you all and great respect.
The beer is indeed called Budvar in the Czech Republic, but the location it is originally brewed in is called Budějovice (Budweis). You can read more on Wikipedia (wiki/Budweiser_Budvar_Brewery).
I still dont get why in most parts of the world the beer is served without foam. visit czech republik, germany, austria, belgium or even ireland (where Guinness is proud of there signature foam) they all fill up the glas and have space for foam . it keeps the beer fresh, it tastes good and its just a part of it. all those beers without a nice ( in germany we call it crown) look bad and from my experience taste bad really quick because the co2 escapes faster. This documentation
@@maxhalsted5381 not just guinness. Every beer deserves to be poured properly with a foam head that guarantees that its fresh. If you get a beer without foam in (most of) europe (except uk) the people wouldnt accept because its often a sign for an old beer which was poured a longer time before it was served so it lost its foam and co2.
the short film Alcohology by Calzone Spaceship used a craft brewery for one of their stories... it was pretty good. I heard they also invented their own beer for the movie.
Great doco. Damn, i miss living in the US. In Aus now and in comparison, the scene here sucks and don't get me started on the cost of manufacturing and retail due to tax.
"You're only happy when you work for yourself" the dude spoke the truth
Screw the corporates, support the micro breweries and craft beer makers! Great hopumentary.
Really nice to see the US getting on the "pub" rather than the "bar" bandwagon. They're much more friendly, interesting and family orientated places that actually give out a good impression of the alcohol they serve. It's a lot of fun

Makes me proud to live in CA with all these passionate, successful business owners making delightful beer in my own back yard.
Jesus, i want a beer now

Very well produced, interesting story, and a fantastic endorsement for what American entreprenurial spirit is all about. Congratulations.

Enjoying a “Primus WeizenBock” from Live Oak Brewing out of Live Oak Texas. God bless the craft.
Craft Beer is the American Way! beer culture is increasing happy to see how's the future going to look like for us
Loved the Doc. All the way here in the East Coast we still have our fair share of crafts here, and it is the best type of beer to drink.
Everytime I'm drinking beer, I end up watching a video about beer.
Well done...glad I am a part of this little world of ours
Wow. Good story. I will watch. Tell us about beer taxes.
Very cool doc! Craft beer is now. Craft beer is the future.
great little doc. would love to see more!

very cool. love the local vibe and spotlighting businesses rooted in normal everyday people. Cheers
A nice doc. A better title would've been "San Francisco Craft Beer" as that city represents the entirety of the film's content.
The enthusiasm from these guys is really contagious. I'm just starting this hobby at home and I wish I can go live in the west coast - specifically Washington but I'm Canadian FML ... XD.
Good documentary on craft beer.

That was awesome. I live in the bay area and know all these guys! Hooraaay for beer!!

Sonic84 Germany is still the king of beers and the originators
royal nass :-)
There are great small breweries and bars in Germany as well! They're just not as popular yet, but they do exist and always existed.
The craft beer scene has been on the rise throughout Europe. From my time in Berlin there were quite a few breweries and tap houses to choose from.
I wanna visit all the places portrayed in this documentary.
Craftbeer rocks.
awesome doc
Man this just gives me the warm fuzzies! I wonder if we'll see New Zealand get into a boom like this - obviously not on the same scale but yeah more beer!!!

10:46 - I did notice Stella Artois in the lager section... why?
Stefan Filby ... because its a lager lol
because Stella is a lager
I enjoyed this video quite a bit. Very high quality and had a lot of depth for being only 15 minutes long. Andrew Kent sent me here, by the way.
Great video! Proud to be a frequent City Beer Store and Zeitgeist customer :)
Im getting into craft beer. But I still dig beers like Corona, Bud Light etc.

Here in America it is hard to find a proper pub that knows how to poor guiness correctly
