I saw one of these and it was asking basic history questions on a college campus, you know where it gets scarier after kids where getting questions wrong is they had a *high school teacher* who was there started failing some of those same questions.
Yeah. We need to see that. For sure. Let's see those teachers answer basic questions so we can begin to narrow the problems down. Let's see rural school district teachers vs inner city DEI teachers.

I’m a french girl living in the UK who used to live in the US and I can confirm that Americans think they’re the centre of the universe so much so that they expect outsiders to know these basic questions, but can't seem to know them themselves. It’s a sad world we live in.

I faced a similar thing in Orlando on holiday a few years back. The guy heard my Brit accent and asked me what I had studied as I seemed to know more about US history than most of the Americans he had interviewed. When I told him I left school at age 15 without a qualification to speak of he was shocked. Amazing what you can learn on a pub quiz team.
I am Dutch and left school at the same age and quite a few well educated Americans asked me where I went to university and what I studied there.

What worries me is that we have the same problem here in the UK. Ask basic general knowledge or questions about the UK and many would be lost but ask them about a TV show or pop music and they can correctly answer any question.

I totally agree. Like American teens (young adults as well) talk about racial issues (BLM, Black History Month), the alphabet community, rich people vs poor people but can't answer a simple question to save their lives. They view problems in the world in such a black and white manner when in fact it's not, is laughable.

I did this at my school in an interview as a man on the street kinda thing and a surprising number of kids didn't even know HOW MANY CONTINENTS THERE WERE or who won in Vietnam. It blew my mind and not in a good way.
I’m 19 about to turn 20 and haven’t been to school since I was 15 but I still remember all the continents from a song they taught us in elementary that helped remind us. It went in this order: North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, Antarctica
