Regarding that hidden mini quest (featuring an evil boar) - it's something you would miss if you are not Polish (and i guess 30+ years old lol). When Geralt finds the dead body he says something along the lines of (polish version) "who comes across a wild boar in the forest, dies in pain". Which is twisted reference to a song called "dzik jest dziki dzik jest zły" featured in a kids movie called "Akademia Pana Kleksa" (which i would described as East-Europe Hogwarts from early 80s :D )
The funny thing about this is that so many people seem surprised by it (myself included), yet the quest objective is "(Optional) Defeat the Ofieri warriors." So it should have been obvious that something happens if you just choose to run away.
For the pig "boar" quest i think you missed one thing, it triggers if you have not fought a boar up to that moment. "the entire point of that quest is to introduce you to that animal type.
I personally prefer HoS over Blood and Wine. Both are remarkable and exactly what I hope to see regarding a DLC. The reason why I prefer hearts of stone is how they perfectly infused the additional content into the world already being there. Velen is by far my favorite region, because it visualizes the rough barren countryside, ravaged by war, exactly how I imagined from reading the books. So I was really sad when I finished places like Crows Perch, cause they felt so alive during the quests. And that aliveness instantly came back when I started my first HoS playthrough, I did all the vanilla content before starting the DLCs, so recognizing that there was still more to explore in Velen made it my personal favorite even without starting to talk about the beautifully written story and characters.
Blood and Wine appeal to me lies in the contradiction of it's story to its lush setting, but Hearts of Stone is easily my favorite story driven arc in TW3. Keep up the good work.
Hearts Of Stone is definitely my favorite expansion too. The main story with GoD and Olgierd was just too damn gripping. I was literally thinking and dreaming about the whole story throughout the weeks I was playing it (as I usually only have time to play about 1 hour every 2-3 days :D). Just absolutely fascinating and captivating story. Blood and Wine is generally considered the "better" expansion because it's so vast with a whole new area, new stuff to do and a good/great main storyline too. But the main storyline of HoS is just GoDlike.
Same thought here! Hearts of Stone is way shorter, true, but feels even more inspired than Blood and Wine...which is actually very well made in itself, mind you! Still, Gaunter O'Dimm (more like HAUNTER O'Dimm!) and Olgierd & Iris Von Everec's tale were a real masterpiece!
You are sooo thorough in your research, and your presentation is entertaining and informative, far beyond what I expected. I hope you'll take a look that The Whispering Hillock conundrum - whether the Tree Spirit should live or die. One of the few Witcher controversies that will always elicit discussion. Looking forward to more videos.
That scene with Oferi mages setting up a camp makes me feel there is literally no option that wasn't predicted by developers and scripted in a certain way, lol
Hearts of Stone and the whole questline in Velen are my favorite parts in the whole game! I love these little details... who would have thought they would code a camp? So cool 💜
I was getting so frustrated with the mage boss fight I ran away but I didn't stay away long enough. I wish I hadn't saved after finally beating him.. that is such a cool piece of game development... love your video bro... still learning about my favorite game years later... priceless...
wow, the detail about Lambert is sooo cool!! totally love it. how do you think, if you complete the HoS DLC before the Lambert's quest at Kaer Morhen and get that dialogue with the peasant about "some witcher using axii" and then go to do the Lambert's quest, will there be some unique line from Geralt about it after Lambert tells the story? something like "oh I've met some folks who remember you doing that shit"?)) thanks for the video, loved it very much!
Woah, english voice over of Vlodimir is so much worse than polish version. Polish voide actor actually made an effort of talking with two different tones to express the shift of character which made this quest twice as funny.
@@Ghost_overlord2.0 That's not what he said. Polish Geralt's still voiced by the same actor when possessed by Vlodimir, only he doesn't speak in the same monotone voice as Geralt always does. Rather, the actor plays up the over-the-top flirty and confident tone, which makes sense given Vlodimir's personality

I didn't even know the mage was supposed to be a real boss. Maybe that's what happens when you play the game on easy mode. No regrets though. Doing it for the story all the way :P
It is likely to miss that encounter with the boar if we already did 'Without A Trace' contract, which is given by the same herbalist, which then might entice us to use fast travel to his hut instead of traveling on the road. Good finding and thanks for sharing!
Funny. I'm currently reading Season of Storms and I just read the part with the Borsodi Brothers auction today. Though in the book the auction house is in Novigrad, not Oxenfurt.

