The next time I upgrade my seating I plan to get a low profile sofa with a headrest that folds back. This way I can have no obstructions when I am actively listening and can also have the option of a headrest when I just want chill out. Something like the Nevio at Macys.
Yeah, I think that's the best compromise and I don't get why don't more home cinema seat companies thought about that.
I've been considering the Tuscany (3 of them), to replace a 15 year old low back, set of 3, theater seats, I got from Costco. Decent head and neck support seemed like a good idea. But, if a low back seat is a better choice, then you just saved me $3500. Thanks.
you can't go wrong with the Tuscany. I really miss the head support. Valencia has a new model with a low back that swings up to support the head.. those to me look ideal for all listening.
@@hometheatergurus I just ordered 3 of the Tuscany. I saw lots of reviews from people, impressed that they got a call right away from the company. Well, 2 days after ordering and at least 2 weeks before I'll see the chairs, I got a message to return a call to talk about my order. It turned out to be a call to try to sell me the extended warranty, with any number of ominous warnings of all of the horrible things that can go wrong with the chair that wouldn't be covered by the convoluted and layered warranty that actually comes with the chairs. Anyway, I've enjoyed your videos. Wish me luck.
This channel slowly becoming a product endorsement for Valencia seats 😂
Na.. it's just that time of year they happen to be swapping out. This one does get into audio quality and definitely something to consider. I filmed 4 Q/A episodes this week. Just have to get them edited.
If your head wasn't shaved, you could reduce reflections even further....give it a shot! (lol, j/k man!)
hahaha.. .OK .. that's a good one!!! 😅😄
True story: Steve actually used to sport a luscious afro ala Bob Ross style until one fateful day he jammed a mic in there to take some measurements only to discover he was loosing 0.5 db... it has been dome wax ever since (true HT guru 🙏)
@@northeastcorals I made that fro into a wig actually and use it when I want a less reflective sound. It's all about the audio.. 👍
@@hometheatergurus If legends are true, they speak of a fiery ginger wig adorned with the beads of diffusion 😇
Great video Steve, thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙏 lovely looking seats👌
Thanks! They definitely have a high WAF.
I've always wanted to see a chair thats built like a standard comfy home cinema recliner, but the headrest is tiny & just big enough to support the back of your head but not cover your ears. Similar to how to the head rests are designed on some dentists chairs etc that you see. It'd probably look ridiculous so no sane company will ever try it, but I think it could maybe work 🤔
That would be cool, or a small headrest that was powered and slid up and down to set the height.
@@hometheatergurus Yeh that's exactly the kinda thing I was thinking of... although it may be a pretty niche market of HT geeks who'd be interested in something like that.
I've also seen gaming chairs with a fabric mesh style headrest that would probably let most sound through that could be worth experimenting with (although you might end up with a pretty interesting pattern on the back of your head off these 😂)
Why can't they just add a detachable head rest? If you are going to claim luxury you have to give the option
They cost 8k a pair without the discount. A detachable headrest shouldn't hurt their pockets that much .
I personally wouldn't want detachable headrests.
It's always nice to see yet another aspect of the immersive sound experience, and what role seating can actually play in that. - Thanks - Cheers
Yep it's often overlooked completely. It's good to understand compromises even if we choose to make them.
I wish they did these without the piano black arm rests. The reflections would drive me nuts. I’d order tomorrow if I can have them in a velour non reflective material.
I actually discussed that in the video. You don't notice them at all in use as they aren't forward enough to reflect screen light. With multiple rows.. That could be an issue.
@@hometheatergurus I’d 100% notice them in my room as the whole room is covered in velvet. I can notice the arm rests of my black chairs as it is. Piano black would be a nightmare for me.
I am facing the same headrest problem i have shimmed down the headrest and I did made some difference but I want to do a step further
Can you suggest something please
Should I rise some inches of rear speakers
I actually hit on this in the video. Nothing is going to replace no head rest. You can raise them but be careful not to smear to the atmos , you can also boost the rears but none of this really fixes the issue.
Yeah you are right
I never understood why people would purchase home theatre seats with high headrests. It's as if someone's placing a cushion right up against the back of one's head! Totally in adequate for my Dirac calibration!
It's a compromise but we all have different goals. It's always good to look at different options and decide what's most important for you.
Hard armrests??? Elbow busters
I thought they would be but I find I don't have an issue with them. You tend to lay your arm flat on them and it's comfortable.
