How often do u change the fuel filters? On my 4th gen i change them like 20-25k miles. Now i got my 2020 that cp4 pump is no good. Was wondering how often?
I’m with you on this question. Have a 2019 3500 with about 13,200 miles on it and it’s already telling me to change the fuel filter (not every time I turn it on, only once in awhile). Any thoughts? I’m wondering how often it is that we have to change these.
I have a 19’ 3500 single rear wheel as well, my fuel filters probably could have lasted up to 11,000 or 12,000 miles. I was at 10,000 miles and my fuel filter life was about 15%. Just changed em ahead of time.
There is a lot of extra amounts of fuel that leaks once you have the cap halfway off. Drain valve will get quite a bit, but not all of it. So make sure you got a big ol bucket underneath to catch all of that extra fuel
LOL !! Same thing happen to me, Told me he sells them everyday and has sold a ton of them..I told the guy to go to the shop and ask the mechanic if he was right.. came back and then gave me the correct filter, said he just got over covid and was confused..wth
Did you have any issues with the O-ring on the rear filter? Mine just seems to be too big. I put it back on and some wants to stick out and when I go to prime it it leaks every time. Thanks!
What's the most you tow regularly with a SRW 3500 Cummins? I have a piece of equipment and trailer that weighs 21k. So between the load and truck about 29k gross. Have you done this before?
Hello Paul, Have you, or have you heard of, a 2018 6.7 in a 2500 with a bad rear main seal? Just brought mine to the dealer for the steering recall, and a oil/fuel filter service. It has about 5,150 miles on it. I did add about a quart of oil at around 2,000 miles. Thought it was odd, but it was sitting at the dealer for about 6 months or so. Thanks for any insight that you may have, Pete
And be careful at the auto parts store when purchasing the rear fuel filter. Their database systems haven’t been updated and they will sell you the older model fuel filter because that’s what their system shows for your 2019 Dodge Ram 3500. The 2018 rear fuel filter/water separator is the one that looks like an oil filter (metal housing) however the 2019 is the one that looks like a cartridge.
Great video thanks! Is the rear filter the same as the last generation where you only have to replace it every 20-25k miles depending on moisture exposure? Or do you replace the rear along with front filter every time?
Saw a video on how to convert those enclosed filters to a spin on CAT filter. It was for a 4th gen motor tho so not sure if it would work on this. Wonder if that would void warranty
Just put a regular ratchet and a shallow socket right on that front cap with no extension. If you dont have 2 ft of extension and a swivel handy lol.
What’s a 38 millimeter socket? You means 3/8s or 38

@@GCervantes242424 your actually supposed to do it every 15k

At how many miles do you need to change your fuel filters?

Thank you so much for including part numbers i went through 10 videos until i came across your👍
This was a not very helpful video. To shoot the video while doing the job would make so much more sense to.
Whoa. I’m dizzy now.
Good video, but WHERE do the Ritz go???
Once you remove the rear cap, is there an extra amount of fuel that leaks, or does the drain valve drain everything? Thanks. Great informative video.
Yeah it makes a mess

How do you prime?
I’m trying to do mine just like the video, but I don’t have any Ritz crackers. On the way to the grocery store now, I’ll let ya know how it goes! 😂

What do you think about the problematic CP4s being used instead of the CP3s especially as GM specifically moves away from the CP4s?
Recalled now
instead of explaining the filter change after the fact why didn't you just film it while doing it?
At 3:15 I think you say 38 mm socket? But it is 28 on the rear one as well right? Thats at least what I have managed to google..
I used 1-1/8" for both
Do you have to bleed the System after you have change the filters
I prime mine by cycling the key 3 times
And change your whole system to a Fass and eliminate this crazy stuff.

Dam dodge really made a mountain out of a mole hill on this one... shit.....
shop wanted $250 🤣

Good luck with that. I got the number of a good transmission guy when you’re done. Lol.
Great video thank you. Could you share details on the 35" tires and rims?
Sure. Coming soon
Not a very good instructional video
What is the cap part number on the frame
Explained nice and simple 👍🏻👍🏻
Is there a reset procedure for the fuel filter life display on the dash?
Does the rear use the same part for 2500 and 3500?
Are these the same as the 2018's as well with the part and fleetguard part# as well?

I had one go bad right from the gates. So ya. Its possible and I've personally delt with one
What is the best way to Prime the filters after the Change. Is it just normal. Let the engine spin over until it Starts
Turn key to run for about 5 seconds and then to off and repeat 5 or 6 times and the pumps will prime both filters.

Thank you Sir!!! I plan to do this on my own for my truck!
Awesome
cool
Thanks Brother
It’s a 28mm for both filter caps not a 38mm for the back as stated

Just the comment I was looking for
Thanks for pointing out new rear filter. Did cost come down for the filters.
Cost depending on dealership. I've gotten quoted 140 dollars also 43 dollars. All depends on dealership
I had the same argument with the dealer 😂. Good video

Everytime both.
Both should be replaced under 15 k miles in previous generation aswell.
Do you have to take the back tires off to reach the one in back
Nope
@@pddieselpower one more question do I need to bleed anything after I change out those filters
Hearing anything on a reflash for the Aisin?
I got mine reflashed. I got a video coming on that

I hope it's good news. I am bringing my dually in Friday. The false neutral/slamming into low at slow speeds is annoying.
Looks good on 35s!

Do you happen to know what inner diameter size for the 2 foot hose needed to drain the water separator in the back
5/16 inner diameter
That fuel filter placement is buns. Cummins and Ram could of done better.