Regarding B&W vs HoS, I think Blood and Wine manages to "be better" largely from how huge it is. And also I feel it does a fantastic job of being a "victory lap" for the player, as you go through the victory lap for Geralt, which ends with him settling down for a rich happy life, etc... So it's very carefully crafted to engender great satisfaction after all you've been through (even though one of the great things about it IS the fact that it has no "good ending" in, again, a carefully constructed way). It's all bright and colourful and grandiose. It's a great break from **gestures vaguely at Velen and Novigrad**... everything else Hearts of Stone, on the other hand, is more in line with the darker standard for The Witcher 3, and is also considerably smaller. To me, though, it is the most tightly knit part of the final game for sure and it REALLY showed what the devs could do when they didn't have to also put together an entire huge game to go with it. There are fantastic characters everywhere, every scene and beat of that expansion is fantastic and memorable.... Just GoD steals the show whenever he's anywhere near the screen. Plus, "Are you a racist, Reginald?" has got to be the best line of the game (sorry "Radovid playing chess", you'll have to settle for second) So yeah... I still think I feel B&W "is better" overall because of scope and tone and regis and stuff.... but HoS hits pretty much every swing it takes, it's amazing
@@samuelhutahaean2537 It's a tough one for me... I'd say Orianna's dinner and maybe Land of Fables are up there? But yeah, if you're playing Witcher 3 with both expansions, you're spoiled for amazing content. I'd say Gaunter O'Dimm getting mad at being interrupted at the tavern IS my favourite cutscene tho
@@VileLasagna dunno why for me the main quest in B&W feels a little cliche sometimes. To me dead man's party gives us the only opportunity to see geralt as a quite romatically aggresive individual, a chance for geralt to see for himself what if he behaves completely different towards people. And in the same quest we see shani as kinda mix between triss & yen. Sweet & caring like triss, yet rather level headed like yen. What a unique experience
@@samuelhutahaean2537 There is a lot of cliche for sure. I still think it was interesting that Renfry is a core foundational episode for Geralt, but it was never in the games. So a mains quest that is in many aspects a rehash of that actually felt fitting. What I find THE most cliche, actually, is that many people seem to consider the best ending to that questline the one where both sisters make up and everyone lives happily ever after but I actually disagree. Everyone is wrong at some point but I do feel that Detlaff and Regis are victims first and foremost so throwing them under the bus for that ending feels even more unfair than... having another victim die from all of this. So I love that at least. As for the party. I actually found the intense flirting with Shani from geralt super weird and awkward. If you're going through the game you're either sorting out your fake wife/magical girlfriend situation OR have just sorted that out and none of them would look favourably at Geralt then rekindling a flame with "The other triss from the first game". Specially Yen, she has no patience for any of this, this is not an open relationship as far as she's concerned, not at this point, at least So to me that bit felt super tacked on. Vlodimir is great though. No complaints whatsoever
I remember getting frustrated with the fight, I ran away thinking I could fight them later when I get stronger. Then when I eventually came back to the wrecked ship I was very surprised to see that they set up a camp and all of the treasure chests that are normally scattered around were conveniently put together.
Hearts of Stone had a lot of amazing moments. The first real "WOW" moment that I still remember after all these years for me was 'winning' the fight against Olgierd for the first time. When you see him without his head and for a moment go like: "Wait, what?" I remember struggling vs the Oferi mage at first, I tried to run away and I remember that they de-agroed and I was like "guess I'm not supposed to do that" :D Killing him for the first time though did feel satisfying. The only BS thing in HoS was the boss fight vs the regenerating grave-keeper on the hardest difficulty. I remember having everything maxed out and when I ran out of bombs I just couldn't stop him from healing. I tried literally everything and then just decided to lower the difficulty for that 1 fight. To this day I haven't looked up a guide on how you're supposed to 'properly' fight him. Maybe that could be a video idea? Like is that fight too difficult on the highest difficulty setting?
@@markozerdin9784 Hmmm ??? Isn't that fight shown in the video. I think it was like one of the first interactions with Olgierd in HoS. Like the fight came after one of the first quests.

What?! I’ve played through 6 times and I never knew that you could spare them! Though honestly I’ve always thought that quest was off in general because it felt out of character for Geralt to not try and break the curse instead of killing the prince. I feel like enough people referred to it as a curse for him to at least try first.
I'm with you, I much preferred Hearts of Stone to Blood and Wine. It was fun seeing the new world but I found the happy go lucky naivety of the Touissant people frustrating. I understand it fits with the whole fairytale mindset they have, but ESPECIALLY the way the endings work leave me unfulfilled.

