    In the world of super SUVs, a 500 horsepower twin turbo V8 actually seems relatively normal (which is crazy). When you have things like the Lamborghini Urus putting out well over 600hp, the SQ8 seems reasonable in comparison. Sharing a similar platform with the rest of the VAG family SUVs, the SQ8 hits that sweet spot in the lineup. Combining healthy performance, handling and practicality with all the latest tech and luxury. Step up from the Q8 into the SQ8, or down from the RSQ8, the SQ8 is a brilliant choice. Enjoy this review and make sure you check out the interior and details video, along with the review of its sibling, the new Audi SQ7!
    Special thanks to Fletcher Jones Audi for making this video possible.

    Good review, EddieX. Thank you. Maybe you, or other posters here, can answer some questions for me: I am torn between the 2021 Q8 and SQ8, loaded Prestige trims. The better mpg of the Q8 is tempting, but my priority would be the car's ability to handle less than ideal roads and weather conditions, especially hilly mountain highways at speed to less well maintained backroads in ski country during the worst winter snow storms. And though at 59 I'm not much for "off roading" any more, I would like to know that my car can go on dirt roads and such to get me to a favored campsite or fishing spot if I need it to. Would adding the Sport Package (with the Active Roll Stabilization and Sport Rear Differential), will that improve the SQ8's ability to handle the above road and weather conditions, and make it acceptable? Without that added package would the Q8 and SQ8 be roughly the same in said conditions? Also, though I love, love the look of the Black Optics package on either car, that is only cosmetic, and if I forgo that, I can get either with the larger sidewall number 285/45/21 tires instead of the 285/40/22's that come with the Black Optics. Do you think the difference between the 45/21's and 40/22's would be noticeable in the above less than idea road and weather conditions, or so negligible that I should just go for the Black Optics with the 285/40/22's? Please, I would welcome as much input as possible on the above. Thanks again.

    First - great review! Right to the important points with real life use.
    Second - can you do a review of the SQ5 Prestige w/dynamic steering. A lot of my buddies (empty nesters) claim it's the perfect performance SUV (in the sweet spot) for it's size.

    Brian (Louderback), the SQ8 is actually more closely price-pointed with the Porsche Cayenne S coupe (twin-turbo Audi RS V6 mind you) and the Cayenne GTS. The Turbo starts at around $130K.
    Eddie, nicely summarized review. Have you done and/or planning some comparison reviews to other VW brands on same platform and similar mechanicals - like the GTS I mentioned? I'm a big Audi fan (have a Q5 and S5 currently), but am considering going to one daily driver...would be curious to hear your thoughts on Audi vs Porsche in this space.

    They got the better numbers by probably using the launch control. I own one. It has hidden launch control that isn’t advertised. After warming up put in dynamic mode, put transmission in S, hold down the ESC button for several seconds to fully deactivate it. You then fully depress the brakes and press the throttle to the floor. It will rev to about 2500, and you can then lift the brakes and you’re gone. It’s obscenely quick and only .3 or so off of the urus.

    Hi Eddie, I was a bit torn around the 80-100k SUV area: X6 M50/M and S/RS Q8, I lean towards Audi but I heard BMW give more discounts(like 7-12% MSRP before incentive), with this discount an X6 M sounds more favourable to me.
    In your knowledge will Audi be willing to give this discount to the Q8s? Thanks!

  • @Nate-zy5ce
    @Nate-zy5ce 3 года назад

    I just noticed, the SQ8 has a steeper approach angle, similar to the GMC Yukon AT4, while both the Yukon Denali and Cadillac Escalade do not. That's a legit SUV feature. I'd still prefer having the option on the loaded Prestige of getting thicker sidewall tires, the 20's or 21's at least, instead of having to get the 22's, but still, Way to go Audi!

    Remember kids, tunning an engine decreases the lifespan, if it didn't WHY DON'T CAR MANUFACTURES JUST GIVE THE ENGINE MORE POWER FROM THE FACTORY?!

    • @mastersilence3446
      @mastersilence3446 Год назад

      Manufactures don’t give more hp because it wouldn’t make any sense in the models. For example if the rsq8 and sq8 had the same HP there would be less reasons to buy the rsq8.