Loving the content m8, you go so deep into the quests, I learn a lot of key things I never knew were in the game. Recently got inspired into making Witcher content myself on RUclips thanks to amazing channels like yours. I hope to make interactive video version of all the Witcher quests, where the viewer can choose what Geralt says and does via end screens at the end of every clip. I finished up part 1 of the Hearts of Stone DLC, and almost done with the rest of it, but checking out videos like this really shows me how deep I can go into quests, and hopefully I can add all easter eggs like this into the interactive quests too eventually. Just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration, and keep up the great work! (:
I'll say it once, and Im sure I'll say it again: I have no idea how this is the same studio that also released Cyberpunk. This attention to detail and continuity is absolutely wild
It makes perfect sense that it's the same studio that released Cyberpunk. The game had two major issues: 1) it was overhyped to such an extent that actually delivering on what they promised was physically impossible 2) it is riddled with bugs The first one is a direct consequence of the success of the Witcher. Not only were the gamers overhyped, the developers believes their own hype and got too ambitious. The second one is the result of them realising that what they promised was impossible a little too late, which resulted in not having enough time to fix the technical issues. They became victims of their own success. Remember that all of the Witcher games also changed massively throughout the development. Witcher 2 maybe not so much, but both the first one and the Wild Hunt were redesigned a lot and had tons of features that were promised and never delivered - and noone cared in the end, so they probably assumed the same is going to happen this time as well. Trouble is - this time the expectations were inflated up to the stratosphere. Without the bugs and unrealistic expectations, Cyberpunk is actually a really good game.

As the game beginning was very slow by red baron and the quest line with Keira wasn't all that much fun to me, I was bored and wanted to roam around and unbeknownst to me I was about run into, Gaunter O'Dimm, the charismatic guy from the White Orchard inn. The moment he started talking, I was already interested as he slowly but surely hooked me in. And the only thing I have to say about Hearts of stone is just wow. What an amazing piece of writing and story telling done by CDPR. Thank you CDPR.
There's a mission when you need to kill a witch in a haunted mansion, I'm sure you gonna remember it. After that, Geralt tells the owner he should renovate the home after he fought the golem that was downstairs (I know I said haunted mansion, but that's the mission, actually was a golem in a cave). But, after you finish the mission and run by that exact home you'll see that renovation has begun and there's people working to fix the house. That felt amazing.

If you then return to the southern part of the Docks , some random docks- workers will have a conversation about when Dandelion's bar will eventually open and whether or not the two men want to visit the bar.
Interesting, if that's true, it seems to have been bugged for me. I fought random boars before it, yet still got it
I personally prefer HoS over Blood and Wine.
I've spent hundreds of hours in this game and it still has secrets I haven't uncovered by myself. Thank you for sharing these.
Just one hour? Hmm, have you tried… playing instead of sleeping? xD that’s my favorite fix for not having time to play.
I really do wish we'd get something about the Ofieri, feel like they're ignored and a DLC would be great
Be cool if there was a section in the next game that takes place in Ofier. Maybe even an expansion like B&W.
@@alexanderforbes1452 yes def
Ah, bet on 10 bucks Letalis never found these despite being so obsessed with TW3 contents.
The best part of the DLC to me is hearing Vlodmir Von Everec's flowy words in Geralt's deadpan voice
I actually liked "hearts of stone" more than "blood and wine" too, mostly because of olgierd
What the actual Fu… this is such a cool detail! Can’t believe how you’re digging these up constantly but you have my respect man..
So cool 💜
Ngl I thought I was in a desert when we shipwrecked in a new area. I felt really dumb when I turned around and saw novigrad 😂
same here :D
I was getting so frustrated with the mage boss fight I ran away but I didn't stay away long enough. I wish I hadn't saved after finally beating him.. that is such a cool piece of game development... love your video bro... still learning about my favorite game years later... priceless...
wow, the detail about Lambert is sooo cool!! totally love it.
how do you think, if you complete the HoS DLC before the Lambert's quest at Kaer Morhen and get that dialogue with the peasant about "some witcher using axii" and then go to do the Lambert's quest, will there be some unique line from Geralt about it after Lambert tells the story? something like "oh I've met some folks who remember you doing that shit"?))
thanks for the video, loved it very much!
Woah, english voice over of Vlodimir is so much worse than polish version. Polish voide actor actually made an effort of talking with two different tones to express the shift of character which made this quest twice as funny.
Bro, no should know that Geralt has a ghost inside him and having two different voices it would be kinda obvious
Hearts of Stone is the better story and has the better quests. Blood and Wine adds an incredible new area and monsters
Pretty cool, thanks.
Them setting up a camp was surprising dude! great video.
I was trying to find this answer literally last week so cool you posted it
i would like to see a video about all the random mini quests that you find through exploring the world.
-------------------------------------------------------------
can't think of any other channel that puts this much effort and quality into its first videos. keep up the good the content.
Didnt even know this was an option
I didn't even know the mage was supposed to be a real boss. Maybe that's what happens when you play the game on easy mode. No regrets though. Doing it for the story all the way :P
It is likely to miss that encounter with the boar if we already did 'Without A Trace' contract, which is given by the same herbalist, which then might entice us to use fast travel to his hut instead of traveling on the road. Good finding and thanks for sharing!
In the comic of Flesh and Flame, one of the crimes Geralt gets accused of is the murder of this mage. Fun little detail.
I have played thsi game 8 times so far but still didn't know about the Ofieri Mage and the Boar, damn! Great work dude!
Wow I knew you can just run away from the mage, but I wound never have found out about that camp.
Funny. I'm currently reading Season of Storms and I just read the part with the Borsodi Brothers auction today. Though in the book the auction house is in Novigrad, not Oxenfurt.
Love your dedication my guy, these little bits of the game that are found long after it's release help keep it alive for me
Can I just say how amazing the quality of this channel is? Banger after banger video and you can just feel the love you have for the Witcher through your commentary. Keep it up man.
Add on question: do you have any cyberpunk vids planned? Would love to see your style of video on that game 😁
i can't imagine how hard it is to regularly find details few people have found before, you're doing god's work
"No, I'm not bad at the game ... I'm just sparing my enemies"
It's a great break from **gestures vaguely at Velen and Novigrad**... everything else
Hearts of Stone, on the other hand, is more in line with the darker standard for The Witcher 3, and is also considerably smaller. Plus, "Are you a racist, Reginald?" has got to be the best line of the game (sorry "Radovid playing chess", you'll have to settle for second)
So yeah... I still think I feel B&W "is better" overall because of scope and tone and regis and stuff.... but HoS hits pretty much every swing it takes, it's amazing
None of B&W main quest can compete with HoS's dead man's party
Specially Yen, she has no patience for any of this, this is not an open relationship as far as she's concerned, not at this point, at least
So to me that bit felt super tacked on. Vlodimir is great though. No complaints whatsoever
@@samuelhutahaean2537 Nope, i hate how tedious it was. I just wanted to get it done quickly so i can move on to Toussaint sooner.
i would never let that mage live, he killed me too many times and i want a revenge.
But.... give him two more weeks and you get moar loot 🤫 (at least implied in this video with the loot chest in the tent)
"The Witcher videos - every week!"
Ah, well, nevertheless.
When you see him without his head and for a moment go like: "Wait, what?"
I remember struggling vs the Oferi mage at first, I tried to run away and I remember that they de-agroed and I was like "guess I'm not supposed to do that" :D Killing him for the first time though did feel satisfying.
Like is that fight too difficult on the highest difficulty setting?
wait, you can figth Olgierd? Like, not Irises' greatest fear? where?
@@markozerdin9784 Hmmm ??? Isn't that fight shown in the video. I think it was like one of the first interactions with Olgierd in HoS. Like the fight came after one of the first quests.
@@guest273 is it near the burning house if you choose the ahgresdive dialouge? I always try to be a pacifist or I just simply use axi. Is that the figth? Because I have totaly missed it otherwise
@@markozerdin9784 I think yeah. You had to call him out.
I love the enthusiasm of these videos and how much they've helped me as I play. Thanks for your hard work.
The Ofieri Mage and Co. errecting a tent after a week in game surprised me truly. Never thought they'd code that in there lmao.
What?! I’ve played through 6 times and I never knew that you could spare them! Though honestly I’ve always thought that quest was off in general because it felt out of character for Geralt to not try and break the curse instead of killing the prince. I feel like enough people referred to it as a curse for him to at least try first.
tnx dude..that ofieri mage detail is really interesting..i'll try to keep them alive
You can actually scape from some monsters that are "bosses" of a sidequest
It's nice to see videos are still being made on this game
I'm with you, I much preferred Hearts of Stone to Blood and Wine. It was fun seeing the new world but I found the happy go lucky naivety of the Touissant people frustrating. I understand it fits with the whole fairytale mindset they have, but ESPECIALLY the way the endings work leave me unfulfilled.
This game is so huge, lot of side quests , lot of choices and the outcomes, small details which can be missed no matter how many times you play this game. The true beauty of this game.
So many wonderful little details about this game. I cant believe they had the mage build a camp
When I was playing it for the first time, I didn't had enough level so I ran away and then returned after I finished the blood and wine dlc. I thought if they still gonna be there and also saw ? mark on the map so i returned there and they were still there with their camp. I was nicely surprised.
I will keep playing RDR2 and Witcher 3 for the rest of my life, just to see if I will be able to decide which of them is the best game of all time.
For me, rdr2 is ahead because of the clunkiness of the third act of the Witcher, but I love them both so much, top 1 and 2
i just like the idea they ae expecting geralt to come back so they set up a camp to wait for him.
One of the only youtubers whose videos that I look forward to. Keep up the great work.
I never knew about the boar that’s pretty cool. I love this game
When i unlocked all POIs via console i found the only bandit camp i can't clean up was on Ofieri mage Boss fight location, thought it was bug... Now i see it's not lol
I’d thought this game couldn’t surprise me more, but Ofieri mage camp is fascinating:
The game had two major issues:
1) it was overhyped to such an extent that actually delivering on what they promised was physically impossible
2) it is riddled with bugs
The first one is a direct consequence of the success of the Witcher.
Higher ups saying it's gotta come out while the workers know it's not ready. Boom.
the attention to detail is still unmatched
My gosh. Its been 8 years and we still find gems like this.
The Runewright is one of my facourite characters! The world's never-ending creation be praised!
"hot take" section of the video starting with Shani cutely spinning is a nice touch
Love your videos brother! The fact they set up camp after two weeks is wild.
Thanks, amazing video. Pity that Witcher 3 had only 2 Dlc's.
It blows my mind players like you even think of these different ways to test the game. Kudos once again
I've played this game countless times and years later there is still something I've missed...
last playthru I found the random unmarked lighthouse thats an abandoned sight north of where the ship crash is. This game always got new little details lol
I agree… HoS has always been my favorite expansion over B&W… I LOVE the Ofieri weapons… those swords man… & the runewright… the VIPER ARMOR?! Not mention… Olgierd Von Everec & Iris?! Some amazing writing right there.
That Ofieri camp is actually mind blowing
In my case, it was more of the mage sparing me :D
I "decided to spare" the ofieri mage in my Death March playthourgh, how merciful of me !
Ofieri have industrialized tent making - hence they all look exactly alike.
Love seeing your vids, can't wait for the next.
HOS has a great DARK side which is why I love it the most.
Fighting that mage at death march is incredibly challenging, until I remembered I have piercing cold 360 aard 😂.
that tent guy must be making some serious Orens
I would never figured this out, I cut all of em in half
Thank you very much for sharing the rare Details and your thoughts and gaming experiences. I enjoy your Videos a lot and appreciate the huge effort you put into making them.
So thanks a lot!
Btw, I found a rare Detail in Novigrad that might interest you. You can Overhear a conversation about Dandelion's bar when you have finished the quest of horeson junior and Menge but haven't started the quest "The play's the Thing" even though a few days (or weeks) have passed. That means if you haven't updated Priscilla on Dandelion's situation for quite some time. If you then return to the southern part of the Docks , some random docks- workers will have a conversation about when Dandelion's bar will eventually open and whether or not the two men want to visit the bar. I overheard that conversation while heading to the meeting point of Hattori's quest at the docks.
0h wow, I knew none of these things. Great stuff. And Lambert with one of his trademark hilarious scrapes! 😬
What happens if you kill everybody, except the mage? Will he just be meditating solo after setting up a huge tent for himself?
I tried this, and he just sort of bugged out. He never moved from where you last met him and would automatically attack if you moved too close.
@@NeonKnight Almost as if he can't fathom the idea of losing his whole crew and now just emotionless stares into void all day. Until Geralt arrives and he is his tether back to reality so he finally finds an emotion: pure rage.
Yoo, that is so crazy that they actually set up camp after a while haha. I would have never thought to run away from that fight and see what happened. Awesome find dude.
I tried to cheat, but misunderstood how the axii sign affected them thinking they'd just be less likely to run all over the place, not follow me, so I spent a good amount of time running in circle trying to corral them in the pen, not realizing they were following me...
Yo new video, super pumped
Keep up the great content man! Love your stuff!
His storm is fkn op
I ran. Never came back. Literally tried to fight him but couldn't even get close.
Tf this game and your really blown my mind, I had completed around 7-8 play through but didn't knew about the offeri camp. Thanks for uncovering this 👍👍 🔥
